Addressed: How to Dress Up a Band Tee

Welcome to Addressed, a weekly column where we, ahem, address the joys (and tribulations!) of getting dressed. So far, we've unpacked how to wear shorts at the office and beyond, how to pack a carry-on bag for a work trip, how to dress with style in your third trimester, and even how to layer without looking like that chair in your room (you know the one). Download the Vogue app, and find our Style Advice section to submit your question. A Vogue editor asks: I have lots of band and concert tees, but I never know how to wear them IRL other than during a night out or a casual weekend hang. Balenciaga just made a Britney T-shirt, and Loewe did those feather classical music ones, which make me think they now have real fashion bona-fides—but how can I make them look like a fashion choice as opposed to a lazy choice? I love this question because literally all the T-shirts I own are band or concert tees. But I also understand this question because most souvenir tees are usually relegated to the gym or co-opted as nightgowns (and there are more than a few in my drawer that are strictly won within these parameters). Plus, there's just something about wearing a T-shirt that can make you feel like you rolled out of bed and left your house without bothering to change. The way to make a humble T-shirt look like it's part of a considered 'fit rather than just a thing you happen to be wearing is to pair it with more 'elevated' pieces. The 'elevated' bit can be whatever nice-ish garment you may favor, especially if it creates a bit of contrast with the tee itself. Think of your favorite vintage tee, washed to the point of being almost see-through, maybe even with a few holes in it—this, you'd want to wear tucked into high-waist pleated linen trousers with a belt (and if the shirt is actually sheer, then by all means layer a tank or another tee—à la Michael Rider's Celine—underneath it). I think belted trousers are the perfect pairing for tees because nothing is un-lazier than wearing a belt! The bulk of my closet consists of skirts that can be dressed up or down, and I find that they can stand up to a band tee without leaving me looking disheveled—especially when paired with a Mary Jane, ballet flat, or lace-up oxford. Photographed by Phil Oh It's also important to take the fit and the condition of the shirt into consideration when putting together a look. Like I mentioned above, a raggedy-but-delicate shirt can take on the visual symbolism of a very thin knit, if you've layered or accessorized accordingly; while oversized band tees (because they were only ever available in size XL or XLL back in the day), can be easily cropped to a little below the natural waist and then worn over wiggle skirts or high-waist narrow trousers, playing with big-on-top/small-on-bottom proportions. (I like to cut them with scissors then wash them so the hems roll up a little, but you can also get them properly cropped at a tailor to keep a nice crisp seam. Make sure to leave the sleeves oversized tho!) Shirts that fit close to the body but are on the longer side are better off left as is, and tucked into pencil skirts, or trousers with paperbag waists.

Britney Spears Spotted Smiling At Cops After Chaotic Mexico-Los Angeles Flight

Upon landing in Los Angeles, Britney was reportedly issued a warning by authorities about her conduct. Back in May, pop icon Britney Spears landed in trouble after she tried to light a cigarette while she was on a private flight from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to Los Angeles. Now, new footage from that day has surfaced in the media, which shows the 42-year-old singer having a brief interaction with the airport officials after her outburst during the flight. The body cam footage obtained by TMZ featured a conversation between an airport cop and a US Customs and Border Protection officer after Britney's plane landed. The latter informed the cop that the singer was compliant. He said, 'We get her all the time. Today, she obviously didn't take her meds. She's being very compliant; she's very nice, so to me right now, it's all good." Following their conversation, the pop icon was spotted walking past them. Dressed in an oversized shirt and a red hat, she waved at them and walked out calmly with two others. She looked far more composed in the clip than in other pictures, which were taken mid-air. This is Disgusting saying 'she obviously didn't take her meds" but following it up with she is being very compliant and very nice … shows that since Britney was in an unjust chips there is an automatic stigma that she either needs meds/something is wrong with her #BritneySpears — A Britney Nerd 🤓 (@luckySGM) July 11, 2025 Previously, some sources who were present during the flight told the aforementioned outlet that Britney started drinking at first. Later, she lit a cigarette inside the aircraft, which is a serious violation of flight safety regulations. The flight attendants were alarmed by her behaviour and urged her to extinguish the cigarette immediately, which the singer immediately agreed with. Still, some insiders who were present during her 'outburst" mid-air claimed that she was being 'difficult." The incident did not go unnoticed, and neither was she spared for this one-off instance. When the plane landed at the Los Angeles airport, Britney was taken by the authorities, where she was reportedly issued a warning regarding her conduct. Following the incident, Britney shared a post on her Instagram account, revealing her side of the story. Calling the whole debacle 'incredibly funny," she mentioned, 'I swear I felt so SMART!!! I was like Wow, what the heck is in there!!! I felt so clear and smart!!! And said I want a cigarette so bad!!! My friend put it in my mouth and lit it up for me, so I was like OH SO THIS IS A PLANE WHERE YOU CAN SMOKE!!!" View this post on Instagram A post shared by XILA MARIA RIVER RED (@britneyspears) Further, in her note, Britney also shared that the flight attendants weren't too fond of her. She added, 'The flight attendant called officials because I smoked a cigarette !!! And embarrass me, which jeez I thought was kinda much, but she didn't like me the moment I got on the plane!!!" Through her post, she apologised to anyone she offended during the flight. First Published: July 12, 2025, 14:04 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. ‘Britney Spears' Mexico flight drama: Body cam footage shows calm exit, no action taken

Britney Spears was involved in a mid-air incident on a flight from Mexico to Los Angeles. She reportedly drank alcohol and tried to smoke on the plane, which led to concern among the flight crew. The event drew attention, but no legal action was taken against her. According to the reports on TMZ, Spears caused concern among the flight crew and passengers due to her unusual behaviour, especially when she tried to light up a cigarette onboard. Flight attendants quickly intervened, asking her to stop, and while she eventually complied, sources described her behaviour as difficult and erratic throughout the journey. Once the plane arrived at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), flight attendants and passengers could see that Britney visibly upset. She was spotted sitting in the plane, looking dishevelled and agitated with white sunscreen all over her face and body. She appeared to be in a heated conversation with a flight attendant, and her overall condition worried fellow passengers. Later, Britney addressed the situation by saying she believed smoking was allowed on the flight because someone had told her it was okay. She also claimed that the flight attendants were unfriendly and seemed to dislike her. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The newly released footage shows what happened after the plane landed. In the video, a US Customs and Border Protection agent is observed speaking with an airport police officer on the runway. The customs agent can be heard stating, "We get her all the time, today she obviously didn't take her meds. She's being very compliant; she's very nice, so to me right now, it's all good." The video also captures Britney walking past the officers silently. She makes a gentle wave, says nothing to anyone, and walks off without causing any more commotion. She appeared composed and did not seem to be in the same distressed state as seen earlier during the flight. The customs officer then instructed the airport police to keep an eye on her, just in case anything happened later. Although the mid-flight situation was serious and caught attention, authorities let her go without any charges.
