Dimepiece's Brynn Wallner on her favourite hotels, films – and her Timex collab
After working for the content team at auction house Sotheby's and falling in love with watches, New York-based
Brynn Wallner established Dimepiece in 2020. What started as an Instagram account is now one of the most respected resources for women – and men – who have a genuine interest in the world of watchmaking.
Also a curator of vintage timepieces available for purchase on the website, Wallner recently teamed up with Timex on a re-edition of the 1995 Intrepid watch worn by 90s icon
John F. Kennedy Jr back in the day. Here, Wallner talks about this latest project and her favourite finds from New York and around the world.
What I'm watching …
Alain Delon and Romy Schneider on the set of La Piscine, directed by Jacques Deray.

I've been addicted to the Criterion Collection this summer. My TV consumption goes way down during the warmer months, so if I'm sitting down in front of my TV, I want to feel just as fulfilled as I would if I were at a party or on a long, dreamy walk. Most of my favourites are in French, which I use to supplement my nearly 800-day streak on Duolingo.
Here are some highlights:
The Sandpiper (Vincente Minnelli, 1965) starring
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton – a heart-wrenching story about forbidden love and a woman's right to independence.
Water Lilies (Céline Sciamma, 2007) – an intimate French film about teenage friendship, sexuality and obsession.
La Piscine (Jacques Deray, 1969) – a summer staple starring Alain Delon and Romy Schneider at their best. Gorgeous and unnerving. Watch this and then watch Luca Guadagnino's 2015 remake, A Bigger Splash.
Stranger by the Lake (Alain Guiraudie, 2013) – Also gorgeous and unnerving. Don't watch this if you're not into seeing naked men. Also French.
