The Ottawa Police Service is seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect involved in a stabbing at a popular west end dog park over the weekend.
Police say officers responded to Bruce Pit on Sunday after receiving a call that a man had been stabbed while walking along the main path at approximately 2:50 p.m.
An investigation found the victim had stopped to smoke when he was approached by an unknown man who asked to share the cannabis he was smoking.
When the victim refused, police say the suspect stabbed him in the leg and fled the area on foot.
The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as an Indigenous male, believed to be between 50- to 60-years-old with long hair and a scruffy beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a Blink-182 sweatshirt and cargo shorts.
He is believed to be homeless, police say.
