Alas Pilipinas Men sweep Vietnam to open SEA V.League campaign in Candon City
The Alas Pilipinas Men team opened its campaign in the first leg of SEA with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 victory against Vietnam on Wednesday at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur.
The Philippines and Vietnam were tied in the third set, 19-19, before Vietnam's errors marred their final stretch. Buds Buddin also came to the rescue for the Philippines as he made two points in the said 5-0 run, including the last point which sealed the victory.
Leo Ordiales, however, stood out in the match as he made a game-high 20 points, all from attacks, to lead Alas Pilipinas. Buddin, meanwhile, had 16 points from 12 attacks and four blocks.
Ngoc Thuan Nguyen led the Vietnam squad with 13 points from 11 attacks, a block, and an ace.
The Philippines will face Thailand next on Thursday.
