Joselyne Edwards wants Irene Aldana after KO of Priscila Cachoeira at UFC on ESPN 72
LAS VEGAS – Joselyne Edwards met the media Saturday after her knockout win over Priscila Cachoeira at UFC on ESPN 72. Edwards (16-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC) took out Cachoeira (13-7 MMA, 5-7 UFC) in the first round on the prelims at the UFC Apex. It was a finish that looked like it was inevitable for quite a bit before it happened with Cachoeira dropping her hands – and Edwards took advantage. Edwards, from Panama, has won three straight fights and picked up her first UFC post-fight bonus for her finish Saturday. Things appear to be going in the right direction for the 29-year-old, who had a stretch of five fights in which she went 3-2, but missed weight in all three of the wins. Now she has back-to-back first-round knockout wins less than four months apart following her April win over Chelsea Chandler – and she wants former flyweight title challenger Irene Aldana next. "I'm not a loud mouth to give you (sound) bites for you to use," Edwards said. "I'm someone that's been very respectful, but I always wanted to fight (Aldana). "… I'm very happy about the work I've done. The weight's going to be a very tedious thing to go through, but I was able to work through it and I'm very happy about it." UFC on ESPN 72 video: Joselyne Edwards rips vicious combo to KO Priscila Cachoeira
Joselyne Edwards is turning into a finishing machine. Inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas at UFC on ESPN 72, Edwards (16-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC) faced Priscila Cachoeira in what looked to be an all-action women's bantamweight bout on paper. It turned out to be exactly that for as long as it lasted. Edwards put together a finishing combination to knock out Cachoeira (13-6 MMA, 5-6 UFC) at 2:24 of the first round. Edwards gave Cachoeira something to think about early by shooting for a takedown immediately. Cachoeira defended it well, and brought the fight to Edwards by constantly marching forward. However, her hyper-aggression would soon be her downfall. As Cachoeira marched forward swining big punches, she failed to keep her defense tight, allowing Edwards to rip vicious counter combinations. A hard left-right combo from Edwards sent "Zombie Girl" crashing to the canvas midway through the round. Check out the replay of the finish below (via X): Make it three straight finishes for Edwards. She entered the fight with momentum of a third-round submission of Tamires Vidal and a first-round TKO of Chelsea Chandler. On the other side, Cachoeira has been finished in three of her last four fights. Up-to-the-minute UFC on ESPN 72 results:

Priscila Cachoeira on differences between pressure and responsibility after crucial UFC Fight Night 254 knockout
LAS VEGAS – Priscila Cachoeira beat Josiane Nunes with a first-round knockout Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 254 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Take a look inside the fight with Cachoeira, who said her knockout win was the last fight on her current deal, and hence came at just the right time. Priscila Cachoeira def. Josiane Nunes Result: Priscila Cachoeira def. Josiane Nunes via knockout (punch) – Round 1, 2:46 Updated records: Cachoeira (13-6 MMA, 5-6 UFC), Nunes (10-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) Key stats: Cachoeira has all eight of her stoppage wins by knockout. Cachoeira on the fight's key moment 'She brought a lot of pressure, and I definitely felt she was strong. But I knew I had my chances. I also tried to connect on the counter. But I knew my uppercut was going to be there. It was something my coaches told me. I knew I was going to have chances to use it, and I got it in and got my knockout.' Cachoeira on pressure 'Of course I'm going to feel a little bit of pressure. I was also fighting the last fight on my contract. So that added another layer of pressure, but at the end of the day, I worked as hard as I could. The adrenaline doesn't really let you feel pressure or fear. I did feel the responsibility because it was my last fight (on my contract), we had lost two (straight), and I had all my team and we had been working very hard.' Cachoeira on what she wants next 'I feel just fine. I've got no damage at all and I'm ready for the call. A month, month and a half? I just want to fight.'
