Vadodara corporator lodges complaint against Common Service Centre for ‘using her fake stamps, signatures'
In wake of the recent crackdown against alleged illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Gujarat, Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) corporator from Ward 12, Twinkle Trivedi, on Saturday lodged a complaint with the Vadodara Taluka police station after learning that a private Common Service Centre (CSC) had allegedly been using her fake stamps and signatures to process government services for citizens. The issue came to light on Saturday when the BJP leader's husband allegedly randomly visited a private CSC Centre to check the work and discovered unauthorised forms on the work table of the CSC operator along with a rubber stamp of the corporator. Trivedi told The Indian Express, 'My husband had stepped out in the Bhayli area on Saturday and when he saw work in progress at a private CSC Centre in the area, he just decided to check… To his surprise, he came across forms bearing my rubber stamp as well as a forged signature that does not even match mine, perhaps being used for Aadhaar address updation… He called me from the spot and shared the photos of the form, which is when I confirmed that it was a fake form. We decided to approach the police.' Immediately, Trivedi arrived at the Vadodara Taluka police station on Saturday evening to lodge a complaint. She said, 'This is a serious issue, in wake of the crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the state. It is also an eye-opener as most of us, corporators, will remain unaware if private centres like these are forging stamps and signatures… I will take up the issue with the authorities seeking that the stamp and signature of the corporators be allowed only in person… I have also urged the 75 other corporators of the VMC to come forward and check the dealings of private CSC centres in their own areas.' Trivedi added that the CSC centre in question had been running for over six months and offered services for various government schemes, including Aadhaar card update. Vadodara Superintendent of Police Rohan Anand confirmed to this newspaper that an FIR has been lodged under Sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for forgery. Anand said, 'Based on the complaint of the Corporator, an FIR has been lodged at the Vadodara Taluka police station for forgery of documents related to an elected representative. One person from the CSC centre has been taken into custody for questioning.'

Forged letter in councillor's name found at Aadhaar Centre in Bhayli
Vadodara: In an alarming incident of document forgery, a fake letter bearing the name and forged signature of a sitting councillor was discovered at a Common Service Centre (CSC) in the Bhayli area. The letter was reportedly used to facilitate a change of address on an Aadhaar card. The forged document, purportedly issued by Ward 12 councillor Twinkle Trivedi, came to light when her husband visited the CSC and noticed a letter with her name, stamp, and an unfamiliar signature lying at the desk. Suspicious, he alerted Trivedi, who confirmed the letter was fabricated and subsequently filed a complaint at the Vadodara Taluka police station. "The operator of the CSC claimed the letter was handed to him by a youth from Padra, who had listed a Bharuch address. However, he has not provided further details and is claiming innocence. The police have taken up the matter and will investigate thoroughly," Trivedi said. This incident follows two earlier cases in Vadodara where individuals submitted fake birth certificates — one to obtain an Aadhaar card and another to make changes to an existing Aadhaar. In both instances, offences were registered by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) against the accused. The latest forgery has raised concerns over the ease with which sensitive identity documents are being manipulated and submitted at Aadhaar enrolment and update centers.

CSC chief Barua-Yap denies resigning from post
Civil Service Commission (CSC) chairperson Marilyn Barua-Yap denied Friday that she has resigned from her post following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s call for Cabinet members to tender their courtesy resignations. 'I have not resigned as chairperson of the Civil Service Commission. The recent directive of the President requesting the resignation of his Cabinet Secretaries does not apply to me, as I am not a member of the Cabinet nor am I under the executive branch's direct control,' Yap said in a statement. 'The Civil Service Commission is an independent constitutional body. I remain committed to fulfilling my constitutional duty and serving the Filipino people with integrity and impartiality,' Yap added. Aside from CSC, other constitutional offices whose chiefs have a seven-year fixed term include the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Commission on Human Rights, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Commission on Audit and the Professional Regulation Commission. As heads of constitutional offices, they can resign or be removed from their post via impeachment proceedings, which emanates from the House of Representatives. 'I respectfully request media persons and groups to contact us directly to verify reports involving us and the Commission,' Barua-Yap added. Earlier, Duterte Youth party-list chairman Ronald Cardema called on Comelec chief George Garcia to quit his post and follow Barua-Yap's action of resigning from her post. Cardema claimed that Garcia is politicizing the Comelec by deliberately suspending the proclamation of Duterte Youth party-list who won three seats in the 2025 midterm polls. Garcia has denied Cardema's allegations. — Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
