Rafizi to get stern warning over ‘cai' list ahead of PKR polls

PKR election committee chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the complaint against Rafizi Ramli will be referred to the party's disciplinary committee. PETALING JAYA : PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli will only receive a 'stern' warning from the party's central election committee for openly announcing his preferred lineup of candidates ahead of the internal elections tomorrow. Election committee chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa said Rafizi's move to issue 'cai' (list of preferred candidates) violated the party's 2025 election guidelines, Berita Harian reported. 'We have made it clear at the central leadership council level that we would take action on any complaints,' Zaliha was quoted as saying at a media briefing today ahead of the PKR national congress in Johor Bahru. 'For now, the election committee will issue a stern warning to those involved. The complaint will then be referred to the party's disciplinary committee,' she said. Rafizi had released a Facebook post naming his preferred candidates for the four slots of vice-presidents out of a total of 12 contenders. His picks were Chang Lih Kang, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Aminuddin Harun and G Manivanan. While limited digital promotion of 'cai' lists is permitted under the current rules, Zaliha said Rafizi's 'public and aggressive' announcement on Facebook amounted to group campaigning, which is strictly prohibited. She also ordered the removal of campaign banners found near polling centres in Johor Bahru. 'We inspected the congress venue and found several banners at voting areas and we have ordered their removal. 'Candidates have also been instructed to take down any campaign materials from polling areas,' she said. The party's central leadership committee elections are set to take place tomorrow.
