CF-18 Hornet grounded due to ‘mechanical issue'

One of the main acts of the Barrie Airshow will not be taking to the skies on Sunday.
The Barrie Police Service announced via social media that the CF-18 Hornet will not perform on Sunday due to an unexpected mechanical issue.
The CF-18 was heard across the city on Sunday as it roared across the sky, pulling upwards of five g's and nearing the sound barrier at Mach 0.95 according to airshow officials.
Airshow officials confirmed to CTV News that all other aircraft will perform on Sunday as scheduled.
The Muskoka Extreme water ski show is scheduled to begin at noon, which will be followed by the 1 p.m. start of the Airshow.
