Soldier shoots self at PAC camp
Varanasi: A soldier on duty shot himself at the PAC camp in Amwar in Sonbhadra district early on Friday morning. Hearing the gunshot, soldiers rushed to the scene and took him to CHC Duddhi, where doctors declared him dead. Constable Sandeep Singh, 26, a resident of Alampur Post in the Gadwar police station area of Ballia district, was stationed with the 39th Battalion G Company in Mirzapur. After completing VVIP duty in Varanasi on August 5, he reported to the Amwar PAC camp. Around 4am on Friday, he allegedly shot himself in the neck with his service rifle (SLR). The bullet pierced through his neck and head, leaving him in a critical condition on the spot. CO Rajesh Kumar Rai, PAC Naxal In-charge Dev Narayan Yadav, and Deputy Commandant Vijay Anand arrived at the scene. His family has been informed. Hearing the gunshot, fellow soldiers rushed to the scene and took him to CHC Duddhi, where doctors declared him dead.
