Punjab CM dedicates Rs 47 crore firefighting fleet to border dists

PUNJAB CHIEF Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday unveiled a fleet of modern fire and rescue apparatus worth Rs 47 crore, aimed at boosting emergency response in sensitive border districts. Addressing the gathering, Mann emphasised the state government's preparedness and commitment to safeguarding border communities. 'To cater the needs of the border region, fire apparatus, including small and medium fire tenders and other essential machinery worth Rs 47 crore has been dedicated to the people of the state,' he said. The newly inducted equipment includes Disaster Deployment Kits (DD Kits), Hydraulic Combi Tool Collapse Structure and Rescue Kits (CSSR Kits), Gas Detectors, Fire Entry Suits, Battery Backup Lighting Towers, Multipurpose Fire Tenders, and Quick Response Vehicles (Small). The CM said, 'The apparatus will be deployed in strategically sensitive areas such as Pathankot, Rajasansi, Ferozepur, and other vulnerable zones. These will help tackle any sort of awkward situation arising at the border due to mounting tension between both countries.' Underscoring the government's commitment, he said, 'The state government is duty-bound to ensure all requirements for the safety and security of border residents are fulfilled.' The chief minister said the advanced equipment would play a crucial role in relief and rescue operations during emergencies. 'The state government is fully prepared to tackle any sort of challenge in the prevailing harsh times. We are committed to supporting our Armed Forces in this hour of crisis, and no stone is being left unturned for this cause.'

Chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday dedicated fire apparatus worth ₹47 crore to strengthen emergency response in border areas of the state amid ongoing escalation of tensions at the border. However, by evening, India and Pakistan have reached a ceasefire deal following US mediation. CM said that in order to cater to the needs of the border region fire apparatus, including small and medium fire tenders and other essential machinery worth ₹47 crore has been dedicated to the people of the state. Mann said that this includes a disaster deployment kit (DD Kit), hydraulic combi tool collapse structure and rescue kit (CSSR kit), gas detectors, fire entry suits, battery backup lighting tower, multipurpose fire tender, quick response vehicle (small) and others. This equipment will be deployed in sensitive regions such as Pathankot, Rajasansi, Ferozepur, and other vulnerable locations. 'These will help tackle any awkward situation arising at the border due to mounting tension between both countries, he added. Stay away from drone/missile debris: Mann Singh Mann also urged the people to refrain from rushing to the spot of any missile or drone attack and touching the unidentified debris or remains until it has been defused by the army authorities. The CM asked the people to immediately inform the police if they saw any missile or drone parts. Mann said that the state government is already extending all possible help to the armed forces to safeguard the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country. He said that the state government has already given the nod to purchase anti-drone systems to check the smuggling of weapons and drugs.

Mr. Abdul Nazeer conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and directed the Visakhapatnam district officials to provide better medical aid to the injured. NDRF operation Meanwhile, the Regional Response Centre (RRC) of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has conducted Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) at the spot where the wall has collapsed in Simhachalam temple, said NDRF 10th Battalion Commandant V.V.N. Prasanna Kumar. 'The RRC headed by Inspector Eshwara Rao has taken up CSSR operation to search for the injured, if any, trapped under the debris,' Mr. Prasanna Kumar told The Hindu. 'Instructions have been give to the NDRF personnel to coordinate with the district administration, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Fire Services Department officers in taking up the search and rescue operations,' the Commandant added.

U'khand SDRF bags second position in national combat, search & rescue competition

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand police's State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) secured the second place in the inaugural national combat search and rescue (CSSR) competition, organised by the National Disaster Response Force ( ). The top eight teams from each zone advanced to the final round, which took place from April 21 to 23 at the 8th Battalion of the NDRF in Ghaziabad. The event was held in the presence of NDRF director general Piyush Anand. Himachal Pradesh SDRF won the first position, while Andhra Pradesh SDRF finished third. SDRF commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi said the team was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 75,000 by the NDRF director general. "The CSSR event aimed to develop disaster-management capabilities, foster inter-state collaboration, and strengthen skills for rapid, effective emergency response," Yaduvanshi added.

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Response Force (APSDRF) secured the third place at the national-level Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) competitions, held at Ghaziabad. In all, eight teams participated in the final CSSR competitions and the APSDRF won the third prize, said IGP B. Rajakumari. Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta appreciated the APSDRF team on its achievement, said the APSDRF officials in a release on Thursday.
