Flights canceled out of MHT amid tragedy in D.C.
Jan. 30—All American Airlines regional passenger jet flights between Reagan Washington National Airport and the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport have been canceled into Friday morning after a plane collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter Wednesday night and crashed into the Potomac River. American Airlines said 60 passengers and four crew members were aboard the Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft between Wichita, Kansas, and D.C. The helicopter had three soldiers conducting a training exercise. The plane was operated by PSA Airlines, which operates 500 daily flights for American Airlines, with regional flights out of MHT. In all, Manchester saw five American Airlines arrivals and four departures to Reagan Washington National Airport canceled on Wednesday night into Thursday, according to One departure has been canceled for 5:36 a.m. Friday, according to the airport's schedule. "My thoughts are with the families of the passengers and crew of the flight as well as servicemembers in the Army helicopter. Thank you to the first responders for working through the night," she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. An American flight from Reagan Washington National Airport is expected to land at MHT at 11:57 a.m. Friday. Flights scheduled to depart at 12:23 p.m., 2:54 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. from MHT on Friday are still listed as "on time" on the website. PSA Airlines operates the Canadair Regional Jet CRJ-700 out of Manchester. The plane can hold up to 78 passengers, but the number of seats depends on the layout. A flight by the airline from Charlotte Douglas International Airport scheduled to land at 12:43 a.m. in Manchester was canceled. A flight returning to Charlotte at 5:34 a.m. was also canceled, according to the airport. Those are CRJ-900 planes.
