The new mum explained that she had been experiencing mastitis - where your breast becomes swollen, hot and painful. It is most common in breastfeeding women. Aimee shared: "Thank you all for you kind messages. Little update, I am still in hospital after being admitted on Sunday and developing sepsis. "There's still a lot of unanswered questions and things to get a hold on, so when I can I'll be more open and I'll be looking into working with mastitis charities to spread awareness on it." The presenter continued: "We know how underfunded women's health is, but seriously things have got to change. "If men produced milk, pushing through the pain of a blocked duct, mastitis etc wouldn't be a thing. "If anyone works for/knows charities or companies, let me know as I'd love to touch base once this is all over." Aimee said she was struggling to be apart from her daughter, Charli Carter. She added: "Not being with your baby in the first month of their life is the most unnatural and abnormal thing. "Literally count down the minutes in the morning till she gets here and dread her leaving at night. "But focusing all my energy on getting better for her. "Lastly to my superhuman husband, thank you. Without you, I would have broken." What is mastitis? Mastitis is a condition which causes a woman's breast tissue to become inflamed and painful. It's most common in breastfeeding mums, in the first three months after giving birth. In breastfeeding women, it's often caused by a build-up of milk - because the baby is having problems latching on. Symptoms include: A red, swollen area which feels hot and painful to touch A breast lump or area of hardness A burning pain which is either continuous or only occurs during breastfeeding Nipple discharge - which may be white or contain streaks of blood Flu-like symptoms - including aches, a fever, chills and tiredness. If you have these symptoms, speak to your GP straight away. Sepsis is a serious complication of an infection, which can lead to multiple organ failure and even death if left untreated. In June, Aimee announced that she'd given birth after missing the Summertime Ball. The daytime radio presenter shared the exciting news on Instagram after being noticeably absent from the huge concert. Sharing a photo from last year's bash alongside Sonny Jay and Jimmy Hill, Aimee apologised for the absence but noted she had a great excuse why she couldn't make it. "Wishing my @capitalofficial & all of you an amazing Summertime ball day 🧡," she wrote. "Sad to miss it but as you might of guessed by my silence on here, our new little addition has arrived so we have very much been in our newborn love bubble." "Swapping backstage at Wembley for watching on YouTube with milk in one hand and a nappy in the other this year 👶🏼," she joked, before promising an "update on the baby soon". Aimee announced that she was expecting her first baby back in February, sharing a black and white video of her holding a cake that said "coming soon". In front of the cake was a pair of baby booties and a pregnancy scan. This is Aimee's first baby with her husband, who remains out of the spotlight. She has been part of the team on Capital FM for the past 10 years, currently hosting alongside Sonny Jay. She went on maternity leave just three weeks ago, joking: "BRB off to go birth another listener 👶🏼🍼" "Another life chapter done, Be back on air soon x" she added on a post, which praised her co-workers and family for their support during her pregnancy.
