Man posing as rideshare driver sought in 2 sexual assaults on Near North Side
Chicago police issued an alert to rideshare passengers about two sexual assaults by a man they said posed as a rideshare driver. Both incidents happened on the Gold Coast and the Near North Side. The first happened around 5 a.m. on March 30 in the 1100 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, and the second happened around 2:30 a.m. on July 19 in the 1500 block of North Wells Street. Police said the fake rideshare driver picked up female victims in a midsize black SUV, and later sexually assaulted them. The vehicle was not the one ordered by the victims via a ride-sharing app. Police did not give a detailed description of the suspect. Rideshare passengers are advised to verify that the picture and license plate from the rideshare app match the vehicle and driver, share their rideshare information and/or location with family or friends, and stay in communication with them while in a rideshare. Armed robbers target multiple people in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood
Police issued a community alert Sunday about a string of armed robberies in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. In each incident, one to three robbers have approached the victims and demanded their property at gunpoint, police said. The robbers take the victims' property and flee either on foot or in a car that may be a dark-colored four-door sedan. Many of the robberies happened in broad daylight. The robberies happened at the following specific times and locations: The robbers are described as three teenage boys or young men, ages 14 to 20, armed with handguns. Armed group used dating app to lure, rob three victims on South Side, police warn
Chicago police are warning about a string of armed robberies on the city's South Side connected to an online dating app. The robberies in the 4800 block of South Drexel Boulevard in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood. Police said the victims arranged to meet with someone they met on the app. When the victim arrived, he met with another man who led him into a nearby apartment building. Once inside, additional men surrounded the victim, displayed a weapon, took the victim's belongings, and used the victim's cell phone to transfer money from the victim's bank account. During one of the robberies, the victim was hurt, but police did not say how. The robberies happened on the following dates and times: No clear description of the suspects was available. Police searching for man wanted in sexual abuse on Chicago's North Side
Chicago police are searching for a man who they said sexually abused two women after trespassing in Roscoe Village early Sunday morning. Around 1:20 a.m., Chicago police said the man entered a building in the 3400 block of North Damen Avenue and sexually abused two women. Police said the man, who was wearing green shorts and a black hooded sweatshirt, left the scene. Chicago police warn of multiple burglaries involving work vans on Northwest Side
Chicago police issued an alert after multiple vans were burglarized overnight on the city's Northwest Side. Police said the burglaries happened in the North Park and Irving Park neighborhoods. In each incident, three suspects driving a silver four-door sedan approached the parked work vans, used a saw to cut the lock, took power tools from inside, and left the scene. A witness told police that each of the suspects was armed with a handgun.
