Maharashtra CM relief fund committee expanded to 14 members
Mumbai: The CM's Relief Fund, which provides financial aid in times of natural disasters and accidents, will now be overseen by a 14-member committee. The committee has been expanded to include two new members: a medical/social sector expert and the head of the CM Relief Fund as member-general secretary. The committee is headed by the CM, and the other members include both the Dy CMs, as well as representatives from the Relief and Rehabilitation, Revenue, Law and Judiciary departments, and senior bureaucrats. From January until June 30, 14,651 patients received medical assistance worth Rs 129 crore under the CM Relief Fund, said an official. CMRF cheques worth Rs 33.14L distributed
Guntur: Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi stated that the Chief Minister's Relief Fund is a fine example of the welfare governance being implemented by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for the people of the State. She distributed cheques worth Rs 33.14 lakh sanctioned from the CM Relief Fund to 29 beneficiaries at the TDP office in Guntur West Assembly Constituency. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Madhavi said the Chief Minister's Relief Fund is not just financial assistance, it is a source of hope for the poor. She recalled that in just one year, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had extended financial aid of over Rs 400 crore through this fund, bringing light into the lives of thousands of poor families. She added that the CM Relief Fund extends help to those struggling with medical expenses, victims of natural disasters, and the underprivileged. She said in Guntur West constituency alone, over Rs 3 crore worth of CM Relief Fund cheques have been sanctioned so far, and she assured that she is always ready to help the people of her constituency.

He emphasized that Indiramma houses must be constructed according to government-approved designs and regulations. He further stated that free bus services are being provided for all women in the state, highlighting the government's commitment to empowering women. The government is also offering interest-free loans to women's self-help groups, with an appeal to repay the loans promptly. Minister Vivek emphasized that financially independent women can support their families more effectively. He also mentioned that many underprivileged families are benefiting from the CM Relief Fund. Lucknow: Body of man who fell into open drain during rain found; CM orders action
The body of a 32-year-old painter, who allegedly fell into an open drain in Lucknow's Thakurganj area on Saturday during heavy rainfall, was recovered on Sunday following an extensive search. His body was recovered from the drain, a short distance from the spot where he had allegedly fallen. 'The body is being sent for postmortem. No case has been registered so far,' said Assistant Superintendent of Police, Lucknow, Raj Kumar Singh. According to police, Suresh was on his way to work when he allegedly slipped into an open drain after stepping on a broken slab. 'It is suspected that due to heavy rainfall and water overflowing on the road, he could not see the open drain,' a police officer said. Upon receiving information, teams from multiple agencies – police, Nagar Nigam, and the State Disaster Response Force — reached the spot and launched a search operation. 'When Suresh could not be located initially, it was feared he had been swept away. Residents protested, accusing the Nagar Nigam of gross negligence. They claimed that repeated complaints about the broken slab had been ignored,' an official said. Protesters also blocked the road, and the matter was resolved after officials assured them that swift action against those responsible. Lodhi is survived by his wife and three minor children. Maintaining that a thorough probe will be conducted into the role of the officials and agencies concerned, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered suspension of a junior engineer, notice to assistant engineer, and Rs 9 lakh (Rs 5 lakh from CM Relief Fund and Rs 4 lakh from Disaster Relief Fund) as aid to the victim's family. He said that no negligence towards public safety will be tolerated and directed the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department to ensure full accountability in the incident. He also ordered an FIR against the construction agency so that those guilty of negligence are punished. It is not just an accident, but a serious administrative failure, the CM added.

Lucknow shocker: Man swept into open drain; body found after 27 hours, Rs 5L aid for family
LUCKNOW: A day after 32-year-old Suresh Lodhi was swept away in an overflowing drain in Thakurganj, his body was recovered near the Cattle Colony on Sunday morning. Police have sent the body for post-mortem. The discovery came after around 27 hours of intense search operations led by SDRF, police, and Suez India, which began shortly after the tragic incident on Saturday around 7am. Suresh, a paan shop owner and father of three, had slipped into the open drain after stepping on a broken slab while on his way to work amid heavy rainfall. The incident had sparked public outrage as locals alleged gross negligence by civic authorities. Residents blocked roads and protested delayed response by emergency services. According to Suresh's wife, the family had repeatedly complained about the broken slab but received no action. Taking cognizance, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to extend financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the bereaved family from the CM Relief Fund. Senior leaders including Dinesh Sharma, MLA Neeraj Bora, and Lucknow DM Vishak G are scheduled to visit the family.
