Here are 10 cool photos of the Gordie Howe bridge — Now let's see yours
When it will open is still in question.
But it's already changed the skyline and landscape of Windsor, Ont., and Detroit, Mich.
The Gordie Howe International Bridge can be seen from kilometres away, and depending on your viewpoint it can sometimes appear to be a completely different structure.
A recent report says the span might not open until sometime in 2026, however, the Canadian authority overseeing its construction and operation says it's too early to offer a specific date on when cars, trucks, bicycles and pedestrians will be allowed to cross.
Shovels hit the ground on the project in the summer of 2018. It was originally slated to be open by the end of 2024. That was since pushed back until the fall of 2025 — a timeline which also now remains uncertain.
What people can do in the meantime, however, is continue to marvel at its size and modern design of the cable-stayed crossing.
The CBC's Michael Evans has compiled his top 10 photos from across the Windsor-area showing the bridge from a variety of vantage points in August 2025.
