Operation Basadi run in Sharpeville
SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville police, together with various stakeholders such as CPF, GTW, Home Affairs, Gauteng Traffic, Emfuleni Traffic, Department of Community Safety, and Siyabangena patrollers, conducted operation Basadi in the Sharpeville policing Precinct In line with Women's Month on Tuesday. This was also meant to honour the role of women in law enforcement. The operation was divided into three groups: Group 1 was the roadblock, which was held at the escort on Vaal Road opposite Powerville Park in Sharpeville. Group 2 was the school search, which was held at a local secondary school in conjunction with the Sedibeng Department of Education. Group 3 was the high-density. Police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango said that the operation yielded positive results, where fourteen traffic fines were issued, and 21 suspects were arrested for various crimes.

Two die, one in hospital after fatal accident
SHARPEVILLE.- A culpable homicide case is being investigated following a fatal accident that took place in Tshepiso Phase 1, Sharpeville in the early hours of Sunday, July 20. It is said that police were called to the scene of the accident that involved a white Toyota Etios that had crashed into a tree where it remained trapped. It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle before the crash. Police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango, said that upon arrival at the accident police discovered that three people had been injured. One person was taken to the Sharpeville Clinic and the other two to the Sebokeng Hospital. Two of the people involved in the accident later died due to the extent of their injuries, one at the Sharpeville Clinic and the other at the Sebokeng Hospital. 'We are investigating a culpable homicide case and, the investigations that are ongoing will determine the cause of the accident,' Sango confirmed. Murder inside Quantum
SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville police are investigating a murder case after a man was mysteriously killed in Sharpeville last week. The Sharpeville police responded to a complaint on Friday, at about 19:30 where a witness informed them that he was driving on Seeiso Street in the direction of Vereeniging when he heard gunshots inside a Quantum (taxi), said police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango, that is when he phoned the police. 'Upon further investigation, the police found a man lying inside the quantum with multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect is unknown at this stage and an investigation is underway,' Sango said. ‘Imbizo ya Madoda' programme
SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville police together with various stakeholders held an 'Imbizo ya Madoda' in Tshepiso Phase 3, Sharpeville recently. The stakeholders included the ward councillor, the Department of Correctional Services members, the Community Safety Department members, Spiritual Crime Prevention members, MASP, and the Community Policing Forum (CPF) members. The Imbizo was held under the theme: #RestoringDignityOfAmadoda. Sharpeville police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango said that the purpose of the campaign was to celebrate Father's Day with men who are not honoured and recognised as fathers in their households. 'We also aimed to have discussions around issues of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Femicide, Alcohol abuse, and the importance of spirituality of a man as a head of the family.' Man found killed near Vuka Cemetery
SHARPEVILLE. – The recent cleaning of the Vuka Cemetery has seemingly not deterred criminal activities around the graveyard. Sharpeville police were summoned to a murder scene at the K53 road next to the cemetery last week. Upon arrival, they found a man in his early thirties lying on his back. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man sustained open wounds on his body. 'Emergency services were summoned to the scene and declared the man dead,' said police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango. The deceased was later identified.
