AI medical scribe sees ‘early success' for Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team

The Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team said they have been seeing positive results since implementing Heidi AI scribe in early 2025, July 9, 2025 (Sidra Jafri/CTV News). The Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team (CND OHT) said they have already been seeing positive results since implementing an artificial intelligence scribe earlier this year. In a release, the CND OHT said they began using Heidi, an AI transcription tool, used to take over the task of note taking and writing detailed care notes. They said Heidi has supported over 2,900 patient consultations weekly so far, which, according to one doctor, helped have more meaningful appointments with patients. 'Not having to focus on note taking, I can engage more with my patients, listen to their concerns, ask thoughtful questions and develop more personalized and effective care plans,' said CND OHT Dr. Cameila Singh in part. The CND OHT said the tool allegedly helped doctors and clinicians save over 530 hours in documentation per week. They've also claimed it helps lower stress and burnout and cut over 10 minutes of consultation with patients. Initial evaluation of Heidi was done over three months, with 169 doctors in varying specialties using the AI scribe. The CND OHT claimed the tool showed 70 per cent more accuracy in clinical records, with 80 per cent of note allegedly needing minimal edits afterward.
