Stormy weather leads to outdoor stage suspensions, delays at CMA Fest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Severe weather is rolling through Middle Tennessee Friday, including Nashville, where thousands of people have gathered for CMA Fest. A Tornado Watch is currently in effect for parts of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 6. While Davidson County is not covered by the watch, the area is still experiencing rainy weather. Severe storms possible through the weekend The Country Music Association announced on social media platform X at 3:08 p.m. that all outdoor daytime stages and nighttime performances at the Hard Rock Stage are suspended for the rest of the day. Attendees were urged to take shelter immediately or head to Fan Fair X inside Music City Center to enjoy more music. In addition, organizers said the opening of the gates at Nissan Stadium and Ascend Amphitheater will be delayed at least 90 minutes due to incoming storms. WATCH: Severe weather plan for CMA Fest 2025 The weather team for CMA Fest tracks any lightning activity within an 8-mile radius of the event, so if a strike happens within that zone, the festivities pause for 30 minutes, according to officials. Metro police discuss CMA Fest safety

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville is one day away from the 52nd annual CMA Fest, which is expected to bring close to a million people to Music City. As a result, safety remains a top priority. The Metro Nashville Police Department hosted a press conference outside of Nissan Stadium on Wednesday, June 4 to discuss the hundreds of officers and other first responders that will work this weekend. Local authorities are also working with federal law enforcement partners to maintain a safe environment. Downtown Nashville businesses gear up for 2025 CMA Fest 'Right now, we don't have any credible threats to the event. We've been in contact with Homeland Security and FBI,' Metro Police Chief John Drake said. With the next three days bringing a risk of severe thunderstorms in parts of Middle Tennessee, there is also a plan in place to help people find shelter at CMA Fest if there's any severe weather. The Compton Cowboy himself, in partnership with Audio Chateau Records and Audio Up Entertainment, is taking over the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) to host BEEN COUNTRY: Black Roots and Rhythm , a groundbreaking celebration of Black excellence in country music. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Road closures are scheduled to begin this week in downtown Nashville as the city prepares for the world's longest-running Country music festival to return. CMA Fest will take place from June 5-8. However, road closures are set to begin as early as Thursday, May 29, days before the four-day festival is set to begin. According to festival organizers, here are road closures for the CMA Fest 2025: 1st Avenue from Demonbreun to Broadway Northbound lane of 1st Avenue from Broadway to Church Street Alley behind Acme Feed/13 Aly from 1st Avenue to 2nd Avenue Alley behind Acme and Pesca Lot/12 Aly from Pedestrian Bridge to 13 Aly Beginning at 7 a.m., all of these roads will close and are not expected to open until 7 p.m. Monday, June 9. Who's performing at CMA Fest? See the full 2025 lineup Meanwhile, 1st Ave. from Molloy Street to Demonbreun is expected to reopen at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4. The westbound lane of Demonbreun from 4th Avenue to Rep. John Lewis Way will close at 9 a.m. and reopen by 7 p.m. One lane of Demonbreun from 4th Avenue to Rep. Spotify announced on social media that Spotify House will return to Nashville's Ole Red during this year's festival, with 37 performers announced and the promise of "more surprise guests." Performers on Thursday, June 5, include Zimmerman, Urban, Noah Cyrus, Parker McCollum, Riley Green and the Zac Brown Band. Friday performers are set to include the Brothers Osborne, Dasha, Dylan Scott, Little Big Town and Cameron Witcomb.
