Call of Duty Mobile Season 7 update rolls out on July 31: What to expect
American video game publisher Activision is set to roll out Call of Duty: Mobile's Season 7 update, titled Phantom Current, on July 31 at 5:30 am (IST). The new season introduces a limited-time RC-XD car racing mode in multiplayer, the franchise's first-ever implementation of the Gulag in battle royale, and a themed crossover with Girls' Frontline. Players can also expect a new LMG, scorestreak, and additional unlockables via the Battle Pass. Call of Duty Mobile Phantom Current: What's new Key additions in multiplayer and battle royale Season 7 debuts a new multiplayer mode called Mini Mayhem, where players race RC-XD vehicles across various maps. Races can include up to eight participants and feature respawn checkpoints in case of crashes or environmental hazards. Victories contribute to a leaderboard system and unlock custom vehicle skins. In the battle royale mode, the Gulag (in-game arena) arrives for the first time in Call of Duty: Mobile. Available only on the Isolated map, this limited-time event allows players a single 1v1 duel after their first elimination. A win results in redeployment; a loss relegates players to spectating, unless revived via dog tag buybacks at the Buy Station. Additional attempts require Gulag Tickets, which are also purchasable at the Buy Station. New weapon, scorestreak, and Wildcard The Phantom Current Battle Pass includes the new MG 82 light machine gun, which Activision said is noted for its fast fire rate and large magazine. Another addition is the Bomb Drone scorestreak, which enables remote attacks from above. A new MP Wildcard, Skill Overdrive, lets players equip an extra Operator Skill, though at a balancing cost. Free and premium Battle Pass content Free Battle Pass tiers will provide access to the MG 82, Bomb Drone, Vault Coins, and other cosmetic items. Premium tiers will offer themed Operator skins — including Farah (Stealth), Kreuger (Deep Six), Ethan (AQUA-44), and Stone (Painkiller) — along with weapon blueprints for the KN-44, QQ9, Peacekeeper MK2, XPR-50, and MG 82. Battle Pass subscribers under the Ground Forces plan will receive the Zane (Monsoon Season) skin, an SKS blueprint, and a backpack cosmetic, in addition to XP boosts and in-game discounts. Limited-time events and collaborations The update brings several in-game events: Challenge Pass: Completing missions earns tokens for exchanging summer-themed cosmetics like the Soap — Toxic Splash skin and Jet Skies camos. Secret Caches: A new progression system unlocks the RUS-79U — Mystical Lamp legendary weapon and other milestone rewards. Girls' Frontline crossover: The collaboration includes themed event tasks, free rewards, and a Lucky Draw featuring Scylla — ASM10 and the corresponding legendary weapon. Additional content is available via bundles and Strongboxes. Store draws and returning content A new Mythic Operator, Dark Shepherd — Phantom, is available through a limited-time Draw. The Draw also includes two Legendary weapons: AS-VAL — Shadow Marksman and a scythe melee weapon. Once acquired, Dark Shepherd can be further upgraded with kill effects, custom reticles, and visuals. Additional legendary draws include: Bloody Seas: Nyx skin and USS 9 — Spectral Seas Fathomless: Bathysphere Operator and JAK-12 — Briny Deep Broken Tides: Lustre Operator and Grau 5.56 — Immense Tides A limited-time Double CP event will also run throughout the season, offering bonus COD Points on purchases. Finally, two past Battle Passes — Zombies Are Back (Season 9, 2022) and Ultimate Frontier (Season 11, 2022) — are returning to the Vault.

Iranian Trump Supporter Detained By ICE, Wife Shocked
An Alabama woman married to an Iranian immigrant says her family regrets supporting President Donald Trump and his aggressive immigration policies after ICE detained her husband over the weekend as part of a recent round-up of Iranian nationals. 'We believed in his [Trump's] immigration policies and were completely blindsided and truly believed that only criminals were being detained,' Morgan Gardner told Newsweek. Gardner's husband, Ribvar Karimi, was one of 11 Iranian nationals arrested Sunday and taken into the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Department of Homeland Security claimed the arrests reflect its 'commitment to keeping known and suspected terrorists out of American communities.' DHS has painted Karimi as a threat to national security, saying he served as a sniper in the Iranian army from 2018 to 2021 and had an Islamic Republic of Iran army identification card. Military service is compulsory in Iran for all men aged 18–49. Draft evaders face prosecution and may lose their social benefits and civil rights, including employment, education, and the ability to leave the country. Deserters face imprisonment. 'We have been saying we are getting the worst of the worst out—and we are. We don't wait until a military operation to execute; we proactively deliver on President Trump's mandate to secure the homeland,' DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. Gardner told CBS affiliate WIAT that her husband 'never fought any American forces or our allies,' and said 'he actually fought ISIS himself and was captured at one point' during his service. According to the couple's wedding website, they first met online playing the video game Call of Duty: Mobile. 'He brought happiness back to me, and taught me what it is like to be loved correctly,' Gardner wrote on the site. 'He encouraged me, and still encourages me each and every day. He sees the best in me, and never has given up, despite how difficult I can be sometimes.' Gardner's cousin Cyndi Edwards wrote in a GoFundMe set up to offset legal fees that the couple spent years 'meeting in Turkey while navigating the complex immigration process.' 'Ribvar quickly became a beloved member of Morgan's rural Alabama community, supporting her family and friends, and caring for Morgan's father during a health crisis,' Edwards wrote. 'Most importantly, Ribvar helped Morgan find her self-worth and guided her toward a healthier, happier life.' DHS said Karimi entered the US legally in October 2024 under a K-1 marriage visa reserved for people engaged to American citizens. However, he never adjusted his status, which is a legal requirement, and not doing so can trigger a removal order. Gardner told WIAT that her attorney said previous administrations would not have let her husband be taken away and that he should have been protected because he is married to a US citizen. She added that she and Karimi put his green card application on hold after she found out she was pregnant and had pregnancy complications. 'I understand that they've got a job to do, immigration, but I just feel like he was specifically targeted because of what's going on where he's from, his home country,' Gardner told WIAT. Gardner is seven months pregnant, but remains hopeful that her husband will be with her when she gives birth. 'My heart is broken,' Gardner told the outlet. 'Our baby shower is going to be next weekend, and he's not going to be at home to go to that with me.' Giving birth alone is not Gardner's only fear. She told Newsweek that Karimi's family worries that if he were to be deported back to Iran, the government would kill him due to his open support for the US and opposition to the Iranian regime. 'My husband himself, even being from Iran, supported Trump, his immigration policies, and understood he was trying to protect the American people and was praying he helped free the Iranian people,' Gardner told Newsweek. While Morgan told the outlet she did not vote in the previous presidential election, her family has supported Trump in the past and now feels betrayed. 'Everyone feels like a fool and regrets the decision. I personally didn't vote in the last election, and neither did my parents. At this point, I believe there are bad people on the left and the right,' Gardner said.

The OnePlus Nord 5 features a powerful Snapdragon 8 chip
OnePlus just announced the Nord 5 smartphone, a refresh of its popular mid-range handset line. This one includes a flagship Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 chipset by Qualcomm, which should provide plenty of raw power for gaming, multitasking and general use. There's an upgraded cooling system here, along with support for LPDDR5X RAM. It features a dual rear camera system and will be available in a pale blue finish that's officially called "Dry Ice." The company says the upgraded specs allow the Nord 5 to really shine when gaming, touting "unparalleled performance in its class" with "robust support for leading mobile games." It mentioned that the device can run Call of Duty: Mobile natively at 144FPS, with real-time ray tracing. OnePlus is also releasing a companion phone called the Nord CE5. We don't know much about this one, other than it's likely to be a slightly cheaper version of the standard headset. Both of these phones will feature the company's newly-announced Plus Key , which replaced the Alert Slider . Users can customize this button to perform a number of tasks, but it's better known as an instantaneous way to pull up AI tools. The cute lil AI button first appeared with the OnePlus 13s, which launched in Asia earlier this month. In addition to the Nord 5, the company also announced the OnePlus Buds 4. These high-end earbuds offer ultra-low latency audio for gamers, with dual drivers, support for Hi-Res audio and other bells and whistles. They will be available in both green and dark gray. It also revealed a new smartwatch and a tablet. We don't have pricing or availability information for any of this stuff just yet. The company has a launch event planned for July 8, which should provide us with all of those relevant details.

Activision is abandoning Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile
Activision announced on the official X account of its Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile title that it would sunset updates and delist it from the Google Play store and the App Store. Activision is giving players a last chance to download the departing game, which will be removed by the end of today. According to Activision, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile "has not met our expectations with mobile first players like it has with PC and console audiences." Considering the game's troubled launch, this discontinuation doesn't come as a surprise to its player base. Activision's mobile adaptation of its battle royale title launched in March 2024, which was two years after it was first announced. Looking at the overall timeline of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile , fans spent more than two years waiting for its release, only to get roughly a year's worth of gameplay that had poor optimization and serious battery life demands. If you install Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile before May 19, 2025, you'll still have access to the game with "continued cross-progression of shared inventories using existing content," Activision wrote on the X post. The publisher added that servers will stay online and that it'd notify players of any changes. For diehard fans, that's not much of a guarantee that the Warzone Mobile servers will remain active in perpetuity. To incentivize existing players to migrate to its other titles, Activision said that you can log into Call of Duty: Mobile with your Activision account to claim two times amount of COD points you had in your Warzone Mobile account, along with "other awesome rewards." However, Activision added that any unused COD points and whatever you have already purchased in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile can't be refunded.
