Bears' Caleb Williams weapon avoids major injury after practice scare
The post Bears' Caleb Williams weapon avoids major injury after practice scare appeared first on ClutchPoints. There is a huge spotlight on the Chicago Bears this season coming into the second season of the Caleb Williams era and the first season with Ben Johnson as head coach, and the pads are officially on as training camp heats up. The Bears suffered a scare on Tuesday when starting tight end Cole Kmet went down with an apparent injury and left the field with a trainer. However, Chicago shortly got good news as it appears that Kmet avoided a serious injury, according to Adam Hoge of CHGO. 'Good news on the injury front as it sounds like Cole Kmet avoided a serious injury after leaving practice today with a trainer,' Hoge reported on X, formerly Twitter. Kmet is a big part of this Bears offense, so Chicago will be relieved that he doesn't appear to be missing significant time. Johnson loved to use his tight ends during his time with the Detroit Lions, which saw Sam LaPorta break out in the last two years. Kmet can also be a security blanket for Williams as he looks to find some footing in his first season in Johnson's system, so it is paramount that he is healthy and able to play. Kmet is entering his sixth season in the NFL, all with the Bears, and he has been productive overall despite some highs and lows. For his five-year career, the Notre Dame product has over 2,500 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns, so he has proven that he can be a productive player in the league. Kmet joins a talented Chicago pass-catching group that includes wide receivers DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, who is looking for a better second season than he had as a rookie. With one of the best play callers in the NFL in Johnson pulling the strings and a talented quarterback like Williams working behind a revamped offensive line, Chicago has one of the top candidates for a breakout offense in 2025. Bears TE Cole Kmet back at practice after injury scare
The Chicago Bears got good news on the injury front as tight end Cole Kmet returned to practice on Thursday at Halas Hall, according to various media members. According to multiple media members, Kmet was spotted leaving the practice field with head trainer Andre Tucker following a 7-on-7 period. CHGO's Mark Carman noted that Kmet was "visibly upset leaving the field." He didn't return to practice. Kmet's return to the practice field is a sigh of relief, but also not too big of a surprise considering he's been remarkably durable. He's never missed a game in his five-year NFL career, and the hope is that trend continues. Follow Bears Wire on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram

Charles Tillman recalls greatest memory with Virginia McCaskey
The Chicago Bears franchise suffered a heartbreaking loss on Thursday, as the team announced that owner and matriarch Virginia McCaskey passed away at 102. Having been the principal owner since her father George S. Halas passed away in 1983, McCaskey has been part of the only Super Bowl championship in team history, with the legendary 1985 Bears, led by Walter Payton and their dominant defense. The last time the Bears made it to a Super Bowl was 2006, where they would eventually lose to the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI when cornerback Charles Tillman was a member of their highly-regarded defense. As the news of McCaskey's passing was becoming public knowledge, Tillman, in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX was a guest with CHGO on Radio Row and told the story of his favorite memory with the Bears owner. Throughout her time of ownership, the Bears always gave off the appearance of a family first organization, and for Tillman, when his family was going through hardship off the field, McCaskey's gesture meant the most to him. "Probably the greatest memory I will have of this woman [McCaskey] is when my daughter was dealing with her heart issues back in 2008, Mrs. McCaskey, very old-school, very traditional, wrote a letter," Tillman said. "She didn't text, she just was old-school, wrote this letter out and expressed prayers for my family, gratitude for my play and what I meant to the organization. I'll always remember her for that, it was one of the kindest things we received during that time. Especially from an owner, it was first class." .@peanuttillman shares his favorite memory of Virginia McCaskey🧡 — CHGO Bears (@CHGO_Bears) February 6, 2025 Having played for the Bears for 12 seasons, Tillman had quite the experience with McCaskey. Although the team did not have the Super Bowl championship success she would've liked, she was part of building one of the most historic franchises in NFL history, in a city that loves it football team week in and week out. For all that Virginia McCaskey was within the Bears organization, being a great person over everything else is what stood out the most to one of her premier former players.
