Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Hauer's 'nasty' confession about ex husband Kevin Clifton

The Strictly Come Dancing professional has now split from her third husband, Jordan Wyn-Jones. Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer has split from her fitness pro husband, Jordan Wyn-Jones. It comes after the dancer was pictured without her wedding ring last week, just 16 months after the couple married. ‌ Jordan is Karen's third husband, with her first being former dance partner Matthew Hauer and her second fellow Strictly dancer Kevin Clifton who has now been with Stacey Dooley for five years. Karen said she was 'blindsided' by how quickly Kevin moved on in 2018, and was left 'struggling to get out of bed'. ‌ The star described the break-up with Kevin as the 'toughest period of her life' and praised her rescue dog Betty for helping her through the hard times, reports The Mirror. The pair married in 2015 after meeting on the New York leg of long-running live dance show Burn The Floor in 2011. ‌ At the time, Kevin was still with his second wife, ballet dancer Clare Craze, and he had also previously married amateur Latin world champion Anna Melnikova in 2003. According to Kevin, Venezuelan pro dancer Karen was everything he had been looking for. Of that time, he once said: "I wasn't myself - a lot of friends and family were telling me that. It was just a bit of a weird time. When I met Karen, I could get on with her on a completely different level." In 2015, he proposed on stage during a performance of Burn The Floor on Karen's birthday, and they married that same year in London. But looking back, Karen said it might have been too much, too soon, telling Closer magazine: "I don't think we were ready for marriage. We were still growing as performers, as people, as lovers, and sometimes you just can't find the right way to fix things." By 2016, rumours of trouble in paradise were swirling, and Karen recently revealed that their relationship "got really nasty overnight" as she battled with her mounting jealousy. ‌ "It's six years down the line and things started going wrong, just little things, like a phone call, like, 'You didn't call me the whole day'", she told The Divorce Club podcast. Of Kevin's reaction to her challenges, she continued: "Sometimes I would get the 'You're not very kind, you're not very nice' and I was like 'What do you mean? I don't understand.' There were little attacks that we would do to each other." But according to Karen, the rot really set in when she clung on tighter to the marriage amid her own sense of insecurity - a move which only caused more rows. ‌ She explained: "Then the fights, I was getting jealous, but I was only jealous because I wasn't getting the attention that I wanted from my husband and then I didn't understand why so I started gripping, trying to pull him. 'Why are you not doing this? Why are you not doing that?' Exactly what you're not supposed to do, I just wanted answers. And then it just got really nasty overnight." They tried therapy, but Karen said there was "too much anger and emotional baggage" for it to work. And finally, they woke up one morning, looked at each other and 'knew' it was over. "Eventually we both couldn't take it anymore," she added. ‌ Kevin and Karen confirmed their split in early 2018 but continued to work together on Strictly, which understandably made moving on more difficult. Especially as Karen admitted she'd wanted to save their marriage. "I would have never let go of it. I wouldn't have never, never let go of it." She continued. "I would have liked to have fought for it and it took me a year after we separated to actually let go of him. It took me a long time to cut the umbilical cord that I had connected to him. Because it was connected for such a long time and at a completely different level than my first marriage, because this marriage was what I was always looking for." Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Hauer's Kevin Clifton split 'got really nasty'

Karen Hauer has separated from her husband, fitness expert Jordan Wyn-Jones, following a 'difficult' period in their relationship Strictly Come Dancing sensation Karen Hauer parted ways with her husband, fitness guru Jordan Wyn-Jones, after facing a 'difficult' patch in their marriage. ‌ The split came to light when the dance star was seen without her wedding band at the Pride of Britain Awards last year, just 16 months after their wedding. ‌ An insider told the Mirror the separation is 'deeply saddening for both parties', but stressed there's 'absolutely no animosity between them', adding: "The split is amicable, and they wish each other the best." ‌ Jordan marks Karen's third walk down the aisle, having previously been married to her one-time dance partner Matthew Hauer and then to 'Strictly' colleague Kevin Clifton - who has been with his current beau, Stacey Dooley, for five years now. Karen has openly discussed feeling 'completely blindsided' by Kevin's swift move on in 2018, which left her struggling 'battling to get out of bed'. She described the breakup as the 'most challenging time of her existence', expressing gratitude to her rescue dog Betty for providing solace during her tough times, reports Wales Online. ‌ The duo, who tied the knot in 2015, originally met while performing in the New York run of the acclaimed dance show 'Burn The Floor' back in 2011. During this time, Kevin was still wed to his second wife, ballet dancer Clare Craze, who he had met at a London salsa club in 2007 before exchanging vows at St Mary's Church in Clare's hometown of Wivenhoe, Essex. Yet their union crumbled following their move to the UK with the show, and Kevin - who had previously wed amateur Latin world champion Anna Melnikova in 2003 - started his romance with Karen soon after. ‌ Kevin once confessed that Venezuelan professional dancer Karen was exactly what he had been looking for. He said: "I wasn't myself - a lot of friends and family were telling me that. It was just a bit of a weird time. When I met Karen, I could get on with her on a completely different level." In 2015, he proposed on stage during a Burn The Floor performance on Karen's birthday, with the pair marrying in London later that year. ‌ Yet looking back on their rapid romance, Karen admitted to Closer magazine that perhaps they had rushed things. She revealed: "I don't think we were ready for marriage. We were still growing as performers, as people, as lovers, and sometimes you just can't find the right way to fix things." By 2016, rumours of marital strife started to emerge, and Karen has since revealed their relationship "got really nasty overnight" as she battled mounting jealousy. "It's six years down the line and things started going wrong, just little things, like a phone call, like, 'You didn't call me the whole day','" she divulged on The Divorce Club podcast. Discussing Kevin's reaction to her worries, she added: "Sometimes I would get the 'You're not very kind, you're not very nice' and I was like 'What do you mean? I don't understand.' There were little attacks that we would do to each other." ‌ Karen admitted that the real decline in their relationship began when she clung more tightly to the marriage out of her own insecurities, which only led to more disputes. She said: "Then the fights, I was getting jealous, but I was only jealous because I wasn't getting the attention that I wanted from my husband and then I didn't understand why so I started gripping, trying to pull him. 'Why are you not doing this? Why are you not doing that?' Exactly what you're not supposed to do, I just wanted answers. And then it just got really nasty overnight." ‌ Despite trying counselling, Karen admitted there was "too much anger and emotional baggage" for it to work. One morning they woke up, looked at each other, and 'knew' it was over. "Eventually we both couldn't take it anymore," she said. Kevin and Karen publicly confirmed their split in early 2018 but continued to work together on Strictly, complicating their efforts to move on. Karen Hauer opened up about her desire to save her marriage, admitting: "I would have never let go of it. I wouldn't have never, never let go of it," she said. ‌ She reflected on the difficulty of moving on: "I would have liked to have fought for it and it took me a year after we separated to actually let go of him. It took me a long time to cut the umbilical cord that I had connected to him. Because it was connected for such a long time and at a completely different level than my first marriage, because this marriage was what I was always looking for." Despite couples therapy not being effective for them, Karen sought personal therapy to heal post-separation. In 2018, she told Mail Online: "I've taken a big hit. I had to realise I'm 36 years old. I'm not a kid and it has taken me a lot of therapy and life coaching to get through this. I have found it really difficult." At that time, she also shared her approach to tackling anxiety, revealing she underwent hypnotherapy and attended therapy sessions twice a month. Following their split, Kevin Clifton started a relationship with his 2018 Strictly Come Dancing partner Stacey Dooley, while Karen found companionship with opera singer David Webb. Despite their personal lives taking different paths, the pair have maintained a friendly rapport, supporting each other's professional successes. Karen was quick to congratulate Kevin and Stacey on their 2018 Strictly win, and he reciprocated by cheering for her and celebrity dance partner Jamie Laing in 2020.

Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Hauer admits split with Kevin Clifton 'got really nasty'

Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Hauer admits split with Kevin Clifton 'got really nasty' Strictly Come Dancing pro Karen Hauer has split from her third husband, fitness professional Jordan Wyn-Jones, just 16 months after they tied the knot Karen Hauer and Kevin Clifton (Image: Karwai Tang/WireImage) Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Hauer has separated from her husband, fitness expert Jordan Wyn-Jones, following a 'difficult' period in their relationship. ‌ The surprising development emerged after the professional dancer was spotted without her wedding ring at the Pride of Britain Awards last year, merely 16 months after the pair exchanged vows. ‌ A source revealed to the Mirror it's 'deeply saddening for both parties' but emphasised there is 'absolutely no animosity between them', stating: "The split is amicable, and they wish each other the best." ‌ Jordan represents Karen's third marriage, following her initial union with former dance partner Matthew Hauer and her subsequent relationship with fellow Strictly professional Kevin Clifton - who began dating his current partner, Stacey Dooley, five years ago. Karen admitted she felt 'completely blindsided' by the speed of Kevin's new romance in 2018, leaving her 'battling to get out of bed'. The performer characterised the separation as the 'most challenging time of her existence' and credited her rescue dog Betty with helping her persevere through her ordeal. The couple, who wed in 2015, first encountered each other whilst performing in the New York production of the long-running live dance spectacular Burn The Floor in 2011, reports the Mirror. ‌ Karen Hauer has opened up about the collapse of her marriage to Kevin Clifton (Image: WireImage) During that period, Kevin remained married to his second wife, ballet performer Clare Craze, whom he encountered at a London salsa venue in 2007 before marrying at St Mary's Church in Clare's native Wivenhoe, Essex. However, their marriage deteriorated after relocating to the UK with the production, and Kevin - who had previously married amateur Latin world champion Anna Melnikova in 2003 - began his relationship with Karen shortly afterwards. ‌ Kevin once revealed Venezuelan professional dancer Karen was everything he had been searching for. He admitted: "I wasn't myself - a lot of friends and family were telling me that. It was just a bit of a weird time. When I met Karen, I could get on with her on a completely different level." In 2015, he popped the question on stage during a performance of Burn The Floor on Karen's birthday, and they tied the knot in London later that year. However, reflecting on their whirlwind romance, Karen told Closer magazine it might have been too much, too soon. She admitted: "I don't think we were ready for marriage. We were still growing as performers, as people, as lovers, and sometimes you just can't find the right way to fix things." ‌ Kevin proposed while the pair were on tour By 2016, whispers of trouble in their relationship began to circulate, and Karen recently disclosed their relationship "got really nasty overnight" as she grappled with escalating jealousy. "It's six years down the line and things started going wrong, just little things, like a phone call, like, 'You didn't call me the whole day','" she shared on The Divorce Club podcast. ‌ Speaking about Kevin's response to her concerns, she added: "Sometimes I would get the 'You're not very kind, you're not very nice' and I was like 'What do you mean? I don't understand.' There were little attacks that we would do to each other." But according to Karen, the deterioration truly began when she held on more desperately to the marriage due to her own feelings of insecurity - a decision which only sparked further arguments. She explained: "Then the fights, I was getting jealous, but I was only jealous because I wasn't getting the attention that I wanted from my husband and then I didn't understand why so I started gripping, trying to pull him. 'Why are you not doing this? Why are you not doing that?' Exactly what you're not supposed to do, I just wanted answers. And then it just got really nasty overnight." ‌ Kevin and Stacey share daughter, Minnie, born in January 2023 (Image: They attempted counselling, but Karen said there was "too much anger and emotional baggage" for it to be effective. Eventually, they awoke one morning, glanced at each other and 'knew' it was finished. "Eventually we both couldn't take it anymore," she added. Kevin and Karen announced their separation in early 2018 but carried on working alongside each other on Strictly, which naturally made moving forward more challenging. ‌ Particularly as Karen confessed she'd hoped to rescue their marriage. "I would have never let go of it. I wouldn't have never, never let go of it," she continued. "I would have liked to have fought for it and it took me a year after we separated to actually let go of him. It took me a long time to cut the umbilical cord that I had connected to him. Because it was connected for such a long time and at a completely different level than my first marriage, because this marriage was what I was always looking for." Karen and Jordan have now also split (Image: Instagram) Article continues below While couples therapy didn't work for them, Karen underwent her own therapy following the relationship breakdown and mended her broken heart. She revealed to the Mail Online in 2018: "I've taken a big hit. I had to realise that I'm 36 years old. I'm not a kid and it has taken me a lot of therapy and life coaching to get through this. Kevin subsequently began dating his 2018 Strictly partner Stacey, whilst Karen moved forward with opera singer David Webb. It was during in his former job on Dancing with the Stars, which is the Oz version of Strictly, and dints the idea that he is as "squeaky clean" as British show bosses hoped. The ballroom and Latin American expert said: 'Reality TV is not necessarily what you think. A massive aspect of reality TV is not really real. "I remember in one episode of Dancing With The Stars, one of my celebrities was late to rehearsals and the producers were asking me to go around and pretend that I was frustrated. 'But she had something pop up and stuff happens sometimes and life gets in the way and we get a little bit late. It's not the biggest deal in the world. We just stay back a bit later. "But they made this whole kind of thing out of it. 'I think during my earlier experiences, whatever I was asked to say or do, I just thought 'It's a privilege for me to be here. I need them to like me. "So I'll just say and do whatever needs to be done'.' But Caillon claims he has more confidence to stand up for himself and insist he would no longer fake anything for the cameras. Strictly's Karen Hauer shares moment she knew she was 'losing' Kevin Clifton and reason for split

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Hauer recalled the moment she realised she was 'losing' ex-husband Kevin Clifton. Karen, 43, met fellow professional dancer Kevin, 42, when they were performing together in Burn The Floor in New York in 2011. Their relationship blossomed and the pair married in 2015. It was in 2012 however that the-then couple decided to try and move from the United States to the UK to take part in Strictly Come Dancing. The pair had both danced on Broadway and around the world while Karen had previously starred in So You Think You Can Dance in America. Strictly bosses recruited Karen as one of the professional dancers, but Kevin was resigned to being a choreographer for a series. Speaking on We Need to Talk with Paul Brunson, Karen says the couple found adapting to Strictly 'tough'. Eventually the couple found themselves drifting apart from each other, but Karen says neither of them wanted to initiate the split. It led them to 'pretend' they were still together for the show. (Image: Getty Images) She said: 'I felt that he distanced himself from me but I was probably doing the same because I felt if he didn't want me, I would retreat and give him his space. It was one of those that we're both not talking about it so I'm like, 'Do you want a divorce? Do you want to split up? I don't know what I want to do, what do you want to do? Do you know what I want?', 'I don't know what I want', 'Okay so are we broken up or?' 'It took a while actually, it took about a year behind the scenes. In front of the scenes everything was normal." Karen says she became frustrated 'waiting' for Kevin to decide whether they wanted to remain together. It is then she says she 'met someone' else. And while she was separated from Kevin at the time, she says she was portrayed as having cheated on her husband. It prompted Kevin to ask for a divorce she explained. She said: 'In my mind, it's almost like something had to happen in order for him to make a decision because I wasn't going to make a decision and pull the plug. Then I tripped and the grenade went off, I pulled the pin.' (Image: PA Archive/PA Images) Shortly before the split, Karen says there was a poignant moment on Strictly that made her realise she was 'losing' Kevin. She explained: 'There was one number that we did, and it was right before we broke up. It was for Remembrance Day and he was playing a soldier and I was taking the jacket off the table and dancing with it. 'Throughout the dance he comes back and dances with me and goes in and out of my life until I finish dancing with the jacket and placing it back on the table, it was literally I'd lost him and it was the end. 'I remember when we finished that, we looked at each other, and we record this in front of an audience as well, so they only give you one or two takes, so you have to get it right, that sentiment. And the sentiment wasn't hard to get into that story because I was experiencing it, because I was losing him.' A year after confirming their split, Kevin was partnered with Stacey Dooley on Strictly. Their relationship blossomed and they confirmed their romance in January 2019. The couple now share daughter Minnie together. Karen meanwhile remarried in 2022, tying the knot with Jordan Wyn-Jones. The couple however split in 2024. Karen is now dating rugby player Simon Davidson.
