Cadillac unveils Le Mans Livery with Mobil 1™ brand as Primary Sponsor
Cadillac welcomes the Mobil 1™ brand as its primary sponsor of the No. 101 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The livery features the iconic Mobil 1 logo across the sides and front of the blue and white Hypercar – symbolizing a powerful collaboration in motorsport excellence. The Cadillac V-Series.R, powered by the purpose-built 5.5-liter DOHC V8 engine, marks the third-generation Cadillac prototype racecar and the brand's first hybrid electrified race car. The move marks Cadillac's intention to compete in the sport not as token entrants but as serious competitors, supported by a strategic plan that involves Ferrari engines in the early years and a switch to General Motors motors in the second half of the decade. With Sergio Perez added, there is also much experience within the new organisation. Formula E Drivers Norman Nato and Nyck De Vries compete in FIA World Endurance Championship: Here's how they qualified for 6 Hours of Imola
Formula E drivers Norman Nato and Nyck De Vries are currently in Italy for the second round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). They participated in the 6 Hours of Imola Qualifying on Saturday, moving a step closer to the main race. Nato finished 9th, while De Vries secured 5th place in the session. Nyck De Vries, from Mahindra Racing's Formula E team, finished 5th in the Imola qualifying. Calling it his best effort on track, De Vries told Toyota Europe Newsroom: 'As a team, I think we can be fairly satisfied with qualifying fourth and fifth here. We maximised our package, as you can see from the tiny gap between the two cars. I don't think we could have done much better than that; we did a strong job to execute a clean qualifying. The gap to the front cars looks quite big over one lap, but we will do our best with race pace, tyre management, and strategy to challenge for the podium.' Both drivers are now set to compete in the final race of the 6 Hours of Imola on Sunday, scheduled from 1 PM to 7 PM local time. How Norman Nato, Nyck De Vries fared in Miami E-Prix In their last Formula E outing at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, Nato faced heartbreak after losing what looked like a sure win due to post-race penalties. Although he clinched pole and crossed the line first at the Miami E-Prix, he was relegated to 6th place in the revised results. De Vries had qualified 5th in Miami but ultimately dropped to 11th in the final standings after penalties were applied. Following this, they'll shift focus to Round 6 of the Formula E World Championship—the highly anticipated Monaco double-header on May 3 and 4. Cadillac secures 4 entries in 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race
Cadillac will return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June with four Cadillac V-Series.R racecars supported by experienced and championship-winning teams and drivers. Event organizer Automobile Club de l'Quest extended the invitations to Cadillac Racing, which had three Hypercar entries in the endurance race the past two years. This year's event, to be held on June 14 and 15, will mark 75 years since the first Cadillac entry at Circuit de la Sarthe. 'We're thrilled to have Cadillac Racing return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with four cars competing for the overall win in the Hypercar class,' said John Roth, vice president, global Cadillac. 'After scoring our first podium finish at this iconic endurance race in 2023 and securing a top 10 finish last year, we look to build on that success and showcase the Cadillac V-Series.R's technology, performance, and innovation with our 2025 entries.' Cadillac Racing's roster features drivers who have earned overall and class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, plus FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titles among other motorsports accolades. The Nos. 12 and 38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA received automatic invitations based on full-season participation in the WEC. JOTA Sport is in its first year of WEC Hypercar competition as a works team. Jenson Button, Earl Bamber, Sebastien Bourdais, Alex Lynn, Norman Nato and Will Stevens will be the No. 101 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R, a full-season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship entrant in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class, will compete at Le Mans for the first time. The racecar, co-developed by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing, and chassis constructor Dallara, was informed by the Project GTP Hypercar that was unveiled in June 2022. It incorporates distinctive Cadillac design elements, such as vertical lighting and floating blades. Cadillac's early history at Le Mans The first Cadillacs that raced at Le Mans were entered by Briggs Cunningham and Miles and Sam Collier in 1950. Both Series 61 coupes were powered by the Cadillac 5.4-liter OHV V-8 engine. The Collier brothers drove the No. 3 'Petit Pataud' to a 10th-place finish.
