Earnings Preview: PVH (PVH) Q1 Earnings Expected to Decline
PVH (PVH) is expected to deliver a year-over-year decline in earnings on lower revenues when it reports results for the quarter ended April 2025. This widely-known consensus outlook gives a good sense of the company's earnings picture, but how the actual results compare to these estimates is a powerful factor that could impact its near-term stock price. The earnings report, which is expected to be released on June 4, 2025, might help the stock move higher if these key numbers are better than expectations. On the other hand, if they miss, the stock may move lower. While the sustainability of the immediate price change and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's discussion of business conditions on the earnings call, it's worth handicapping the probability of a positive EPS surprise. This owner of the Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands is expected to post quarterly earnings of $2.23 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of -9%. Revenues are expected to be $1.94 billion, down 0.8% from the year-ago quarter. The consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 1.1% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. This is essentially a reflection of how the covering analysts have collectively reassessed their initial estimates over this period. Investors should keep in mind that the direction of estimate revisions by each of the covering analysts may not always get reflected in the aggregate change. Estimate revisions ahead of a company's earnings release offer clues to the business conditions for the period whose results are coming out. Our proprietary surprise prediction model -- the Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction) -- has this insight at its core. The Zacks Earnings ESP compares the Most Accurate Estimate to the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter; the Most Accurate Estimate is a more recent version of the Zacks Consensus EPS estimate. The idea here is that analysts revising their estimates right before an earnings release have the latest information, which could potentially be more accurate than what they and others contributing to the consensus had predicted earlier. Thus, a positive or negative Earnings ESP reading theoretically indicates the likely deviation of the actual earnings from the consensus estimate. However, the model's predictive power is significant for positive ESP readings only. A positive Earnings ESP is a strong predictor of an earnings beat, particularly when combined with a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold). Our research shows that stocks with this combination produce a positive surprise nearly 70% of the time, and a solid Zacks Rank actually increases the predictive power of Earnings ESP. Please note that a negative Earnings ESP reading is not indicative of an earnings miss. Our research shows that it is difficult to predict an earnings beat with any degree of confidence for stocks with negative Earnings ESP readings and/or Zacks Rank of 4 (Sell) or 5 (Strong Sell). For PVH, the Most Accurate Estimate is lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate, suggesting that analysts have recently become bearish on the company's earnings prospects. This has resulted in an Earnings ESP of -1.05%. On the other hand, the stock currently carries a Zacks Rank of #2. So, this combination makes it difficult to conclusively predict that PVH will beat the consensus EPS estimate. While calculating estimates for a company's future earnings, analysts often consider to what extent it has been able to match past consensus estimates. So, it's worth taking a look at the surprise history for gauging its influence on the upcoming number. For the last reported quarter, it was expected that PVH would post earnings of $3.19 per share when it actually produced earnings of $3.27, delivering a surprise of +2.51%. Over the last four quarters, the company has beaten consensus EPS estimates four times. An earnings beat or miss may not be the sole basis for a stock moving higher or lower. Many stocks end up losing ground despite an earnings beat due to other factors that disappoint investors. Similarly, unforeseen catalysts help a number of stocks gain despite an earnings miss. That said, betting on stocks that are expected to beat earnings expectations does increase the odds of success. This is why it's worth checking a company's Earnings ESP and Zacks Rank ahead of its quarterly release. Make sure to utilize our Earnings ESP Filter to uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they've reported. PVH doesn't appear a compelling earnings-beat candidate. However, investors should pay attention to other factors too for betting on this stock or staying away from it ahead of its earnings release. AI influencers are shaping Gen Z's shopping habits
According to new research from Whop, a marketplace for digital products, one in three Gen Z consumers now make purchasing decisions based on recommendations from AI-generated influencers. The report gathered survey data from 2,001 Americans 12-to-27 years old and found the trend particularly strong among college-aged consumers. Nearly half of 19-to-21 year olds follow AI influencers, with 47% of young men following these accounts, compared to under 40% of women. While many have argued that AI influencers lack the authenticity needed to sell products, that might not matter—especially to Gen Z. Authenticity vs reach Previous research backs this up. Nearly half (46%) of Gen Z say they're more likely to trust a brand that works with an AI influencer. Only 35% of Gen Z respondents said they valued an influencer's authenticity, according to Sprout Social's 2024 Influencer Marketing Report, compared to about half of millennials, Gen X, and baby boomers. What Gen Z does care about is follower count. Almost half (47%) said the number of followers matters more than how authentic the influencer feels. Unsurprisingly, almost half (49%) of influencers admit they're worried. Lil Miquela, one of the most high-profile virtual creators, with 2.4 million followers on Instagram, has pulled in brand deals with BMW, Calvin Klein, and Dior. The character reportedly earns close to seven figures annually; a Bloomberg article from 2020 estimated $8,000 per sponsored post, citing data from OnBuy. Other notable AI influencers include Nonoouri (498,000 followers), Magazine Luzie (7.8 million followers), and Shudu (237,000 followers). Platforms are now leaning in. Meta recently launched tools that allow users to create their own AI characters on Instagram and Facebook, opening the door for creators to build their own virtual influencers with no coding or design background needed. 'Our findings are clear: younger generations are hungry for opportunities to make money online. It's a sign of the times, and what more is to come,' said Cameron Zoub, chief growth officer and cofounder of Whop, in a statement. 'However, creating an AI influencer and the ability to make a living off of one are two very different things.'

Enthusiastic reviews are pouring in, with one shopper writing: "I bought this as a last minute purchase as I was heading out. "The smell is very nice not too overpowering and you want to keep smelling more. However the longevity isn't as good for me it lasts about 2 hrs after that you and others wont even know you have perfume on. I guess for the price it makes sense." Meanwhile, another satisfied customer said: "Nice classy smell, not too overpowering, good for any occasion." A third said: "Lovely aftershave. I bought it based on the description and ingredient notes and it was very accurate. Great value sale purchase." A further fan said: "I bought this as a gift and he really liked it. Nice fragrance, it lasts quite a while considering it's EAU de toilette." However, one buyer said: "Nice smell but the spray bottle broke on the first use so not really impressed." Another put: "Scent fades after 10mins. Smell is good just doesn't last." An additional reviewer revealed they got their partner hooked. "Bought this for my husband as it was on promotion, he liked it that much he's now on a second bottle," they said. And someone else added: "Bought this for my husband. He liked it. Nice smell and value for money." One commenter also celebrated the price, writing: "This was bought as a birthday gift; it was half price and a real bargain." But one more said: "The smell is nothing to write home about. Really disappointed with this purchase."

Sephora knocks £50 off 'masculine' aftershave in time for Father's Day
'I love how great and masculine my husband smells when he uses this fragrance, is a very perfect one for every occasion. Is also a long lasting one!' Sephora has knocked more than £50 off a 'masculine' designer scent that could be a great option for Father's Day gifts. Calvin Klein Defy Eau de Toilette would usually cost £83 for a 100ml bottle but has dropped down to £29.05 for a limited time. It opens up with notes of bergamot and lavender before settling into a heart of vetiver and an amber base for something all round 'masculine'. It was crafted by Anne Flipo, Pascal Gaurin and Loc Dong who are all well established perfumers having worked on YSL Libre, Tom Ford's Amber Intrigue (£300) and Rabanne Phantom (£72) respectively. Defy has been described as a mature scent making it ideal for gifting for Father's Day. It's said to be fresh and masculine without being overpowering. Defy has pulled in over 390 five-star reviews on Sephora. One shopper said: "I love how great and masculine my husband smells when he uses this fragrance, is a very perfect one for every occasion. Is also a long lasting one!" A second penned: "My husband and I both love the scent of this cologne. It's definitely masculine, but it does have a lovely freshness to it as well. It's not overwhelming and settles nicely while not completely disappearing after a few hours. Overall we love it and would recommend it to others!" A third wrote: "It smells like something an older man would wear to be honest. My husband was not a fan - doesn't mean others wouldn't like it though. Just a more mature scent than he normally goes for." While this might not be the best option for younger men, this could make it a great option for Father's Day. A fourth added: "Lovely perfume is the new fragrance from Calvin Klein that will make you feel amazing. It's a fresh and floral lovely, packaging, projection, and value for money and an scent that defies expectations and captures your personality and versatility . Whether you're going out for a date, a meeting, or a casual day, Lovely perfume will enhance your mood and your confidence."
