The brute pounced on his 47-year-old victim at around 5pm on Saturday on Melrose Road in the Scottish Borders. Detectives say the man is described as aged mid to late 30s, around 5ft 9in tall, of slim build, with short, brown hair. He spoke with a Scottish accent. He was wearing a grey top and dark trousers. Detective Constable Bruce Dodds added: "Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed this to contact us. "We also ask anyone who has dash-cam footage of the area at the time to come forward." Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2450 of Saturday, 5 July 2025.

A 47-year-old man was rushed to Borders General Hospital for treatment after emergency services attended. A man has been left seriously injured following a violent assault in Galashiels with detectives appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to help track down the attacker. The 47-year-old victim was attacked around 5pm on Saturday, July 5, on Melrose Road near the roundabout for Melrose Gait. ‌ Emergency services attended and he was rushed to Borders General Hospital for treatment. ‌ Police have launched a probe to trace the suspect, who is described as being in his mid to late 30s, around 5ft 9in tall, of slim build, with short brown hair and a Scottish accent. He was wearing a grey top and dark trousers at the time of the incident. Detective Constable Bruce Dodds said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed this to contact us.
