Drake cancels his concert at Manchester's Co-op Live arena due to 'travel logistics' after disappointing fans at Wireless festival

Drake has cancelled his live gig at Manchester's Co-op Live arena due to 'travel logistics and unforeseen ferry schedule'. The Canadian singer, 38, was set to perform at the iconic venue on Monday amid his Some Special Shows 4 U tour. The Ten Bands hitmaker's performance has now been rescheduled for August 5, with organisers ensuring 'all tickets remain valid for the new date'. A statement on the arena's website read: 'Due to unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics, tomorrow's performance in Manchester on July 28th has been rescheduled.' It added: 'The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5th, and it's set to be an unforgettable night.' The RnB star had already played two shows in the city on Friday and Saturday, while he will be soon back on stage for another gig at the arena on August 4. MailOnline has contacted Drake's representatives for a comment. His unexpected news comes after the Headlines rapper took to the stage of the legendary Wireless festival in London earlier this month. He reportedly threw a star-studded party on Saturday night following his second day performing leaving him 'looking tired' for his final set on Sunday. Drake disappointed fans after only appearing on stage for 40 minutes during his final performance at the festival. Eventually The Sun claimed that Drake 'probably needed some extra sleep' after partying until 6am at Mr Porter in Mayfair. There were loads of celebs in attendance, including Casey Affleck, Sacha Baron Cohen, and OnlyFans star Lily Phillips. A source told the publication: 'After his back-to-back shows on Friday and Saturday, Drake had a party. 'He hired out Mr Porter in Mayfair and was seen arriving around midnight. 'The party went on all through the early hours of Sunday morning, with Drake finally heading home not long before 6am. 'Drake looked a bit tired when he came out with some of his entourage.' It comes after his three-day Wireless Festival residency ended in complete chaos as thousands of fans blasted the festival as 'dangerous' when they were forced to queue for hours and in huge crowds of people. As the rapper appeared on stage 10 minutes early, thousands of British festival goers were left 'disappointed' as they failed to enter London's Finsbury Park for the show. In videos shared on TikTok , festival goers were stood shoulder-to-shoulder pleading with security to let them in because they had tickets for the day. However, it wasn't just general admission that was facing large queues, as VIP guests told MailOnline that they had been forced to wait up to 'three hours' by security before coming to the conclusion they were not going to be let in and headed home. One guest attempting to get in said: 'We arrived at the guest/VIP entrance to the festival at 5:30pm and the queue was massive, but we joined and hoped it would go down quick. We ended up waiting for over two hours and we still weren't in the festival. 'When I asked security what was going on and if we would even get in for Drake coming on stage they said they couldn't give us a time, but said it would be at least another half an hour. 'Everyone was starting to get angry, and people were just pushing past the security. It felt dangerous and so we decided it was better to leave, meaning we didn't even get to see inside the festival. 'It was so disappointing that the festival had invited all these people down and then treated us like that. No staff members were willing to come out and speak to us to help the situation.'

Ontario country singer Josh Ross apologizes, but stands ground, after calling U.S. ‘the best' country

Josh Ross poses for photos after winning Country Album of the Year during the Juno Awards in Vancouver, B.C., Sunday, March 30, 2025. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck Canadian country singer Josh Ross is apologizing after he drew jeers on social media for carrying a U.S. flag onstage at a music festival and calling the country the 'best' in the world. Ross posted a statement to TikTok on Monday afternoon saying he's 'sorry to anybody who's offended' by his comments, adding that he felt the video gaining attention was taken out of context. The Burlington, Ont., native faced scrutiny after footage posted on social media showed a brief clip of his set at the Tailgate N' Tallboys festival on June 13 in Bloomington, Ind., just weeks before he's set to perform Ottawa's Canada Day celebrations. In the video, Ross, who lives in Nashville, takes a moment to address his citizenship. 'Fun fact, real quick. I'm Canadian,' he says, gripping a flagpole in his hand. 'You want to know the best fun fact is I moved to the best ... country in the world and I love it very much.' Another video posted on Instagram showed the crowd chanting 'U.S.A! U.S.A!' and passing the flag to Ross. His comments drew criticism from some online commenters who said the pro-American stance ran against the 'Elbows Up' movement and the ongoing political conflict with U.S. president Donald Trump. 'I feel like I'm always representing Canada no matter where I go,' Ross said in his response, which was recorded from his vehicle in Nashville. 'Born and raised in Canada, but I've been living in Nashville for the last five plus years. Half my family lives in Canada, the other half is here in the U.S., and I'm as proud of establishing myself in the U.S. as I am being Canadian.' 'Both sides were not communicated in the clip that you guys are seeing and I'm sorry that that wasn't clear,' he added. The singer, who recently released 'Drunk Right Now (Na Na Na)' with Akon, is booked as one of the performers at Heritage Canada's Canada Day event in Ottawa. Organizers did not respond to requests for comment. Earlier this year at the Juno Awards, Ross seemed to take a political middle ground that was out of step with many of his fellow Canadians at the overtly patriotic show. While accepting the Juno win for country album of the year in March, he said he was proud of being Canadian, but suggested it was on his fellow citizens to find common ground with the U.S. 'I think it's time to get back to our Canadian roots and remember that friends are better than enemies,' he said. This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 23, 2025.
