Metea Valley Theater in Aurora to present ‘Legally Blonde the Musical'
Metea Valley Theater will present 'Legally Blonde the Musical,' an award-winning musical based on the hit movie, in four performances this spring. A preview show featuring the understudies will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in the Metea Valley High School auditorium, 1801 N. Eola Road, Aurora. Three other performances will be held at 7 p.m. May 1-3 at the school. The show follows the transformation of Elle Woods and her journey to Harvard Law School after she breaks up with her boyfriend. Seats are assigned and can be ordered online starting March 29 at Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors. Jazz vocalist to perform at St. Charles Public Library Chicago jazz vocalist Petra van Nuis will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. in St. Charles. She will be singing with pianist Dennis Luxion, who was jazz legend Chet Baker's pianist in Europe in the 1980s, according to a press release about the event. Program on '70s women singer-songwriters planned at museum Elgin Public Museum Director Sharry Blazier will present a program on 'Women Singer-Songwriters of the 1970s: Their Lives, Their Music' from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27. Among the artists Blazier will discuss are Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Carly Simon and Janis Ian, according to a news release. She will share the personal stories of the major artists of that era and discuss how they crafted their music. Admission is $3 for museum members, $5 for nonmembers. The federation was formed in 1993 by 75 martial arts masters from around the world to unify the community and work together toward world peace, according to the group's website. Garrison is the owner and operator of Barrington Tiger Academy, a traditional, family-focused mixed martial arts school that opened in 1984. He is an 11-time black Belt Grand Champion, whose career includes induction into the Asian Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2016, Action Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2015, USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2008 and World Mudo Federation Hall of Fame in 2006.
