DU announces start of second phase of UG admission process

The University of Delhi (DU) on Saturday announced the commencement of its second phase of undergraduate admission process under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) 2025. Beginning July 8, students who have cleared the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) will be able to fill in their programme and college preferences on the university's admissions portal. In a detailed schedule released by the Registrar's office (see box), the university clarified that the preference-filling window will remain open till 11.59 pm on July 14. Preferences will be auto-locked if not submitted by the deadline. Importantly, both Phase I (registration) and Phase II (preference-filling) of CSAS will remain open simultaneously until July 14. This means candidates who haven't registered earlier still have the opportunity to enter the admission cycle. 'Due care must be exercised while ordering the preferences,' the advisory stated. The university has also introduced a correction window, available from July 6 to 11 for those who have already registered under Phase I and wish to make final edits to their forms. However, this is a one-time facility – candidates can only open the form once, make all desired changes in a single sitting, and must submit immediately. 'The form once submitted will not re-open,' the university cautioned. In a move aimed at student convenience, DU has introduced an auto-accept feature. This ensures that if a student fails to manually accept a seat within the stipulated time, the system will automatically accept it on their behalf, reducing the chances of losing an allotted seat due to technical delays or oversight. This year, 71,624 undergraduate seats are on offer across 79 programmes in 69 DU colleges. To widen access and enhance flexibility, DU has also modified subject combination rules. Now, candidates can qualify either with one language and three subjects or with two languages and two subjects – whichever yields the best CUET score will be considered. Additionally, the 30% minimum requirement in the CUET language paper for admission to BSc (Honours) programmes has been removed.
