Cha Eun-woo's Memories VR concert: Become his 'girlfriend' in romantic fantasy show, Entertainment News
For a grand total of 45 minutes, my colleague Yuanru and I escaped reality and had the thrill of being in a love story with a very special oppa. We attended Cha Eun-woo's VR concert Memories at GV Bugis+ yesterday (July 30), where the South Korean actor-singer tried to woo us with songs and sweet nothings. Each seat comes with a VR headset and after putting it on, we flicked our hands to unveil stunning visuals of Eun-woo on interactive floating photocards. The show begins with a mystical message slip delivered by the 28-year-old himself, which says: "This is a romantic fantasy. You and I are the main characters." If his allusion of a romance with us wasn't bold enough, oppa also appears close-up in my personal space and looks directly into my eyes - which got me feeling mildly flustered, even as a non-fan. We enter a lovers-to-exes storyline, where Eun-woo tries to get over us — his ex-girlfriend Roha, short for Aroha, the fandom name of K-pop boy band Astro of which he's a member. Heartbroken, he sings various passion-filled songs - including Stay, F**king Great Time, U&I, You're the Best and Memories - in an attempt to profess his unending feelings for us. Imagine a sappy romantic K-drama with all the works: Premium flashes of Eun-woo's abs while he's looking like an angel clad in all-white; him getting all cute and Christmasy with his pet dog Dongdong, who ended up stealing the show; backdrops that include a gazebo, a park and his room filled with memories of our relationship with him; and a comedic portrayal of the five stages of grief, where he gets adorably drunk resulting in our theatre going into a state of hysteria. At multiple climactic points in the concert, we are presented with three options to progress through the storyline, and the ending is specific to each screening through audience consensus. 'Beyond just a concert' Despite only being less than an hour, the experience stood out due to how realistic our moments with Eun-woo felt. Time was spent on building our chemistry with him and his acting performances connected us deeper, even as some of the cheesy lines made for an amusing time. And it's definitely heartwarming to 'see him' especially now that he has enlisted. The name of the concert - Memories - becomes more apt, because this is what fans will remember of him until he returns from his service in two years. He began his mandatory military service in the South Korean army brass band on July 28, according to a statement by his agency Fantagio. View this post on Instagram A post shared by 차은우 (@eunwo.o_c) And certainly, he's sure to come back with a bang. After all, Eun-woo spoke last night: "How we continue this story will be our fate." Memories will be screened from July 31 to Aug 16 exclusively at Golden Village Bugis+, with tickets priced at $38 for members and $40 for the public. The first 300 viewers will receive a limited-edition poster, while all ticket-holders will get a photocard. [[nid:720751]] No part of this article can be reproduced without permission from AsiaOne.

Danish lifestyle brand Flying Tiger Copenhagen opens first store in Singapore
Something playful, colourful and undeniably Danish has just rolled into town. The beloved Danish lifestyle brand Flying Tiger Copenhagen made its official debut in Singapore at Bugis+ on Monday (Jul 28), located at level 2 of the mall. This marks the brand's fourth destination in Southeast Asia, following launches in Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines, all of which are in partnership with lifestyle retailer PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP). Flying Tiger Copenhagen is known worldwide for turning everyday essentials into fun, functional treasures, from vibrant stationery and clever gadgets to joyful homeware and thoughtful gifts – all with a Scandinavian twist. To celebrate the grand opening, there is an interactive pop-up at the Bugis+ atrium, running from Aug 1 to 3. Expect mini games, a spin-the-wheel station and exclusive prizes up for grabs all in true Flying Tiger style. In a statement, CEO Martin Jermiin, said: "We're thrilled to open our first store in Singapore and look forward to becoming part of this vibrant retail landscape. Our success across Asia continues to build strong momentum, and we're confident that our entry into Singapore will be a valuable addition." Flying Tiger Copenhagen began its journey as a flea market stall in 1988. In 1995, the first official store opened with every item priced at 10 Danish kroner (US$1.55). They now have more than 1,000 stores in 39 countries. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Flying Tiger Singapore (@flyingtigersgp)

Danish lifestyle brand Flying Tiger Copenhagen opens first Singapore store at Bugis+
Find out what's new on ST website and app. The 157 sq m space is packed with toys, games and gadgets, as well as leisure, home and kitchen products. SINGAPORE – Danish lifestyle brand Flying Tiger Copenhagen, known for its colourful and affordable products for the home and office, has opened its first Singapore store at Bugis+ on July 28. Packed with toys, games and gadgets, as well as leisure, home and kitchen products, the 157 sq m space sits on the mall's second floor. It is similar in spirit to lifestyle retailers such as Australian brand Typo and Chinese label Miniso. A cross between Swedish home retailer Ikea and Japanese consumer store Daiso comes to mind, as Flying Tiger Copenhagen showcases a Scandinavian design sensibility in its everyday products. Most items in the Singapore store are priced under $20. The most expensive is a $45 skateboard, while foam water guns are priced at $2. To celebrate the opening, the brand is hosting an interactive pop-up at the Bugis+ atrium from Aug 1 to 3, featuring mini games, a spin-the-wheel station and prizes up for grabs. The Singapore store is the brand's latest step in its Asia-Pacific expansion, which kicked off with Indonesia and the Philippines in 2023, followed by Australia and Vietnam in 2024. Concurrently, the brand's first Malaysian store opened its doors in Johor Bahru's Aeon Mall Tebrau City on July 28. Top stories Swipe. Select. Stay informed. The store's range draws from the same product catalogue of its home stores in Denmark, and are made by the same factories, mostly in China. Mr Martin Jermiin, chief executive of Flying Tiger Copenhagen, tells The Straits Times: 'Since joining Flying Tiger Copenhagen as CEO in 2019, I've had the privilege of leading the brand through a transformational phase of global expansion. Singapore represents a pivotal market in our Asian expansion strategy.' The Singapore store is the brand's latest step in its Asia-Pacific expansion. ST PHOTO: GIN TAY 'Our mission is 'a richer life doesn't cost a fortune'. We strive to bring a sense of surprise and joy into every store visit by providing our customers with a broad, compelling assortment of everyday essentials combined with ever-evolving, inspirational new offerings,' he adds. The brand began as a flea market stall in the late 1980s, with the first bricks-and-mortar store opening in Copenhagen in 1995, where every item was priced at 10 Danish kroner (S$2). A 10 kroner coin is known as a 'tier' in Denmark – which is similar to the Danish pronunciation of 'tiger'. In this light, the first store took the moniker of 'Tiger', and subsequent stores continued to be known as 'Tiger' until 2016. The name was then officially changed to Flying Tiger Copenhagen, as the Tiger name had not been usable in certain markets. As at 2025, it has more than 1,000 stores in 39 markets. Food Picks: Chinese-Korean barbecue restaurant Xita Lao Tai Tai debuts at Bugis+
Xita Lao Tai Tai's pineapple glazed beef rib finger is marinated in pineapple and comes with extra pineapple slices for grilling. PHOTO: XITA LAO TAI TAI SINGAPORE – Marrying both on-trend cuisines from South Korea and China is the Korean-influenced barbecue restaurant Xita Lao Tai Tai. With more than 600 outlets across China, the brand made its debut at Bugis+ with a 120-seat restaurant in April. The 'lao tai tai' (old lady in Chinese) mentioned in the restaurant's name is n ot a fictional character. This Korean matriarch, now in her 80s, is said to have started a clay-stove barbecue stall servi ng grilled meat in the 1950s in Xita, a neighbourhood in Shenyang, known for having the largest Koreatown in north-east China. Since then, her stall has evolved into the popular modernised barbecue chain of today, which still specialises in grilling meat over charcoal in a clay stove. Xita Lao Tai Tai is brought in by Bao Shi F&B Management, the food company behind restaurant chains The Hainan Story and Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice. I recommend focusing on the menu's tender and juicy beef cuts, as they outshine the pork in the flavour department. Xita Lao Tai Tai's menu focuses on a variety of beef cuts. PHOTO: XITA LAO TAI TAI Highlights include the Xita fatty beef short plate ($27.90), flagship feather blade steak (from $36.90), Xita speciality sliced beef chuck ($30.90) and marbled beef short rib ($44.90). The pineapple glazed beef rib finger ($34.90) is marinated in pineapple for tenderness and comes wit h pineapple slices. Pair the sweet, grilled pineapple with the beef for the perfect bite. To complement the meats, there is free flow of side dishes (at no extra cost), such as kimchi, mashed potato and pumpkin soup. Accompanying condiments include a signature sesame sauce mixed with onions and coriander, a spicy dipping sauce and a Chinese-style savoury dry spice blend. Besides barbecued items, the restaurant offers an array of noodles, rice and cooked dishes – good for solo diners who may want to have just one portion of grilled meat with noodles. Xita Lao Tai Tai's cold buckwheat noodles. PHOTO: XITA LAO TAI TAI I enjoy the refreshing Korean-style cold buckwheat noodles ($16.90) and Korean-style fried chicken (from $12.90), along with the Chinese-style cold dressed chicken ($12.90). Wash everything down with a green apple squash ($6.50), Korean yuzu tea (from $4.80) or go all out with a beer tower ($60) or moutai tower ($68).
