Watch: Michael Douglas reflects on family drama in 'Looking Through Water'

File Photo by Rune Hellestad/ UPI | License Photo Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Good Deed Entertainment released the trailer for Looking Through Water on Monday. The film stars Michael Douglas, his son Cameron Douglas, Michael Stahl-David, David Morse and Walker Scobell. Michael Douglas plays William McKay, who tells his grandson (Scobell) a story. As a young man (Stahl-David), William reconnected with his father, Leo (Morse) in a father/son fishing competition. Cameron Douglas plays Leo's fishing guide, Cole. Ximena Romo plays Julia, a local doctor who catches young William's eye. Based on books by Bob Rich, Zach Dean and Rowdy Herrington wrote the screenplay. Roberto Sneider directed. Michael and Cameron Douglas previously played father and son in the 2003 film It Runs in the Family. Looking Through Water is in theaters Sept. 12.

Michael Douglas and real-life son Cameron Douglas are set to reunite on the big screen. Good Deed Entertainment has acquired domestic rights to Looking Through Water — a family drama feature starring Michael Douglas — and is planning a late summer theatrical release, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. Roberto Sneider helmed the film that co-stars Cameron Douglas alongside Walker Scobell, David Morse, Michael Stahl-David, Ximena Romo and Tamara Tunie. Sneider (Tear This Heart Out) directed the movie from a script by Rowdy Herrington (director of the original Road House) and Zach Dean (Fast X). Hailing from Aeth Entertainment, the project is based on the novels Catching Big Fish and Looking Through Water from author Bob Rich, who executive produces. Producers include Robert Mitas, Stan Spry, Carla Woods and Eric Woods. Storyboard Media's Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard Segel executive produces and handles worldwide sales. Costa de Beauregard Segel and Carla Woods negotiated for the film that was previously known as Blood Knot. 'With Good Deed and Storyboard Media on board, we're excited to bring Looking Through Water to audiences — it's a story of healing, forgiveness and second chances, while the American pastime of fishing connects generations through water,' says Aeth Entertainment CEO Eric Woods. 'We are honored to be teaming up with Aeth Entertainment and Storyboard Media to bring Looking Through Water to audiences in the U.S. later this summer,' adds GDE head of acquisitions and distribution Erik Donley. Michael and Cameron Douglas previously starred together in the 2003 feature It Runs in the Family, alongside Michael's late real-life parents Kirk Douglas and Diana Douglas. Michael was last seen on the big screen in 2023's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Cameron Douglas' recent credits include the 2022 Bruce Willis-led action film Wire Room and the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room. Southern United snatch shield in upset win

Photo: Supplied Southern United will have one week to enjoy their Challenge Shield triumph before putting it on the line for the first time. The Stingers, currently sixth on the table but riding a three-game winning streak, pulled off a major upset on Saturday, beating previously unbeaten league leaders and former shield holders Marist 1-0 at Marist Park. Cameron Douglas's third-quarter goal and outstanding performances from goalkeeper Gareth Stewart and man-of-the-match Isaac Brydon saw them claim victory and take the shield off their opponents. It marks the first time Southern have held the prestigious shield since 2020. Southern centurion Ben Owers said he was 'stoked' to have the shield back with the club. 'We have a large number of new players with most of them unaware of the shield's history and importance,' he said. 'It was great to see us put in such a good performance against the competition leaders.' Second-place HSOB/Burnside was also upset 5-2 by Avon, while Carlton Redcliffs beat Hornby 2-1 and Harewood thrashed University 12-0. In the women's competition, Harewood retained the Challenge Shield and stayed top of the table thanks to a 9-0 win over University, while HSOB/Burnside (7-1 v Avon), Marist (6-0 v Southern), and Hornby (1-0 v Carlton Redcliffs) had wins. The competitions take a break this weekend due to Matariki. The Falcon flies high at San Francisco whisky competition
PHOTO: ARCHIVE Cardrona Distillery's single malt whisky, The Falcon, has won a double gold medal, with a score of 95 points, at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It is the only New Zealand whisky to achieve double gold this year. The competition is the oldest and largest of its kind and is renowned for setting the industry standard of excellence. A double gold medal is awarded only to spirits that receive unanimous gold ratings from all judges in a blind tasting, placing The Falcon among the world's top single malt whiskies. According to Cardrona Distillery, The Falcon has notes of burnt toffee, vanilla cream, pepper and sun-scorched nectarine. As well as the latest award, The Falcon was awarded two gold medals in two categories at last year's World Whiskies Awards 2024 — New Zealand's Best Small Batch Single Malt and New Zealand's Best Single Malt 12 Years and Under. It also received a five-star review from Yvonne Lorkin and =95 points from master sommelier Cameron Douglas. The Cardrona Distillery opened in 2015.
