In honor of his new book, 'Cudi: The Memoir,' the rapper — whose real name is Scott Mescudi — sat down for an interview with 'CBS Mornings.' The interview was released Wednesday, a little less than three months after Cudi took the stand against Diddy. I didn't want to do it. I got subpoenaed,' the rapper said of being a witness in the Diddy trial. 'It was weird, man, because that was the first time I had seen him in a while. We made eye contact a couple times.' Cudi briefly dated Cassie Ventura, the singer who testified that Diddy had abused, blackmailed and trafficked her during their turbulent, years-long relationship. During his testimony, Cudi alleged that Diddy had been abusive to Cassie and that the music industry mogul broke into his house after he found out he and Cassie were dating. Cudi also told the court he believed Diddy later set his car on fire. After he realized that he would have to testify, Cudi told 'CBS Mornings' that it was the support his testimony would provide Cassie that helped him get through the experience. 'I knew I was helping Cassie. I just wanted to be there and help her out,' he explained. 'I know I did the right thing, so that's all that matters.' The rapper also addressed the backlash he received from some of Diddy's supporters for speaking out against him. 'I had a lot of people that supported me, but there were a few that had some opinions about it,' Cudi acknowledged. 'It was interesting because I'm not no street dude. I don't live by no code, you know? So I guess it's because I'm a rapper. People just threw that on me. But, like, my music has never been about that and I have never tried to pretend I was about that.' In July, Combs' trial ended with him being found not guilty of the federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges against him. He was, however, found guilty of of the prostitution charges against him, each of which carry a maximum potential prison sentence of 10 years. Despite a release motion filed by his defense team, Diddy has been ordered to remain in federal detention until his sentencing hearing, which is scheduled for Oct. 3. In an unexpected development in the Disney Channel Original Movie universe, it seems like Camp Rock 3 may actually be in the works. During the Jonas Brothers' August 12 appearance on Hot Ones Versus, the musicians gave fans a glimpse into their personal lives thanks to challenges within the game. When asked to show the most recent entry on his phone's Notes app, Joe Jonas accidentally pulled a Tom Holland and revealed that a third installment of the beloved DCOM is in its early stages. 'As a songwriter, there is a constant need to document your innermost thoughts and feelings. Read your last Notes app entry out loud,' Nick said off the cue card, to which Joe responded, 'Read Camp Rock 3.' Of course, this prompted an awkward silence between his brothers since they were probably instructed by the House of Mouse to keep news about the movie under wraps. 'Pretty good,' Nick said, as Kevin nervously laughed and chimed in, 'Okay, that's a pretty good one.' Joe seemed unfazed by the move, adding, 'It's the truth. It's literally right here. Sorry, Disney!' His cheeky confirmation comes after their Camp Rock co-star, Demi Lovato, recently performed hits from the first two movies with them during the opening night of their Greetings from Your Hometown Tour at MetLife Stadium on August 10. This also marks the first news about Camp Rock 3 since 2017, when Demi and the JoBros hinted that a potential R-rated version could be on the horizon. It's unlikely that this recent development is related, but at the time, Joe told Marie Claire, 'If it made sense, sure. For all of us—Demi, Nick—it would be funny to do a spin on it. Do the graduating days, make it kinda dark. An adult film. Well, not an adult film. An R-rated film. We've joked around about the idea a couple times.' Shortly after, Demi went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and explained their vision for the third movie in the franchise. 'We want to come out with an R-rated Camp Rock 3,' she said, per Teen Vogue. 'I mean, all of our fans have now grown up, and so anybody that watched Camp Rock is now older and can appreciate it.' Especially after their recent on-stage reunion, we can't wait to see their characters, Mitchie Torres and Connect 3, back on screen. Not to quote our screen queen Ayo Edeberi, but this is pretty much our vibe going forward: 'I'm seated. The theater employees are scared and asking me to I'm simply too seated.'
