Scotland's best bed and breakfasts crowned by AA as island B&B named 'friendliest'

Prizes were also handed out to the country's number one inn and restaurant with rooms. Scotland's best restaurant with rooms, bed and breakfast, and inn have been named by the AA. A B&B on a Scottish island was also crowned the country's "friendliest". ‌ On Tuesday, July 15, The AA revealed the winners of the annual AA B&B Awards. The awards celebrate the best bed and breakfasts, inns, and restaurants with rooms across the UK. ‌ The overall Bed and Breakfast of the Year Scotland prize went to The Townhouse in Perth. The traditional Georgian terraced venue has also received five AA Gold Stars. ‌ All of the rooms at the bed and breakfast showcase a Georgian and Deco style, featuring antique furnishings alongside modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi and flatscreen Smart TVs. Meanwhile, among The Townhouse's breakfast offerings are omelettes, fried, scrambled, or poached eggs, and fresh fruit salad with mint and honey. The AA singled out The Townhouse's "luxurious beds" and "professional and attentive service". The judges also praised the rooms' "great views over the picturesque South Inch Park". Elsewhere, Broad Bay House on the Isle of Lewis was named Scotland's Friendliest B&B of the Year. The bed and breakfast has also received five AA Gold Stars. Broad Bay House includes four luxury en-suite guest rooms, all of which come with a flatscreen Smart TV, a Bose Bluetooth speaker, a DVD player, and more. It also offers three-course evening meals made with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. ‌ The AA praised the venue for its "service, simplicity and style", as well as its "special" hospitality. Additionally, the inspectors said that guests are "guaranteed to have an extraordinary experience". ‌ The winner of the AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year Scotland award is The Dipping Lugger in Ullapool. The restaurant, which sits on the shore of Loch Broom, also holds five AA Gold Stars and three AA Rosettes. The Dipping Lugger is an 18th-century former manse with a nautical theme that serves up a tasting menu showcasing seafood dishes such as scallop and langoustine. Meanwhile, it features three guest rooms with views out over Loch Broom towards the mountains. The AA praised the venue as a "wonderful restaurant". The judges also stated that it offers "the highest levels of service and hospitality backed up with a stunning dining experience". ‌ The Dipping Lugger co-owner Robert Hicks stated: "The Scottish restaurant with rooms of the year means so much to us, especially when we live so far away from everyone." The winner of the AA Inn of the Year Scotland award is The Colintraive in the Argyll village of Colintraive. The inn, which also has four Silver Stars and one AA Rosette, features a restaurant, a pub, and rooms. Finally, Roskhill House in Dunvegan earned the title of AA Best Breakfast of the Year.
