2026 5-star Edge announcement details revealed for Saturday, July 5
Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff are on the precipice of landing 2026 five-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright, who is set to make his announcement on Saturday afternoon. On Wednesday, Rivals recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong placed his prediction that the Aggies will land the standout pass rusher, who will choose between Clemson, Miami, Texas, and A&M. On Thursday, Perry-Wright's announcement plans for Saturday afternoon were revealed. They will take place live on 247Sports' YouTube channel at 4 p.m. CT, providing every fanbase the opportunity to watch the elite prospect make what has been deemed a close decision, even though the Aggies are the late favorites. Again, Texas A&M being in the mix for nearly every elite defensive lineman and edge prospect in the 2026 cycle is not surprising, given the program's success this summer, which began and ended with the staff's ability to build a strong, lasting relationship-based culture and a clear development plan for every recruit. The same goes for Perry-Wright, who, despite being slightly undersized, is regarded as one of the top pass rushers who will likely be a defensive end at the next level. On the field, Perry-Wright broke out during his 2024 junior season, recording 57 tackles (13 for loss) and nine sacks, which helped lead his team to the playoff semifinals and earned him a spot in the Navy All-American Bowl. According to 247Sports, Bryce Perry-Wright is currently positioned as the 32nd-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 2nd-ranked defensive lineman, and the 5th-ranked prospect in Georgia. Blue-chip DL Bryce Perry-Wright names Texas in top four, sets July 4th commitment date Texas currently has the No. 14 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. They have a great opportunity to move up those rankings soon when four-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright makes his decision. The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder has named Texas in his top four schools along with Clemson, Miami, and Texas A&M. Perry-Wright has also set his commitment date for July 4. Rising 2026 4-star DL will return to Texas A&M for a visit next weekend
Rising 2026 4-star DL will return to Texas A&M for a visit next weekend Returning visits in recruiting is vital to landing prospects, primarily recruits with 40-plus offers on the table, given their elite skillset and eventual collegiate stardom. This weekend, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff hosted a long list of talented 2026 and 2027 prospects, including 2026 5-star OL/DL Lamar Brown, who is set to return this summer. Even before Mike Elko arrived, Texas A&M's history of landing elite defensive line prospects is vast. While Myles Garrett, Von Miller, and Justin Madubuike are usually the first names to come to mind, the 2024 staring D-line composed of Nic Scourton, Shemar Stewart, and Shemar Turner will all likely be drafted in the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. Sticking with the 2026 cycle, four-star DL Bryce Perry-Wright recently visited Texas A&M in September and is not set to return to College Station on March 29, according to Rivals insider Sam Spiegelman. This will occur before his official visit to Texas A&M on June 20. Hailing from Buford, Georgia, Perry-Wright isn't the tallest defensive line prospect, standing at 6'2", but he has a high motor and impressive athleticism, epitomized by his on-field production. In his last two seasons, Perry-Wright has recorded 108 tackles, 16.2 sacks, and 22 tackles for loss. According to 247Sports Composite, Bryce Perry-Wright is currently positioned as the 44th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 3rd-ranked defensive lineman, and the 5th-ranked prospect in Georgia.
