Piper Perabo celebrates 25 years of 'Coyote Ugly' with throwback photo
Piper Perabo is celebrating the 25th anniversary of " Coyote Ugly." The actress took to Instagram and shared a series of stills from the film, including a group shot with her, Bridget Moynahan, Tyra Banks, Isabella Miko and Maria Bello. "25 years ago today #CoyoteUgly opened in theaters," she wrote. "Sending love to everyone who ever danced on a bar, followed their dreams, or just likes a wild song." She also shared photos with Melanie Lynskey and Leanne Rimes, who sings the film's anthem, "Can't Fight The Moonlight," which was penned by Dianne Warren. Perabo portrayed Violet Sanford in the hit 2000 film, an aspiring songwriter who moves to New York and works at the Coyote Ugly bar. The film also starred Adam Garcia and John Goodman. At San Diego Comic-Con last month, Perabo told The Hollywood Reporter that "there has been some discussion" about a "Coyote Ugly" sequel. "Some things are being discussed," she said. "I can't really say, but people that were doing it are talking about some stuff."

Coyote Ugly founder was ‘driven nuts' by one detail in iconic 00s rom-com
As Coyote Ugly celebrates its 25-year anniversary, the founder of the infamous bar lifted the lid on some wild New York nights, and what the classic rom-com got right. On August 4, 2000, our lives were changed when the movie hit the big screen, following Piper Perabo's budding songwriter Violet Sanford as she moved to New York with dreams of hitting the big time. Unfortunately, her plans didn't quite work out and she stumbled across Coyote Ugly, a popular venue in the Big Apple where she landed a job behind the bar and danced on top of it, to help overcome her stage fright. Yellowjackets favorite Melanie Lynskey, Tyra Banks, Bridget Moynahan, Maria Bello, Adam Garcia and John Goodman also made up the cast, while LeAnn Rimes made a cameo at the end to belt out her iconic hit, Can't Fight The Moonlight, from the soundtrack. What may surprise many to learn is that the venue is actually a real, functioning place where staff and customers can let loose on the bar, and have a ridiculously fun night out. Liliana 'Lil' Lovell opened the doors to the East Village saloon at the age of 25, on January 27, 1993 – although she had an inkling that it would be a successful venture, there was no telling that it would grow into a huge chain with locations around the world and a star-studded flick. She began bartending when she was at university and it wasn't long before she gained notoriety for her antics behind the bar, which led to her very own venture in NYC, and eventually spawned a string of others around the world – there are five Coyote Ugly locations in the UK alone. Previously speaking to Metro to celebrate the OG bar's 30th birthday, she touched on where the idea came from, telling us: 'That was my bartending style, so when I opened Coyote, it was just very natural to me to get on the bar. 'Some of it, honestly, probably is because I'm short! If it was crowded further back in the room, I would stand on the bar to get their attention. 'I'm not a good dancer but I was very good at having people have a good time. That's how I worked, and then as I started hiring more women, they all had something. You have a singer, you have a good dancer, you have somebody who is just quirky and funny, and it all just worked.' The bar hit a level of success when Hollywood came calling, thanks to a GQ article written by former bartender Elizabeth Gilbert, who shed light on her unique experience as a Coyote. Spilling the beans on the film, the founder – portrayed by Maria Bello – explained that they didn't get everything quite right in front of the camera. 'That was a fictionalized script,' she continued. 'They would call me to ask me, 'Hey, any fun bar antics we could put in?' But the character, that love story, was all fictional. They were writing that themselves. 'The things that bugged me are one, never in a million years would I buy the whole bar a round. Never! 'And then at the end, my character closes the whole bar down just to go see her play. Who the f**k in their right mind would do that? Nobody. 'It's so funny, because I'm very proud that the movie came out and obviously it helped me expand my business. But little things like that drive me nuts.' 'Personally, for me, it's been weird because I fancy myself a businessperson,' she said of the reaction from fans. 'So when, all of a sudden, people are coming and asking if they can get their picture taken with you or your autograph… It's still, to this day, weird for me. 'I've had to tweak that and realize this made a big impact on their lives, they love the movie. So I have to tell myself, I have a responsibility to make sure people are having a good time. I'm proud that they love Coyote Ugly, but it was weird for me.' It has been 32 years since Lil took a chance on herself and the businesswoman has shown no signs of backing down. In fact, there are around 20 locations now, and the chain returned to screens recently when the Real Housewives of Atlanta stars got to grips with the bar during a trip to Nashville, in the current season of the Bravo show. One of the things she credits for her accomplishments so far is the familial 'culture' that she implemented from the second people walk through the doors – but that's not to say that things haven't been raunchy, as she laughed: 'I've got a lot of wild stories. I've had a lot of sex in my bars.' More Trending However, the most important aspect for Lil is that everyone simply just enjoys themselves, as she added: 'The biggest thing for me is that everybody has a good time at Coyote Ugly. 'I don't care what walk of life you're in. It always made me proud that it doesn't matter. You can come in by yourself and stay for four hours, and have a ball and meet people. 'I love that it's wild, but still like Cheers, too!' This article was originally published on January 29, 2023. Got a story? LeAnn Rimes addresses 'craziness' of Eddie Cibrian affair: 'This is not all my pain'
LeAnn Rimes is addressing an infamous elephant in the room: her affair with actor, and now-husband, Eddie Cibrian. In an interview with Flow Space, Rimes recounted the fallout from the affair, which began on set of the 2009 Lifetime movie "Northern Lights," when the pair fell for each other although they were both married to other people. "I realized very quickly that there are a lot of women who've been hurt. Like, I've been on both sides of that coin – I've been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling," Rimes said. "But so many women don't know what to do with that anger. … I was a target that was just easily projected upon." LeAnn Rimes says she 'panicked' after teeth fell out onstage At the time, Cibrian was married to "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum Brandi Glanville while Rimes was married to celebrated chef Dean Sheremet. Cibrian and Glanville share two sons, Mason and Jake. Rimes said that "once I realized that, things got a lot easier. Instead of taking it so personally, it's like, look: This is not all my pain to carry." She added that "I know what I'm responsible for in the situation and making amends for that. But you know, the world's pain is not mine to carry, and I think that really got thrown at me for a long time." Glanville spoke openly about the end of her marriage on Bravo's "RHOBH." The "Can't Fight The Moonlight" singer and former child star also referred to the emotional work she had to do after facing harsh media coverage, from tabloid fodder to internet furor towards the pair, during "all of the craziness we went through." 'Starting as a child star (I had) all this protection," Rimes points out. "But it was like, if I want to live a fulfilling life, I've got to learn how to let that guard down. To me, it was either I was going to die, or I had to confront it. It was complete survival." These days though, Rimes has gotten better with age: "You cannot pay me to go back to my 20s – just, no thank you. I'll take the wrinkles," telling Flow Space that "I felt very alone in this world for a long time. I don't necessarily feel that way anymore, … I don't feel like I'm ever in hiding."

LeAnn Rimes reveals years of dental struggles after veneers mishap during live show
LeAnn Rimes suffered with "chronic pain" for years due to poor dental treatment. The 42-year-old singer - who made headlines last month when her dental veneers fell out during mid-song during a concert - first had them at around the age of 16, before another dentist didn't bond the veneers correctly while redoing them at a later stage, which resulted in years of oral surgeries and multiple root canals. Speaking to Flow Space magazine, she said: "I look at my pictures from that time, and my face was so different — it was just so swollen. 'Oh, it was awful. I was in chronic pain for, like, two-and-a-half years.' The Can't Fight The Moonlight singer previously revealed to her fans that she was diagnosed with high-grade dysplasia last year. The discovery was made when a routine Pap smear after a routine Pap smear found pre-cancerous cells in her cervix. She decided to be candid with her social media followers to try and encourage a more honest conversation about female health. She added: 'I just feel like it's not something we talk about, and something so many women feel so much shame around. Meanwhile, LeAnn has also sought to get rid of the stigma around perimenopause, having first experience her own symptoms in her late 30s. The star - who takes hormone replacement therapy (HRT) - revealed: "I thought I was crazy for about two years. I was waking up at 3 a.m. all the time, and having really, really heavy anxiety.' After speaking to The Menopause Reset author and chiropractic doctor Mindy Pelz, she was encouraged to speak to her husband Eddie Cibrian about the issue. LeAnn revealled: 'She was like, 'Look, I've seen marriages literally implode over this… because no one really explains it to [men].' 'She was always telling me, 'If you're feeling something, express it to him.' And I do; I'm really vocal about it.' Eddie, 52, admitted to the outlet in an email that he is "one of the lucky ones" because of how frank his wife is about any issues. He said: 'She really committed to learning and seeking out help early on. 'We were never in a position wondering why these things were happening. We knew the why, which is a huge step for most couples.'
