Scotland star Sione Tuipulotu is currently putting together the final preparations to travel down under after he was named in the British and Irish Lions squad to tour Australia this summer. The Glasgow Warriors centre was one of eight Scotland internationals to be named in Andy Farrell's squad to take on the Wallabies across a three-test series over the coming months. The current crop of Lions will ramp up their preparations with a warm-up game against Argentina at Dublin's Aviva Stadium before boarding the flight to Oz to continue their preparations down under. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Australia-born Tuipulotu qualifies to represent Scotland through his grandmother Jacqueline Thomson, who was born and raised in Greenock and he has now revealed she will be supporting him in action this summer after she made a trip back to Scotland to see her grandson in action against the Wallabies in November last year. He said: "She [Jacqueline] will be around. I'm not sure if she'll be travelling up for some of the other games, but I know she'll be there for the one in Melbourne. I know she's so excited for us. She stayed up with my mum and dad to watch the announcement. It was so funny because my dad was recording the announcement and all you can hear from the background of the video is my gran screaming 'YES!' 'That was as my name was getting read out, which was amazing."She's obviously stoked that we're heading back [to Australia] and that she gets a chance to watch us boys as well, when we do get back over there. She's really excited." When is the 2025 British & Irish Lions Tour? Goode backs Finn Russell to lead Bath to EPCR glory
Fresh from selection for his third British & Irish Lions Tour, Russell will be key to Bath's hopes of completing the second part of their treble bid when they take on French side Lyon at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in a match which will be shown exclusively live on Premier Sports 1 from 7pm. And while it is his dazzling skill and risk-taking that have made Russell such a fan favourite, two-time Champions Cup winner Goode believes he has matured into a more complete No.10 as he looks to bring home more silverware. 'Bath can play expansively, they can play tight, they have got a good pick and go game, and it's all managed by Finn Russell,' said Goode, who is part of a as part of the 15-strong Premier Sports TV punditry team delivering the Investec Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup for Premier Sports, the new broadcasters of international club rugby's premier competitions. 'A few years ago he was seen as this kind of mercurial 10 who could pull a rabbit out of the hat but if you look at him now, he's got that in him but he's also really balanced and understands the game well and manages it really well so they are going to be a tough team to beat this weekend for Lyon. Even though Lyon have some unbelievable players themselves in Davit Niniashvili and Semi Radradra in the backline, Vincent Rattez on the wing. They won it three years ago so they will be a tough nut to crack.' Bath are enjoying a brilliant campaign, already assured of top spot in the Gallagher Premiership as they look to go one better than last year's run to the final. They ended a 17-year wait for silverware by winning the Premiership Rugby Cup earlier this season and are favourites to add Challenge Cup and Premiership crowns to the trophy cabinet, with Goode paying tribute to the work of coach Johann van Graan in transforming the club since his arrival in 2022. Goode added: 'From where Johann van Graan came in and took over, I think they were bottom of the league when he took over. To see their rise over the last three years it has been fantastic. 'They have invested really cleverly in the squad, in terms of the players and the back-up players and depth they have got. It would be enthralling to see how the team sets up, but they are a pretty complete team. They can play the power game, they have got a great set-piece with Beno Obano, Will Stuart and Thomas du Toit, who is one of the best in the world. 'You have to give credit to Johann van Graan at Bath and the coaches. I'm a massive fan of Lee Blackett, how he coaches a team and gets a team to play from his days at Wasps, he has taken that to another level down at Bath. 'It's a game that Bath will go into as favourites but Lyon won't be pushovers. They beat Toulon in Marseille three years ago to win this trophy, where everyone was backing Toulon as massive favourites, so they will go into the game with huge hopes of causing a bookies' upset.' Premier Sports is the home of Investec Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup with 80 games live throughout the competition including this weekend's Finals on 23 and 24 May live from Principality Stadium, Cardiff. Resmed Champions Sleep Health as The Official Sleep Partner of The Qatar Airways British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia 2025
SAN DIEGO and LONDON and DUBLIN and SYDNEY, May 15, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Resmed (NYSE: RMD, ASX: RMD), the leading health technology company focused on sleep, breathing, and care delivered in the home, has been named the Official Sleep Partner of the Qatar Airways British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia. The Tour brings rugby fans' dreams to life over a six-week period. For the first time in 12 years, The Lions squad, alongside an estimated 40,000 fans, will battle it out with the Wallabies, Super Rugby Pacific teams, and exhibition sides in six cities across Australia. As the Official Sleep Partner, Resmed will launch 'Tackle Your Sleep,' a digital and content focused campaign featuring legendary rugby players. The campaign takes a light-hearted look at serious sleep health issues affecting players and the fans in Australia, the UK, and Ireland, with the rugby legends sharing advice and tools to support better sleep. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of quality sleep for the rugby players and fans, as the third pillar of health, alongside exercise and diet1. Poor sleep can take a serious toll on mental health, physical health2, relationships3, and daily performance4. For athletes, it can impair optimal training, motivation, physical performance, and increase the risk of fatigue-related injuries3. A study of 175 rugby and cricket players found that half were classified as poor sleepers, with many reporting significant daytime fatigue5 — highlighting how sleep hygiene and recovery routines can offer a real competitive edge. Despite these known negative effects, Resmed's 2025 Global Sleep Survey found that one in four people globally are choosing to live with poor sleep6. Katrin Pucknat, Chief Marketing Officer of Resmed, said: 'Poor sleep affects every aspect of our lives, but the good news is there are steps we can take to improve our sleep health. 'As the Official Sleep Partner of the tour, we're excited to raise awareness about the powerful connection between sleep and athletic performance and inspire fans to think about the role that sleep plays in their own lives, while having some fun along the way.' Ben Calveley, CEO of The British & Irish Lions said: 'The Lions are always seeking new ways to support our players and management team and sleep is a vital component of performance. 'Resmed adds another dimension to our acclimatisation and recovery strategies, ensuring the squad is primed to perform for the duration of the Tour. They will also be sharing insights to help travelling supporters stay well rested and in full voice for each fixture.' Rugby Australia CEO, Phil Waugh said: 'Resmed is a leader in their field and we're incredibly pleased to welcome them as an official partner for this year's British & Irish Lions Tour. 'Quality sleep is certainly important for our players to perform at their best but there's no doubt good sleep is just as vital for all those celebrating and connecting throughout the Tour across Australia.' The British & Irish Lions will play 10 matches in total, with three Test matches against the Wallabies in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
