Nando's confirms it has discontinued side dish that was a ‘great healthy option'

Scroll down to see when it was axed PERI BAD Nando's confirms it has discontinued side dish that was a 'great healthy option' NANDO'S fans have been left gutted after the chicken chain quietly axed a salad dish from the menu. The Leafy Green Salad – a light, fresh option topped with PERi-PERi seeds – has been discontinued, with the chain confirming it was removed back in October. Advertisement 4 The Leafy Green Salad was axed back in October 4 Nando's has now swapped it for a new addition: the Portuguese Tomato Salad Made with mixed salad leaves, a sweet and herby vinegar dressing, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and toasted PERi-PERi seeds, it was a go-to for fans looking for a healthier side to go with their flame-grilled chicken. It was introduced back in Nando's winter menu in November 2023. One customer posted the news on Reddit with the following caption, "It was great to have a healthy option." But Nando's has now swapped it for a new addition: the Portuguese Tomato Salad. Advertisement This vibrant new side is made with a mix of semi-dried, sweet baby and salad tomatoes, cucumber moons, and tangy pink pickled onions – all lightly dressed for a fresh summer feel. The chain said it 'hopes' the Tomato Salad will be a permanent fixture – but didn't confirm if it'll stick around for good. Meanwhile, there's some good news for fans of the cult classic Mediterranean Salad. 4 The cult classic Mediterranean Salad has returned Advertisement 4 For a limited time only the new Caesar Salad is available in Nando's across the UK Nando's revealed it's 'back at every Nando's across the UK and Ireland' – although it warned: 'It's here for a good time, not a long time.' That salad includes a medley of semi-dried and sweet baby tomatoes, olives, feta, cucumber moons and pink pickled onions on a bed of mixed leaves, drizzled with Rozendal vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. Also hitting menus for a limited time is the new Caesar Salad – made with crunchy cos lettuce, creamy Caesar dressing, grated Italian hard cheese and herby toasted croutons. Advertisement Nandos fans say as Aldi stocks a replica range - including their peri-peri fries for just £1.49 A Nando's spokesperson told The Sun said: 'We regularly make updates to our menus and introduce new ingredients and flavours which our fans love. "Leafy Green Salad came off the menu in October, but alternative salad options and sides are available.' OTHER DISCONTINUED ITEMS Fans of McDonald's recently said goodbye to the Minecraft Meal, which fans described as the first McDonald's 'adult Happy Meal' and a McFlurry as part of the change. Whilst, Costa Coffee axed a banana and chocolate muffin in March after it just launched in January. Advertisement Why are products axed or recipes changed? ANALYSIS by chief consumer reporter James Flanders. Food and drinks makers have been known to tweak their recipes or axe items altogether. They often say that this is down to the changing tastes of customers. There are several reasons why this could be done. For example, government regulation, like the "sugar tax," forces firms to change their recipes. Some manufacturers might choose to tweak ingredients to cut costs. They may opt for a cheaper alternative, especially when costs are rising to keep prices stable. For example, Tango Cherry disappeared from shelves in 2018. It has recently returned after six years away but as a sugar-free version. Fanta removed sweetener from its sugar-free alternative earlier this year. Suntory tweaked the flavour of its flagship Lucozade Original and Orange energy drinks. While the amount of sugar in every bottle remains unchanged, the supplier swapped out the sweetener aspartame for sucralose. Sainsbury's recently confirmed it had discontinued its Patisserie Valerie cake slices from branches. Meanwhile, Aldi axed its popular Deli smoke pork sausages across 100 stores leaving shoppers devastated. Lidl dropped beloved fridge essential Dairy Manor lactose-free skimmed milk from shelves recently too. Sainsbury's has also axed popular own-brand Meat Free Steaks to customer frustration. Advertisement Baked goods giant Greggs recently caused a stir after dropping ham salad baguettes from menus, as exclusively revealed by The Sun. The lunch item was axed in favour of other fresh baguettes, despite its popularity among hungry shoppers. One customer posted on X: 'Was so upset to be told that your ham salad baguettes have been discontinued while at your Marlborough store today." 'That's my midweek treat every week and seems to be very popular.' Advertisement A second added: 'I would have loved a ham salad baguette but for some bizarre reason you have stopped doing them! Scandalous!" Meanwhile, Tesco shoppers were left baffled after finding out it had discontinued six-pint bottles of whole milk.

You Can't Beat Caesar Salad and Fries at the Bar

It's a well-known fact that the time between 3 and 5 o'clock in the afternoon is a liminal space (as well as the scariest time of day to ride the subway — all of those teenagers!). It's too late for lunch, too early for dinner. But it's the Goldilocks hour for a little treat. That could be an afternoon latte and a big, warm cookie. Or a Caesar salad and a plate of French fries. This is not to be confused with the New York Happy Meal — a martini and fries — as coined by E. Alex Jung of New York magazine. It's simply an offshoot of 'little treat o'clock.' Shopping spree in SoHo? Caesar salad and fries. Post-matinee snack? Caesar salad and fries. Just because? Caesar salad and fries. Here are three of my favorite places to grab that magic combo, just about any time of day. The West Village is a hot topic of discussion this week. It has changed in ways that few people can completely wrap their heads around, but there are certain restaurants that I have to believe will last forever. The nearly 20-year-old Cafe Cluny is among them. How could a charming, corner restaurant on a tree-lined street not outlive us all? Cafe Cluny's bar is a whisper of a thing, but it's democratic (first come first served). You can grab a seat any time of day because it's a cafe in the truest sense of the word. As servers in black-and-white striped shirts swirl around the room, order the Little Gem and endive Caesar salad with Parmesan crouton crackers. And if you know anything about either of those greens, you know they're not romaine. They're classy and understated, and can be eaten in just one bite, which is apparently asking a lot these days. That little salad with the platonic ideal of French fries that Cafe Cluny serves — crispy, orange-gold and served in a metal cup — simply can't be beaten. 284 West 12th Street (West 4th Street) Want all of The Times? Martha Stewart Knows She'd Make a ‘Fabulous' WAG

Martha Stewart is a pro at many things, the Super Bowl included. The businesswoman, author, and lifestyle guru has attended 30—maybe even more, she's lost count—games in her lifetime. But for her, it's less about who's playing and more about keeping up with the zeitgeist and having a great time with friends. In fact, it's that cheerful commitment to always living it up that would make her the perfect candidate for one of the sports world's most essential roles: that of the WAG. Stewart is game, for the record. 'Only fabulous,' she quips when asked how she'd be as the wife or girlfriend of a player. 'Those guys are nice and big and muscly, and they're probably fun.' Also fun: Stewart's new Super Bowl ad with Uber Eats, in which she stars alongside Matthew McConaughey, Charli XCX, and others as they muse on the conspiracy theory that football was invented to sell food. Stewart is also releasing a new Caesar Salad recipe exclusively on Uber Eats that fans can order on Sunday to eat as they watch the big game at the Caesars (salad, get it?) Superdome in New Orleans. Below, we caught up with Stewart ahead of the big game to talk about what it was like hanging out with Charli XCX, why she's rooting for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, and more. Glamour: I heard you've attended 30 Super Bowls. Is that correct? Martha Stewart: Oh, probably more. I don't know. I have to count one of these days. I've gone all kinds of places—Tampa, at least two times in Arizona, California, New Orleans… This is the second New Orleans. What makes you keep going back? What do you love about it so much, because that's a lot to deal with between the travel, the security… I am a hero worshiper, so I only watch football at the Super Bowl. Or, the final, the playoffs, and the Super Bowl. Same with basketball. Same with golf. I only watch the championships. Just to keep up so I know what's going on. And I have so many friends that go, so we all go together. We have a great time. Before we get more into the Super Bowl, I want to talk about this Uber Eats commercial you did. It's so fun. Before this partnership, were you somebody who ordered a lot on Uber Eats? I never order in. I just don't do that. Usually if I'm hungry, I'll eat a can of sardines. And now everybody can order your Caesar Superdome salad. What's one thing that is a mainstay in your salads? Is there something you have to have in your salads? The best thing in a salad is the vinaigrette. If you don't have a good vinaigrette, you do not have a good salad. Anything you'd never put in a salad? One thing that I don't want in a salad… I don't like garbanzo beans. So, tell me about teaming up with Matthew McConaughey and Charli XCX. Had you ever met them before, and what was it like? I've known Matthew, but I really didn't know who Charli XCX was and we had so much fun. She's great. She's very talented. I didn't know she was the brat. We had a lot of fun working together. We were together all day long, and Matthew was there for three days doing that commercial. Just look at all the parts he has in that commercial. Look how many scenes he has. It's the history of the Super Bowl in 60 seconds. It's pretty good. You got off easy. Yeah, I only had to be there for one day. Are you going to be attending Charli XCX's concerts now? Do you have a lifetime pass to be one of her groupies? Oh, she's coming up to my farm. We're going to hang out. I'm going to introduce her to my granddaughter, who loves her, and we're going to have fun. She's getting married. I have to send her my wedding book. I forgot to do that. I usually send people who are getting married my beautiful, big, blue wedding book. Who are you rooting for on Sunday? Oh, I'll be for Kansas City. And my grandson, who's going also, is rooting for the Eagles, of course. He's always, always rooting for the other team. How come you're rooting for Kansas City? Were you always a Kansas City fan? No, no. I'm a Buffalo Bills fan. I was hoping that they would win. But they're not. I used to be a Giants fan, but where the heck are the Giants? I was looking up to see if you had ever met Taylor Swift before, and I found a picture of you and Taylor with Betty White from, it must be 20 years ago. Do you remember that? Oh, yeah. I saw her in England. We were on a tour, and we hung out a very short time in London. She's a great girl. That was long time ago. I know you've said before that Taylor and Travis are so cute, and I agree with you. That's the only reason I watch now is for Taylor and Travis coverage. I saw them at the Olympics too. No, I saw Travis' brother there. I saw them at the US Open. They were in the next box. Did you get to talk to them? I waved to them. I really didn't have time to talk to them. What are your hopes for them, especially in the off season? What do you want to see for them in their future? I'm a fan of Taylor Swift, and our paths have crossed a few times over the years. I hope to see her in New Orleans this weekend. I'm really rooting for her and Travis. They are a wonderful couple. Hopefully they'll get married soon…I'm waiting just like everybody else! How would you be as a WAG? Only fabulous. Those guys are nice and big and muscly, and they're probably fun. You would be a fabulous WAG. Yeah, I can cook a nice meal. Take care of them. It'd be great. My house might be a little delicate for a football player. Basketball player would be probably better for me.
