The 2025 Finals matchup might prove the NBA Cup means more than you think
The NBA's In-Season Tournament — officially rebranded as the Emirates NBA Cup in 2024 — has been searching for a signature moment to solidify its meaning to fans, and the 2025 NBA Finals matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers might have just created it. Why? Well, because Oklahoma City and Indiana have something in common besides being two of the league's smallest markets: They are also the last two runners up in the NBA Cup, with the Pacers losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the inaugural Las Vegas competition in 2023, and the Thunder losing to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024's version. Advertisement Clearly, both teams were motivated by losing on the biggest stage the league has to offer: a neutral court in Las Vegas in December, and are motivated to win the outdated, post-season tournament the league puts on as some sort of consolation bracket with much lamer courts as a result. This is also a reminder that both IST champions — the Lakers and Bucks — lost in the first-round of the ensuing playoffs, proving that #TheCup also provides a championship hangover to its winners, cementing it as a real, banner-worthy tournament. But while this championship series should be fun, unfortunately, we'll have to wait until next season to see if the Pacers or Bucks can use their experience in the Finals to catapult them towards an even more meaningful prize next year: $500,000 for every player on the roster of the NBA Cup champion.

Kevin Durant Trade Report Emerges After Giannis Antetokounmpo News
Kevin Durant Trade Report Emerges After Giannis Antetokounmpo News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. This NBA offseason could feature some of its very best players getting moved. That includes Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant. Earlier in May, The New York Post's Brian Lewis reported the Brooklyn Nets are gearing up to trade for Antetokounmpo should he become available. Advertisement "Giannis Antetokounmpo has long been viewed as the Nets' prime target. And for the first time, he might actually be in sight," Lewis wrote. "The Post has long reported that Brooklyn has been amassing draft capital and assets with acquiring Antetokounmpo as their proverbial white whale, but the Bucks had never shown any inclination to move him nor he any indication of being willing to move. That is reportedly changing. " Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (34)Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images For now, nothing is concrete regarding whether the Milwaukee Bucks star will request a trade. That said, NBA Insider Marc Stein revealed an update on Saturday that directly impacts Durant. On his latest edition of The Stein Line, Stein revealed Durant's future could be held up by Antetokounmpo's situation. "The expectation persists that Durant will ultimately reach the trade market this offseason, but it might not happen until there is clarity on whether Giannis Antetokounmpo will be staying in Milwaukee or seeking a trade of his own," Stein wrote. An Antetokounmpo trade could determine Durant's value on the open market, and it would also presumably eliminate a Durant suitor since no team will have the assets or financial flexibility to add both players. The Bucks have suffered through three consecutive first-round exits and have limited ways to improve their current roster. What To Do If A Car Crashes Into Your House
My mother-in-law had just downsized from her charming but large house into a comfortable, brand new 2 bedroom in a lovely neighborhood. But the house happened to be positioned right where the street made a 'T.' Drivers would stop and make a left or a right. Within a week, a car was in her living room. An elderly driver stepped on the gas instead of the brake and 'it sounded like a bomb went off, "she said. Fortunately no one was hurt but of course it was a months-long process of paperwork, contractors and Peggy worrying every time she heard a car coming down the hill. Aylesbury,Bucks,UK - September 11th 2011. Car comes off the road and crashes into a house It's not a situation most people expect, but it happens more often than you'd think: a car crashes into a house. Whether it's a drunk driver, a medical emergency, or just someone who hit the wrong pedal, the result is chaos. Here's what you need to do immediately — and in the days that follow — to protect yourself, your home, and your sanity. Call 911 Immediately Your first move is to call 911 — even if the driver insists they're fine or tries to leave. You'll need police on the scene to document everything, and if there are any injuries (including your own), paramedics will be dispatched. Let the pros assess the situation. Even a small crash can compromise your home's structural integrity. Don't Enter the Impact Zone If the crash damaged a wall, foundation, or support beam, stay out of that part of the house until a building inspector or fire department clears it. One wrong move could bring down a ceiling or cause further collapse. Document, document, document Take photos and video from multiple angles. Capture damage to your house, the car's position, license plate, skid marks, debris, and anything else that tells the story. Write down what you remember right away — time, weather, noise, any details about the driver — because stress fogs memory fast. Exchange Info with the driver when appropriate Don't argue, don't accuse. Just gather facts. If the driver is uncooperative or flees the scene, let the police handle it. Notify Your Home Insurance Company Quickly File a claim ASAP. Even though the driver's auto insurance will likely pay for the damage (under their property liability coverage), your own homeowners insurance may help cover emergency repairs, hotel stays, or cleanup in the meantime. Ask your adjuster what's covered and when. Secure the Property Once emergency services give you the all-clear, board up any holes, broken windows or damaged doors to prevent theft or injury. If needed, hire a contractor or mitigation service to help with emergency repairs — and keep receipts for everything. Contact a Structural Engineer or Contractor Your insurance may send someone, but it's smart to have your own evaluation. Structural damage isn't always obvious. Cracks, bowed walls, or shifts in your foundation may not show up for weeks. Peggy, whose house was hit, discovered problems in the foundation months after the crash when a contractor was inspecting it. Get Legal Help If the damage is extensive or the driver was uninsured or underinsured, consult a lawyer. You may need help recovering full compensation. Also, if the crash caused emotional trauma — especially if you were home — don't underestimate your right to support. Be gentle with yourself for awhile Any crash is traumatic, but having your home hit is especially nerve-shattering. You might feel unsafe in your home for a while. That's normal. Get support if you need it — from a therapist, friends, or online communities. If you see a therapist, keep receipts to be presented when the time is right for reimbursement.

Bucks Hit With Troubling Brook Lopez Update
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Milwaukee Bucks are still trying to figure out what Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to do. For the first time, he has decided that he is open to asking for a trade and playing for another team. That will dominate the offseason for the Bucks. Whatever his decision is will have massive roster implications for how they build the team for not just next season, but also for years to come. The center spot is another spot that they have to figure something out, with Brook Lopez being 37 years old. Lopez has been the starting center in Milwaukee since 2018. He will become a free agent this summer, meaning the Bucks might have to find a new guy to start. Brook Lopez #11 of the Milwaukee Bucks reacts to a three point shot during the first half of game two of the Eastern Conference First Round Playoffs against the Indiana Pacers. Lopez will be a free agent this summer. More Photo byThe Bucks don't have someone behind Lopez to immediately take over the starting duties if he were to sign elsewhere this offseason. Unfortunately for them, it looks like they are going to have to find someone else. It looks like Lopez will leave Milwaukee and find another team to play for. The Bucks will more than likely part ways with Lopez, leaving the door wide open for them to get a new center. That is a scary thought, especially if they don't have Antetokounmpo next year. Read more: Celtics' Jayson Tatum Still Receiving Major Criticism Despite Achilles Injury If the Bucks don't re-sign Lopez, they would need Bobby Portis to opt into his deal. They can't survive two centers leaving in free agency this summer. Lopez was played off the floor at times in the playoffs against the Pacers. By the end of the series, he played only eight minutes in Game 5. How Milwaukee replaces Lopez is going to be tricky. They don't have a lot of cap space to sign a very talented center, so they might have to execute a trade. Without Damian Lillard playing most of next season, this could be a good time for the Bucks to reset at certain positions. Center would be a good position to do just that. This season, Lopez averaged 13 points, five rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He shot 50.9 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc. In the playoffs, his stats dropped to five points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.8 assists. He shot just 36.3 percent from the field and 26.6 percent from three.
