Murder inside Quantum
SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville police are investigating a murder case after a man was mysteriously killed in Sharpeville last week. The Sharpeville police responded to a complaint on Friday, at about 19:30 where a witness informed them that he was driving on Seeiso Street in the direction of Vereeniging when he heard gunshots inside a Quantum (taxi), said police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango, that is when he phoned the police. 'Upon further investigation, the police found a man lying inside the quantum with multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect is unknown at this stage and an investigation is underway,' Sango said. Sharpeville police are pleading with the members of the community that anyone who might have information that could assist the police in this matter to contact the police on 08600 10111,112 or visit the Mysaps app which can be downloaded on any smartphone. ‘Imbizo ya Madoda' programme
SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville police together with various stakeholders held an 'Imbizo ya Madoda' in Tshepiso Phase 3, Sharpeville recently. The stakeholders included the ward councillor, the Department of Correctional Services members, the Community Safety Department members, Spiritual Crime Prevention members, MASP, and the Community Policing Forum (CPF) members. The Imbizo was held under the theme: #RestoringDignityOfAmadoda. Sharpeville police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango said that the purpose of the campaign was to celebrate Father's Day with men who are not honoured and recognised as fathers in their households. 'We also aimed to have discussions around issues of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Femicide, Alcohol abuse, and the importance of spirituality of a man as a head of the family.' Man found killed near Vuka Cemetery
SHARPEVILLE. – The recent cleaning of the Vuka Cemetery has seemingly not deterred criminal activities around the graveyard. Sharpeville police were summoned to a murder scene at the K53 road next to the cemetery last week. Upon arrival, they found a man in his early thirties lying on his back. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man sustained open wounds on his body. 'Emergency services were summoned to the scene and declared the man dead,' said police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango. The deceased was later identified.
