Love Island winners Toni Laites and Cach Mercer reveal their surprising plans for £50,000 cash prize - and it's NOT what you'd expect

The couple were crowned the winners of the twelfth series of Love Island on Monday evening. And now, Toni Laites and Cacherel 'Cach' Mercer, both 24, have revealed what they plan to spend their £50,000 cash prize on - and it's far from what you would expect. When asked how she plans to spend the money, Toni, a Las Vegas cabana waitress, candidly admitted: 'I need to pay off my student loans. I want to invest it. I don't want to go on some crazy shopping spree.' While Cach, a dancer from London, agreed with her, adding: ' Cost of living crisis, I'll save it!' Toni made history as the first American contestant to enter the UK Love Island villa, and she and Cach seem set on making their relationship work despite the transatlantic distance. The couple had a rocky beginning after meeting during Casa Amor, as it wasn't long until the pair found themselves in a major love triangle with Harrison. Yet once Harrison decided to leave the villa with Lauren, Toni set her sights on Cach, and the pair went from strength to strength. Reflecting on her journey, Toni said: 'I feel like I'm representing a whole nation! I didn't expect to make it past week one. 'Hopefully now we will just find time to enjoy one another's company and not let everything else take over.' Cach added: 'It feels amazing to win. I was 100 per cent authentically myself, and luckily, the public liked it, so I'm buzzing. 'I appreciate every moment on the show, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I wouldn't have done it any other way.' Toni will also be remembered as part of the series' fan-favourite 'Big Three' – a name coined by viewers to describe her close friendship with runners-up Shakira Khan and Yasmin Pettet, who placed second and third, respectively. She said: 'Friends I will have for life. That was a big takeaway. The girls were my rock for the eight weeks.' But it looks like Toni and Cach may be spending even more time together in front of the camera, as ITV are reportedly planning to offer the couple a spin-off show chronicling their long-distance relationship, according to The Sun. A source told the publication: 'Even without the win, Cach and Toni's story should make great TV just due to their exciting lives. 'It will also be a chance to include Shakira and Yasmin when they visit Toni and catch up on the outside.' Daily Mail has contacted ITV for comment. The couple's interview follows ITV's release of the voting breakdown for the final, confirming it was the closest result in the show's history. In total, Toni and Cach received 33.5% of the vote, with Shakira Khan and Harry Cooksley taking 26.2% - showing the result was a close call. Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes came third with 22% and Angel Swift and Ty Isherwood placed fourth with 18.3%. Toni and Cach won despite the bookies' odds revealing it was Harry and Shakira in the running to win, just hours ahead of the live final. And fans seemed delighted with the decision as they took to Twitter to wish the couple congratulations. They penned: 'Justice served well done Toni & Cach .. what a gentleman man he is'; 'Congratulations Toni and cach. First American and she won. Iconic moves'; 'a bombshell + a casa boy winning love island - iconic!'; 'Love island didn't disappoint with Cach & Toni winning';

Love Island voting percentages REVEALED after Toni Laites and Cach Mercer scoop £50,000 cash prize - and it's the closest final in show's history

Toni Laites and Cacherel 'Cach' Mercer won the twelfth series of Love Island on Monday evening, making show history in the process. ITV has now shared the voting breakdown for the four couples that made it to the final, with the figures confirming it was the narrowest win since the show launched in 2015. In total, Toni and Cach received 33.5% of the vote, with Shakira Khan and Harry Cooksley taking 26.2% - showing the result was a close call. Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes came third with 22% and Angel Swift and Ty Isherwood placed fourth with 18.3%. With just 15% between fourth and first place, it's the closest final vote in history. The results of the votes come after host Maya Jama, 30, announced that the couple had received the highest percentage of the public vote and would take home the £50,000 cash prize. And ITV has now shared the voting breakdown for the four couples that made it to the final (pictured L-R Angel, Ty, Shakira, Harry, Toni, Cach, Yasmin, and Jamie) Toni has made history as the first American contestant to enter the UK Love Island villa, and she and Cach seem set on making their relationship work despite the transatlantic distance. Others teased how funny it was that Harrison was there to watch Toni win the 50k after previously leaving her for Lauren. They penned: 'Harrison had to watch Toni win 50k' 'Forget there were there, the win makes it even better'. Shakira and Harry have had a rollercoaster journey in the villa, with Harry's roaming eye causing plenty of upset. While the pair were originally coupled up, it wasn't long before his head was turned and he snuck off to the Hideaway with Helena. After changing his mind once again, he returned to Helena after the pair claimed to have an 'undeniable connection'. However, after Harry discovered Shakira's feelings for her hadn't gone away, Harry recoupled with the 22-year-old, claiming his relationship with Helena was more of a friendship. Angel was the final bombshell in this year's series, only entering the villa two weeks ago, where she immediately hit it off with Casa Amor boy Ty. The pair went from strength to strength despite Blu's attempt to turn her head earlier this week.

Love Island's Cach is hailed as the saviour of the show as the 'respectful' star is branded the 'new Ovie Soko' after 'emotionally mature' contestant handled brutal recoupling like a champ

In a series packed with more backstabbing and betrayal than ever before, there remains one Islander who has acted with impeccable grace since the moment he entered the villa. While he has been stuck in a messy love triangle with his co-stars Toni Laites, 24, and Harrison Solomon, Cacherel Mercer has proved himself a true gentlemen and has won the hearts of Love Island fans. Cacherel, 24, known as Cach to his fellow Islanders, joined the show during the Casa Amor twist where he sparked a connection with Toni and she picked him to recouple with instead of her previous partner Harrison, 22. When the boys arrived back in the villa, they discovered that Harrison had also decided to recouple after growing close to newcomer Lauren Wood, 26, in Casa - with Toni and her ex exchanging verbal blows over the fire pit. It initially seemed that Toni and Harrison would focus on their new romances, however after a couple of days after their reunion it became clear that old feelings began to seep back in between the pair. Cach has been coupled with Toni since they met during Casa Amor An Ekin-Su inspired terrace chat saw them crawl along the floor to have a secret conversation about where they stood with each other on Sunday night. During their chat, Toni demanded 'get rid of her' after Harrison confessed he wanted to kiss her behind Lauren's back. It was all while Lauren remained unaware of their 'unfinished business' as she sat metres away crying while confiding in her fellow islanders. After Toni broke the news to Cach that she was still invested in her connection with Harrison, the model was praised after insisting he would give Toni the space to explore that relationship again. Toni and Harrison continued to have conversations outside of their couples, however it seemed that her love interest had made his decision when he was seen getting frisky with Lauren under the covers on two occasions. The news got back to Toni and she decided to call it quits with him. But desite her claiming she was removing herself from the situation with Harrison and Lauren on Tuesday evening, hours later she chose to recouple with him following a shock last minute conversation where he encouraged her to pick him. Following the shock decision, blindsided Cach still remained calm as he walked off and took a moment to himself after the recoupling came to an end. Harrison's partner Lauren broke down in tears after the shock move. Cach's 'respectful energy' has been compared to series five contestant and fan favourite Ovie Soko, who has gone down as one of the best Islanders ever. Many viewers spotted the comparison between the two Love Islanders as they commended his 'emotional maturity' after the fire pit curve ball from Toni. Sharing their thoughts online, they said: 'CACH BROKE MY HEART STOOD THERE he's genuinely bordering Ovie levels for me with his emotional maturity. Love him'; 'My anger is more on Cach. Like who chooses Harrison over Cach... 'Cach reminds me of Ovie. Fine and respectful man. Nah, dont with Toni'; 'Cach is an unmatched man in there, he's getting up to Ovie levels'; 'Same girl. I wish I could go in and recouple with Cach. Cach is like 2nd Ovie... 'Fine, mature and respectful man. Who chooses Harrison over Cach, nah I'm done'; 'We haven't seen a Casa guy as good as Cach since Ovie'; 'Cach is the 2025 Ovie'; 'Cach gives me Ovie vibes'; 'Cach is 2025 version of Ovie'. Cach, who lives in east London and works as a professional dancer, has stuck to his morals during the series as he previously said before entering the villa that he is a 'modern day Romeo' as is the opposite of what people expect. He said: 'I think I'm gonna get into trouble, I feel like I'll be the joker of the group!' adding I'll also be the person people come to for advice... and a bit of eye candy at the same time. 'People expect me to be a bit of a menace when it comes to dating, but if you get to know me and my values I'm the complete opposite, I'm a modern day Romeo!' Following the shock decision, blindsided Cach still remained calm as he walked off and took a moment to himself after the recoupling came to an end. Harrison's partner Lauren broke down in tears after the shock move Many viewers spotted the comparison between the two Love Islanders as they commended his 'emotional maturity' after the fire pit curve ball from Toni He already attempted to find love on TV once before when he was 20-years-old on MTV's Are You The One?, which aired back in 2022. The show sees a group of single people move in together in the hopes of finding their 'perfect match' chosen by since. If the couples are all 'correctly paired' according to the algorithm by the end of the series they split the £200,000 prize fund. The show followed a group of singletons as they are put together in a house to find a match which has been chosen for by science. And there's a £200,000 prize fund up for grabs if they are correctly paired up when the series comes to an end. Even before his latest TV appearance, Cach had a huge following on TikTok and currently boasts more than 700,000 followers. One of Cach's videos in which he can be seen dancing topless wearing a pair of grey joggers has been watched over 14million times. Following Wednesday's brutal recoupling where he was ditched by Toni, many viewers insisted he 'deserved better' in impassioned X posts. They said: 'I have a lot of respect for Cach he deserves better tbh'; 'This is crazy. Cach deserves better mahn. The hell!?'; 'Swear to God someone better fall in love with Cach ASAP! He needs to stay'; 'Cach deserved better. Can't believe he's standing their alone after being nothing but respectful and loyal to Toni'; 'I honestly feel so bad for Cach. King deserved better'; 'I'M SORRY CACH YOU'RE SO MATURE AND BETTER THAN THESE LOSERS'.
