Generate Key Takeaways Golden Globe nominee Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and Oscar winner Robert De Niro (Killers of the Flower Moon) have signed on for the leading roles in the upcoming pool hustling drama, Shutout. The project hails from acclaimed filmmaker David O. Russell (American Hustle, The Fighter). This marks De Niro's latest collaboration with Russell after working together in 2015's Jennifer Lawrence-led comedy-drama Joy. What is the new David O. Russell movie about? 'The film follows Jake Kejeune (De Niro), one of the last masters of a vanishing craft — the pool hustler. Having lived and lost by the roll of a ball in smoky backroom halls, Jake encounters Mia (Ortega), a young prodigy whose raw, electrifying talent reignites a fire he thought long extinguished,' reads the official synopsis. 'Sensing a rare opportunity to shape a legend, Jake takes Mia under his wing, honing her instincts and sharpening her natural gift. Together, they plunge into the ruthless world of high-stakes pool, where the line between unimaginable fortune and devastating failure is razor-thin. As Mia's star ascends and her ambition grows, Jake must confront the ultimate question: can he steer her to greatness, or will her hunger for victory eclipse everything he has taught her?' Shutout will be directed by Russell from a screenplay written by Alejandro Adams. The movie will be produced by Russell, Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Mark Bomback. Meanwhile, Black Bear will officially introduce the project to international buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market, with CAA Media Finance handling its U.S. rights. 'We're delighted to be collaborating with the acclaimed director David O. Russell and the legendary Robert De Niro, and especially excited to see Jenna step into the spotlight alongside these two cinematic icons,' Kirschenbaum said in a statement. 'It's a rare and thrilling opportunity to support such a high-caliber team coming together to tell a compelling story — a lineup so precise, it feels like the perfect break.' Natalie Portman Returns to Rom-Coms After 14-Year Absence
Yara Sameh Oscar winner Natalie Portman is making a return to the rom-com genre after in a movie directed by Golden Globe winner Lena Dunham (Girls). CAA Media Finance represents domestic rights while Film Nation Entertainment is handling international and will introduce the buzzy project at next week's EFM. After "Babygirl" and "Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy", age gap romances are in vogue, and Portman's next movie sees her having a dalliance with a younger man. The synopsis reads: 'After spending a decade in a failed relationship, successful couples' therapist Ally (Portman) is turning 40 and is pushed, kicking and screaming, by her best friend back into the hopeless New York dating scene. But Ally finds her life pulled in opposing directions as she falls into a steamy fling with a 20-something Brooklyn hipster just as she begins a promising, more conventional relationship with Alan, a successful 50-something in Manhattan. As a romantic crossroads blossoms into a full-blown identity crisis, Ally juggles to keep these two very different men separate and to make sense of her own conflicting desires before she risks losing them both.' Portman and Sophie Mas will produce through their company, MountainA, along with Dunham and Michael Cohen under their Good Thing Going banner. In 2011, Portman starred opposite Ashton Kutcher in Ivan Reitman's "No Strings Attached", her last romantic comedy feature in 14 years. Portman has previously spoken of her admiration for Dunham as a filmmaker and how she was inspired by her after seeing "Tiny Furniture". The "Black Swan" and "May December" star Portman has Guy Ritchie's "Fountain Of Youth" and Cathy Yan's "The Gallerist" in post. "Girls" creator Dunham is also in post on the Netflix mini-series "Too Much" with Will Sharpe and Megan Stalter.

Matthew McConaughey to Star in Movie "The Rage"
Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey is attached to star in Paul Greengrass' peasant revolt movie "The Rage". Oscar nominee Greengrass is also scripting the project, which FilmNation is selling for the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin. The movie (formerly known as The Hood) is set to take place during the Peasants' Revolt, a major uprising that took part across large parts of England in 1381 in response to socio-economic and political tensions and high taxation. McConaughey will play a farmer who becomes the leader of the revolt (which could indicate that he's playing the legendary Wat Tyler, who led the uprising before being killed by forces loyal to King Richard, though this is unconfirmed). CAA Media Finance is repping domestic with WME Independent. Jason Blum is newly producing through Blumhouse Productions, with Greengrass and Joanna Kaye. In a previous incarnation from a few years ago, the project had Benedict Cumberbatch aboard. The "Dallas Buyers Club" and "Interstellar" star McConaughey is currently in post on Greengrass project "The Lost Bus" for Apple. That movie is also produced by Blum. McConaughey's "The Rivals of Amziah King" will launch at this year's SXSW.
