James Gunn Reveals He'd Like to See PEACEMAKER Go Head-to-Head With BATMAN in His DCU — GeekTyrant
James Gunn has planned out a handful of exciting movies and TV series to kick off his DC Universe, but he still has a ton of characters and team-ups to play with as he moves into his future phases. We will most likely have to wait until Comic-Con to hear more than what we currently know about the DC slate, but in the meantime, Gunn mentioned one interesting head-to-head he would like to see go down. During an appearance this past weekend at CCXP 2025 in Mexico City, CBM reports that Gunn and Peacemaker star John Cena were asked who they'd like to see Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker, battle in the DCU. While Cena did not provide an answer, Gunn enthusiastically responded he wants to see Peacemaker fight the Dark Knight himself, Batman. It's easy to think Bruce Wayne would beat Christopher Smith no problem (James Gunn himself supports the idea). However, it's worth noting that, while the Caped Crusader is a trained killer, Peacemaker is one as well. He may be goofy, but he knows very well how to hurt someone when he needs to, so he'd likely give Batman a good challenge. Will this happen? It's difficult to say, especially with The Brave and the Bold having no release date as of yet. However, it's an exciting possibility that Gunn could realistically be planning to make a reality. Actress Vanessa Kirby reveals pregnancy at Fantastic Four event

And she revealed her pregnancy while attending pop culture festival CCXP 2025 in Mexico City on May 31. The 37-year-old showed off her baby bump while walking the red carpet at a panel event for First Steps, in which she plays Invisible Woman/Sue Storm. The character's pregnancy was revealed in the trailer for the film. Sue Storm is the wife of Mister Fantastic/Reed Richards, played by Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal. The Fantastic Four: First Steps also stars English actor Joseph Quinn as Human Torch/Johnny Storm – the younger brother of Sue Storm – and American actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing/Ben Grimm. The movie opens in Singapore cinemas on July 24. Kirby was also seen cradling her baby bump in a short promotional video with her three co-stars in a post on Marvel's Instagram page on June 1. The actress is known for playing Britain's Princess Margaret in the Netflix series The Crown (2016 to 2023), and White Widow in the films Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023). Kirby is currently dating retired professional lacrosse player Paul Rabil, 39, who is the president of the United States' Premier Lacrosse League. They were romantically linked in October 2022 when British tabloid Daily Mail published photos of them stepping out together in New York. The couple went public with their relationship in November 2023. Rabil posted a sweet tribute to her and shared a series of photos of them together on Instagram. American celebrity gossip website Page Six reported in December 2024 that the two were engaged after two years of dating. Kirby previously dated English actor Callum Turner, her co-star in the film Queen And Country (2014). Meanwhile, Rabil was previously married to former lacrosse player Kelly Berger between 2014 and 2017 and briefly dated Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez in 2021. Kirby wore a shimmering blue dress for a panel event on the upcoming movie 'Fantastic Four: First Steps,' in which she plays Sue Storm, cradling her bump as she took part in a photocall at the CCXP Mexico 2025 entertainment convention. The British actress, 37, who also played Princess Margaret in Netflix series 'The Crown' and Josephine Bonaparte in 2023 movie 'Napoleon,' is believed to be dating former professional lacrosse player Paul Rabil. Neither of the pair have publicly commented on the pregnancy. CNN has contacted Kirby's representatives for comment. In November 2023, Rabil posted a series of photos of the couple on Instagram, including a shot of Kirby sitting on his shoulders. 'From the very minute we first met in des moines, around the world and back, life is far better, more purposeful and more beautiful with you,' he wrote in the caption. Kirby plays one of the four main characters in Marvel's latest 'Fantastic Four' title, alongside Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Directed by Matt Shakman, the movie tells the story of how the group defend Earth from a space god named Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson, and the Silver Surfer, portrayed by Julia Garner. That's the news out of CCXP 2025 in Mexico City where DC Studios co-head Gunn and Peacemaker himself, John Cena, answered questions about the upcoming season of "Peacemaker" and debuted a behind-the-scenes sizzle reel. According to ComicBookMovie, when asked who in the DCU they would want to see fight Peacemaker, Gunn answered that he would love to see Batman and Cena's antihero clash. It's tough to say in part because we know so little about what is planned for the DCU's Batman. The new version of the character is set to debut in "The Brave and the Bold" which is still in development with no word on who might be the new Bruce Wayne. You can watch the sizzle reel below. The sizzle reel opens with a dark confrontation between Peacemaker and Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), the new head of A.R.G.U.S. and the father of Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) who Peacemaker killed in 2021's "The Suicide Squad". "Peacemaker" fans curious about the new dance intro for Season 2 should watch closely, because a number of shots show the stars performing parts of the new dance. Story-wise there are some interesting things to note. For one, the White Dragon is back in spite of the character's death in "Peacemaker" Season 1. It's possible it could be someone other than Auggie Smith in the suit. Since there have been hints that part of the new season will unfold in an alternate reality, the White Dragon we're seeing could be from a reality in which his character survived. There also seem to be some new characters we haven't heard about before. At about the 35 second mark a dark clad figure flies through the air and crashes into a helicopter. At the 51 second mark, there's a menacing looking alien character sitting in a foldout chair. "Peacemaker" Season 2 premieres on HBO Max on August 21.
