Quebec's police watchdog (BEI) is investigating after someone was shot in a student dorm by a Montreal police (SPVM) officer Saturday morning.
The police shooting happened around 8:25 a.m. in the Rosemont area.
Police say officers initially visited the Campus Rosemont student residence on Bellechasse Street near 16th Avenue to investigate a reported stabbing.
The events leading to the shooting are still unclear and investigators refused to provide details. The victim is believed to be a student and is expected to survive.
Police say the residence was evacuated.
Two students, who did not want to be identified, told CTV News police refused to let them enter the residence when they were returning to the dorm after a night out. They say they did not receive any formal notice from the school.
Bellechasse Street has been closed between 13th and 16th Avenue.
