Machete-wielding man attacks security guard at Frisco mosque, police say

A security guard was attacked by a man with a machete at a Frisco mosque during prayer on Sunday, June 8, police said. Officers responded at 11 a.m. to the Islamic Center of Frisco at 11137 Frisco St., after reports of a person being stabbed at the location, Frisco police said in a news release. Police said a 911 caller provided a description of the suspect, who was still at- large. Based on that description, the suspect, 26-year-old Malik Davis was taken into custody, police said. The initial investigation by officers found that the victim, who is a uniformed security guard at the mosque, was praying inside when Davis approached him from behind and assaulted the security guard multiple times with a machete, police said. The victim suffered injuries to his head and one of his hands, police said. Police said Davis took possession of the victim's gun but later ditched it before being confronted by officers. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and subsequently released, police said. Davis was transported to the Collin County Jail and faces charges of aggravated assault against a security officer and theft of a firearm with a bond set at $60,000. The mosque resumed regular activities on Sunday evening, according to the statement. 'The investigation into this incident is ongoing, but nothing suggests that this is a hate crime,' Frisco police said in the release. 1 person killed, 5 injured in multi-vehicle crash in northwest Fort Worth, police say

One person died and five people were injured during a multi-vehicle crash in Fort Worth Sunday evening, March 2, police said. Around 5:40 p.m. officers responded to a major accident in the 2000 block of Jacksboro Highway in northwest Fort Worth. When officers arrived on scene the found several vehicles and a pedestrian involved in this accident, police said. One of the individuals involved was taken to an area hospital and was pronounced dead, police said. MedStar confirmed that five others were injured during the pile-up. Police said cause of the accident and other details are still being investigated. Man cut and injured in family violence incident in east Fort Worth, police say

A 28-year-old man was cut and injured Friday night in a family violence incident, Fort Worth police said. A suspect is in custody. Officers responded to the 5100 block of East Lancaster Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28. They found a person who had been cut, according to police. The injured man was taken to a hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. The suspect was apparently injured as well, and was also taken to a hospital. He's expected to survive, according to police. Jail records list the suspect as 28-year-old Bilic Hernandez Flores. He faces a charge of aggravated assault against a family member. Family violence detectives were notified about the incident, police said. 3 injured by broken glass in bar fight at Fort Worth Stockyards, police say

Three people were injured early Saturday during a bar fight at the Fort Worth Stockyards, officials said. Officers responded to the area around 2:10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, after a 911 caller reported a fight at PR's Saloon and said they were bleeding, according to the police call log. The responding officers found three people who had been cut by broken glass. 'It is currently believed a large fight occurred which resulted in the injuries,' police said. Two people were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The third person was treated and released at the scene, according to police.
