Police report has new details on MS nightclub attack
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — New information has been released regarding a man who was beaten, stripped, and robbed outside a Holly Springs nightclub last month for allegedly yelling racial slurs inside the establishment. WREG obtained the police report detailing the victim's statement given to police a few days after the incident at C.J.'s Lounge, a popular African-American club. According to the report, on May 18, between 12:30 and 2:30 a.m., Brian Keith Hill, victim left his home with a friend and headed to what he was told was a 'block party.' He and his friend arrived at C.J.'s Lounge after they had already started drinking at home a few hours beforehand. Original story: Deputies investigate man beaten, stripped over racial slur at MS club Hill told the sheriff's office that he remembered walking into the club, hanging out, and listening to music. He said he was holding a cup that he brought into the club and was drinking from it. The victim told police he remembered dancing and yelling at the friend he arrived with, calling him the 'N-word.' The report states that the victim then tried to leave the establishment. He did not remember much after that, other than being down on the ground and being physically dragged, kicked, and punched. The next thing he remembers is a police officer standing over him, speaking with a man who had been called to pick him up. He said he woke up in bed the next morning suffering from severe pain in his head and jaw. The report states that the victim had injuries to his head, both elbows, both hips, and his right foot. Investigators say the victim was beaten, robbed, and stripped of his clothing while several people recorded and laughed. The police report also notes that the victim reported $120 and several credit and debit cards were stolen. WREG spoke with a part-time security guard and DJ at the lounge after the incident. 'I was hearing him yell out and blare out the N-word repeatedly,' said Myles Stone. 'Everyone on planet earth has to live with their choices, and he walked in there with a choice to be very hateful, very negative.' Owner of MS club says man's beating not a hate crime Chevez Fitzpatrick, the owner of the Holly Springs club, previously told WREG the reported beating did not happen inside his business, and was not a hate crime. He said things turned ugly when it was time to close at 2 a.m., and the man started using the 'N-word' and got physical with C.J.'s security. Fitzpatrick said that after the man was removed, things escalated in the parking lot, with the man antagonizing a crowd gathered outside. That's where the alleged beating took place. Video of the moments leading up to the alleged beating was released by C.J.'s in order to help clear the lounge's name. 'They trying to label this or investigate this as a hate crime when I've shown proof that it's not a hate crime. It's just a simple fight,' said Fitzpatrick. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Owner of MS club says man's beating not a hate crime
HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — The owner of Holly Springs night spot C.J.'s Lounge is speaking out about an incident that gained his business unwanted attention. Chevez Fitzpatrick says the reported beating of a man said to have been using racial slurs did not happen inside his business, and was not a hate crime. ORIGINAL STORY: Man beaten, stripped over racial slur at MS club He wants his name cleared, and shared video to prove his claim. 'I'm just here to clear up C.J.'s Lounge because that's all I been hearing on the news…like the whole problem stemmed and everything that goes on stems from C.J.'s Lounge,' he is fuming for the way he says investigators have handled the well-publicized incident outside the lounge Sunday morning. 'They trying to label this or investigate this as a hate crime when I've shown proof that it's not a hate crime. Its just a simple fight,' he said. Fitzpatrick admits the victim was beaten, but outside of his business. Security video provided by C.J's shows the white male dressed in brown shorts, a dark tee shirt and a baseball cap, dancing and moving around the lounge. 'The staff said he was bothering everybody during the crowd, but they wasn't paying him no mind. They wasn't paying him any mind,' he said. Fitzpatrick says things turned ugly when it was time to close at 2 a.m. and the man started using the N-word, and got physical with C.J.'s security. 'I'm not going to go back and forth about black and white. I'm just saying he was belligerent and aggressive and an agitator and got handled by my security,' Fitzpatrick said. Search for missing woman continues in Arkansas He says after the subject was removed, things escalated in the parking lot, with the subject antagonizing a crowd gathered outside. That's where the alleged beating took place. Fitzpatrick says he plans to stay open in spite of a city order to close. This story will be updated. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. White Mississippi Man Spews N-Word in a Lounge Full of Black Folks, Guess What Happens Next...
Don't you just love when karma comes back like a boomerang? In the case of one white man in Mississippi, his karma happened just minutes after he walked into a Black bar. In Holly Springs, Miss., Black residents account for more than 70 percent of the city's population. So when an unidentified white man walked into C.J.'s Lounge on Sunday (May 18), he should've known he'd be severely outnumbered. That fact didn't stop him from having the courage to start calling customers and employees racial slurs. According to statements given to police, the guy walked in the spot already intoxicated. He allegedly began causing a scene and being disrupted. Myles Stone, who works part-time as a DJ and security at C.J.'s Lounge, said Black folks in the lounge tried to remain calm, but things soon took a turn. 'I was hearing him yell out and blare out the N-word repeatedly,' Stone told NewsNation. 'Everyone on planet Earth has to live with their choices, and he walked in there with a choice to be very hateful, very negative.' At this point, tension was boiling inside the bar and eventually spilled over to outside the establishment. Videos taken by witnesses show the man 'speaking erratically and throwing what investigators believe to be gang signs,' according to Fox 13 News. It's unclear what happened next, but according to more videos, a fight broke out between the white man and several club attendees. 'When they were scuffling outside, he was still using the N-word. 'F you N's, f you N's,'' Stone continued. Eventually, the man was beaten, using sticks and poles, police say. He was also robbed and stripped naked while witnesses recorded him and laughed at his motionless body on the ground. Despite eye witnesses pointing to him as the clear aggressor, Lt. Col. Kelly McMillen with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office says the matter is being investigated as a hate crime. 'The victim, unfortunately, his jaw's busted open, his eye's busted. He's just in a terrible state of mind right now,' said McMillen. 'We're trying to adopt some search warrants, get those done, and see if we can retrieve information from those social media accounts.' No arrests have been made yet, according to police. C.J.'s Lounge has since been temporarily closed. There remains a push for the District Attorney to declare the establishment 'a nuisance,' Fox 13 reported. This comes after police say they've been called to the club at least 30 times over the past three months following other violent instances. For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
