NBA insider provides update on where things stand with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks
Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly opened the door in early May to consider a trade to a championship contender this summer. After weeks of silence, there's at least an update on where the situation stands right now. During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, senior NBA writer Sam Amick of The Athletic shared that Antetokounmpo hasn't even met with the Bucks' organization yet to discuss his thinking. He has not met with the Bucks in any formal capacity to discuss things. He's talking to his people, he has a pretty small group…It's going to be, I think, a slow process.' The Athletic's Sam AMick on where things stand with Giannis Antetokounmpo Amick went on to explain that Antetokounmpo first needs to have a discussion with his inner circle about his future and what his best options are. Only after that will he meet with the Bucks' organization, getting a feel for their plan, before making any decision. Giannis Antetokounmpo stats (ESPN): 30.4 PPG, 11.9 RPG, 6.5 APG, 60.1% FG, 1.2 BPG It was also noted by Amick that the Bucks' case to Antetokounmpo could highlight the fact that the Eastern Conference might not be as deep as previously thought a few weeks ago. The Boston Celtics, who were already headed for major moves this summer to shed payroll, will now be without All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum (Achilles) next season. However, the Bucks have plenty of their own problems to deal with and Antetokounmpo is turning 31 years old in December. Now years removed from winning his first championship, there still doesn't appear to be a realistic path back for Milwaukee to return to the NBA Finals in the next three years. He is reportedly still in Greece and there's no timeline for a meeting with the Bucks' organization. If Antetokounmpo isn't happy with the Bucks' plan and requests a trade, Amick speculated that the All-Star forward could propose a few teams that he would approve a trade to. If that happens, it would limit Milwaukee's negotiating power and significantly reduce how effective their rebuild can be with a weaker return in a blockbuster trade. Rockets Open To Trading Alperen Sengun For Giannis Antetokounmpo, Per Reports
Ever since the Bucks' season ended, the questions around Giannis Antetokounmpo's future have flooded the NBA media. After a recent report from ESPN's Shams Charania claimed Antetokounmpo is open to considering a future away from Milwaukee, analysts around the world started looking at potential landing spots for the Bucks' superstar. Following this, sources claimed the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs were frontrunners to land Giannis Antetokounmpo in a trade. Now, according to a report from NBC Sports, the Rockets are open to considering trading Alperen Sengun if it means getting Giannis Antetokounmpo to Houston. Advertisement The Turkish All-Star had a breakout season last year, where he nearly averaged a double-double. After signing a max extension with the Rockets last summer, Sengun averaged 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 76 games this season. At only 22 years of age, Sengun may be a young star who is promising enough for the Bucks to consider trading Antetokounmpo for. However, the report also states that the Bucks may prefer a trade package centered around Jalen Green instead of Sengun. It also says Jabari Smith Jr will likely be included in the trade package. However, we believe the Rockets can find a trade for Giannis without giving either of these two young players up. At age 30, Giannis Antetokounmpo is in the prime of his career. This season, he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in 67 games played. He could be the superstar that the Rockets need to become a true title contender after exiting in the first round of the Playoffs despite a home-court advantage and the No. 2 seed in the season. What Could A Trade Package For Giannis Antetokounmpo Look Like? The Rockets currently have a logjam of young talent struggling to get minutes, like Cam Whitmore and Reed Sheppard. Both promising first-round picks have arguably not yet found a place in Ime Udoka's rotation plans. However, considering the leaps taken this season by the likes of Amen Thompson and Tari Eason, maybe it's time for the Rockets to bid farewell to Dillon Brooks in a potential trade for Antetokounmpo. Advertisement Therefore, I suggest the following trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo: Milwaukee Bucks get: Alperen Sengun, Dillon Brooks, 2025 first-round pick (pick 10 in the upcoming draft), and 2031 first-round pick Houston Rockets get: Giannis Antetokounmpo Considering that the Bucks will look to rebuild around Sengun in this scenario, the pick for the upcoming draft can be enticing enough for the Bucks to build their future around, and give up Giannis in the process. Sengun is a proven talent who could flourish with Damian Lillard at the Bucks. He should be valued enough by the Rockets to avoid giving up further assets beyond the upcoming pick. Advertisement Including Dillon Brooks in the trade package would help match the salary requirements as well as clear the logjam in the wing talent available for the Rockets. He's a veteran in the league who can help Sengun and the new rookie, whoever they draft with the No. 10 pick, to develop and grow with the Bucks. It's a win-win for both teams. The ideal starting line-up for the Rockets if they trade for Giannis would look something like: PG: Fred VanVleet SG: Jalen Green SF: Amen Thompson PF: Jabari Smith Jr C: Giannis Antetokounmpo With more rotation minutes for Cam Whitmore, Reed Sheppard, and Tari Eason, the Rockets will truly find a balance in growing their young talent and becoming a genuine title contender. Should they give up Sengun for a future looking like this? Related: Rockets Cite $66 Million Factor In Not Trading Jalen Green For Devin Booker, Per Reports

Giannis Antetokounmpo Hints Where He Could Play After NBA Retirement
While the basketball world awaits Giannis Antetokounmpo breaking the silence on his plans for his future in the NBA, the Greek star seems to have taken up a side quest. The Bucks' superstar Antetokounmpo has been responding to fan queries on X (formerly known as Twitter) about anything and everything except his near future. Looking at his own long-term future, however, was not something that he had an issue doing on X. When a fan asked him to come to Fenerbahce, the Turkish basketball team, he did not hesitate in responding. Advertisement "Maybe when I retire from the NBA. Fener or Efes?", wrote Antetokounmpo on X. Anadolu Efes S.K. is another Turkish basketball team where Antetokounmpo might consider playing after he ends his NBA career in maybe eight or ten years. Giannis found himself in the middle of trade rumors after the Bucks' embarrassing first-round exit in five games against the Pacers. An ESPN report claimed the Bucks' star is open to considering leaving Milwaukee for the first time in his NBA career. Antetokounmpo was the 15th overall pick for the Bucks in 2013 and has ever since only played for them. Antetokounmpo has played 12 seasons for the Bucks. He has averaged 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 859 regular-season games. Therefore, the two-time MVP being open to leaving Milwaukee for the first time came as a shock to all basketball fans. Where Antetokounmpo Could End Up If He Requests A Trade While several sources have claimed that the Greek star is fascinated by the idea of joining big teams like the Nets or Knicks, some realistic landing spots for him include San Antonio and Houston. Advertisement According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets are in the best-suited position to put in a realistically acceptable offer for the two-time MVP. Warriors insider Logan Murdock also claimed that Giannis was fascinated by the idea of joining alliances with Stephen Curry, but the Warriors just don't have the resources to make a move for him. Sources also claimed that the Rockets are willing to consider trading their young starting center Alperen Sengun, who became an All-Star for the first time this season. A realistic offer for the Bucks would be something they can build their future on. For the Spurs, it would mean that Keldon Johnson or Devin Vassell will be a part of the package that could pair up Wembanyama and Antetokounmpo in the frontcourt. Until the Greek superstar decides on his future, several teams are expected to hold back on making major trade moves in hopes of being in the sweepstakes for him. This will undoubtedly be the biggest move of the NBA in the summer if the Bucks' star decides to move. Related: Giannis Antetokounmpo Attends Event In San Francisco Amid Warriors Trade Rumors

Husband running errand for his wife wins huge lottery prize with lucky number
An Illinois man won a huge lottery prize after he bought a scratch-off ticket while running an errand for his wife. 'My wife wanted a soda, so I ran out to a nearby gas station. At the checkout, I decided to pick up a couple of scratch-off tickets, too,' he told lottery officials, according to a May 16 news release from the Illinois Lottery. He had no idea that running to the gas station in River Grove to buy his wife a drink and grabbing a $10 Jumbo Bucks ticket would lead to him winning $1 million. 'When I scratched the ticket at home and realized I'd won a million dollars, I was in total shock— but my wife was even more stunned. She didn't believe me at all. I had to scan the ticket on my app to prove it, and even then, she still thought I was playing a prank on her,' the man told lottery officials. His wife said she never imagined this would happen. 'Of course this is amazing, but it's also hard to wrap your head around. We've never known anyone who's won a prize this big, so you start to think, maybe this doesn't actually happen – but we are now proof that it really does. We feel incredibly lucky, grateful, and honestly still surprised,' she told lottery officials. The man nicknamed himself 'Fateful 56' because he said the number brought him luck. 'The winning number on the ticket was 56 — and I'm 56 years old. I guess you could say I'm his lucky charm,' his wife said, according to lottery officials. When the man sent a photo of his winning ticket to one of his best friends, the friend responded with a photo of his motorcycle's license plate, with the number 56 on it. 'I actually picked the ticket because I saw the name 'Bucks' on it. I'm a hunter, and I thought it was a hunting-themed ticket — turned out, I was wrong,' the man told lottery officials. River Grove is about a 15-mile drive northwest from downtown Chicago.

"For the first time in his 12-year NBA career, he is open-minded about whether his best fit is in Milwaukee" - Shams reports Giannis may be considering moving to another team
Throughout the Milwaukee Bucks' ups and downs in his 12 seasons there, Giannis Antetokounmpo's loyalty to the franchise has not wavered. He has asserted on numerous occasions that he feels right at home with the Bucks, provided he and the franchise are on the same page regarding the end goal: winning championships. And while they achieved that feat in 2021, the team hasn't moved forward much since then, winning only one playoff series and exiting in the first round in the last two postseasons. That said, ESPN's Senior NBA Insider Shams Charania broke the news on Monday morning that the "Greek Freak" is reportedly open to exploring his options elsewhere in the league for the first time in his career. Will Giannis ask to be traded? The Bucks' superstar has a lot to think about right now. Now 30 and turning 31 when the new season tips off later this year, the clock is ticking on his prime. And with the Bucks' roster looking worse for wear, especially with All-Star guard Damian Lillard expected to miss most, if not all, of next season because of the Achilles tendon tear he suffered this postseason, the chances of the Bucks making a deep playoff run next year seem slim. Advertisement "Giannis Antetokounmpo, the two-time NBA MVP, he has not made any firm decisions about his future. But sources tell me for the first time in his 12-year NBA career, he is open-minded about whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or playing elsewhere—and exploring what those options outside of Milwaukee look like," Shams announced on "Get Up." The news is timely, especially with NBA teams' decision makers present in Chicago for the NBA Draft Combine. This provides the perfect opportunity for executives to discuss potential trades for Antetokounmpo. "There's going to be plenty of natural, substantive conversations that are going to be taking place here," the renowned analyst added. Advertisement Related: 'His dad's been trying to get him out of here for a while' - Andre Iguodala says Klay Thompson's dad had been asking his son to join the Lakers for years Giannis is most loyal to winning The versatile 6'11" big man hasn't shied away from addressing trade rumors in recent years, often hinting — sometimes playfully — at the possibility of joining another team if the Bucks' front office fails to prioritize championship contention. While he remains deeply loyal to the city and the organization that believed in him as a raw, promising 19-year-old, his ultimate allegiance lies with winning. "I always envisioned myself to be in Milwaukee for a long time. And I always say that I want to play 20 years. I want to be like Tim Duncan, like Kobe [Bryant], all those guys that played with one team for a lot of years and won the championship. But at the end of the day, before loyalty, winning comes first. We are judged on winning. I'm a winner. I want to win," Antetokounmpo once said. Advertisement In his report, Charania stressed this point once again. "And we've known over the last several years, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been very open-minded about at least expressing that he is going to explore options, because his goal is to win a championship. He said it over the years—'My goal, I only want to win and compete for rings,'" Shams continued. "He said it on his brother Thanasis's podcast last month: 'If I retire without winning a second championship, I'm not going to be able to essentially sleep at night.'" While Giannis' future remains uncertain, what isn't is his place in the NBA. He remains one of the most dominant players in the league and is coming off an MVP-caliber season where he averaged 30.4 points on 60 percent shooting, 11.9 boards and 6.5 assists per game. As stellar as those numbers were, he turned his game up another level in the postseason, averaging 33.0 points, 15.4 rebounds and 6.6 dimes in the Bucks' five-game loss to the Indiana Pacers in the first round. The summer is quickly becoming the "Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes," and it remains to be seen which team will come out on top.
