Nagpur ZP to Build 40 ‘Super Anganwadis' with Uniform Design and Modern Facilities
Nagpur: In a major boost to rural child care infrastructure, 40 new 'super anganwadis' will be constructed in Nagpur district. The Zilla Parishad has granted administrative approval for the project under the District Annual Plan 2024–25 and the 15th Finance Commission. Each anganwadi centre will be built at a cost of ₹19 lakh—significantly higher than the current standard of ₹11.25 lakh. These centres will feature uniform construction, upgraded amenities, and a focus on child-friendly learning environments. "All centres will be identical in terms of colour, design, structure, tiles, and other architectural features. This will bring standardisation and uniformity across centres, making them model institutions," said ZP CEO Vinayak Mahamuni. The project's funding includes ₹4.5 crore under the District Annual Plan for construction, ₹88.59 lakh for electrification (₹25,982 per centre), and ₹1.20 crore for kitchen modernisation (₹2 lakh per centre). Additionally, ₹3.34 crore of unspent funds under the 15th Finance Commission—comprising both restricted and unrestricted grants from 2022–25—has been approved for convergence. The 'Super 40' anganwadis will also be equipped with rainwater harvesting systems, promoting environmental sustainability. These features were approved via a resolution passed in the Administrator's Working Committee meeting held on May 23. Construction responsibilities have been assigned to the executive engineer (Construction), who is tasked with ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards. Monthly progress reports will be submitted jointly by the executive engineer and the district programme officer (DPO). The DPO's countersignature will be mandatory for all payments. Notably, these anganwadis will follow the BALA (Building as Learning Aid) model—a concept that transforms physical infrastructure into an interactive learning tool, enriching the educational experience for children. With nearly 150 more anganwadis still needed across the district, officials see this initiative as a crucial first step toward comprehensive improvement. The standardised 'Super 40' centres are expected to serve as reference models for future anganwadi construction, significantly enhancing access to early childhood care and education in rural Nagpur. Adani Foundation transforms lives in Amethi
Amethi: The Adani Foundation is actively engaged in a range of social development projects across Amethi, focusing on education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, and community infrastructure. The Foundation is supporting the development of model solar villages under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. In a recent effort to support public health, the Foundation distributed nutrition kits to 100 tuberculosis patients in the district. It is also contributing to community development through projects in water conservation and rural infrastructure, along with livelihood support initiatives for persons with disabilities. The foundation also distributed tables and chairs to 11 Anganwadi centres and facilitated 'BaLA' (Building as Learning Aid) wall paintings in 10 govt schools. These initiatives were carried out under the aegis of the Adani ACC Cement Plant located in Tikaria Panchayat. Working with a mission to improve the lives of 3.7 million people annually, the Adani Foundation operates across four key thematic areas, education, health, sustainable livelihood, and community infrastructure.
