KUWAIT CITY, July 6: Al-Qadsiya handball team is close to completing the signing of Al-Salmiya Club star Haidar Dashti for the upcoming 2025–2026 season, as well as acquiring Hamoud Al-Adwani from Burgan Club. The team kicked off its preparations for the new season early, having already brought in Ahmed Abdulhadi and goalkeeper Mishaal Al-Shatti to strengthen the first-team squad. The club is also actively pursuing three foreign professionals—two of whom will play on the court and one to be positioned as a substitute—under the league's foreign player participation rule for the upcoming season. In addition to foreign reinforcements, the club is relying on a core group of experienced national players, especially after its strong performance last season. The 'Banu Qadis' won the First Division League title, securing promotion to the Premier League, and also made a deep run to the Federation Cup final, narrowly losing to Kuwait Club by a single goal. Its cup journey included notable victories over Al-Fahaheel, Burgan (league runner-up), and Kazma. KUWAIT CITY, May 14: Kuwait Club's first volleyball team claimed the Kuwait Premier League title, marking the 16th championship in the club's history and its fourth consecutive crown. Kuwait Club secured the title after defeating Burgan Club 3-0 in the second match of the playoff semifinals, held at Union Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Burgan Club celebrated a historic runner-up finish—the highest in its volleyball history—while Al-Arabi Club took third place with a 3-1 win over Kazma. According to league regulations, the Premier League champion is determined in a best-of-three playoff series. Kuwait Club secured the title early by winning both matches 3-0, making a third game unnecessary. Following the final, Dr. Jaber Al-Marri, President of the Kuwait Volleyball Association, along with Association members, Burgan Club President Anwar Al-Otaibi, and Kuwait Club representatives, crowned the top three teams. Dr. Al-Marri praised the high level of competition this season, stating that the 2024-2025 campaign was among the most competitive in recent years, with teams like Al-Qadsia, Al-Arabi, and Kazma fighting for the title until the final stages. He added that such competitiveness promises an even more exciting upcoming season and hopes for continued strong fan support. He also emphasized that the improvement in club-level performances reflects positively on the national team, expressing gratitude to the Public Authority for Sports and its acting director, Bashar Abdullah, for their ongoing support.
