Williamsburg principal named 2025 Outstanding Middle School Principal of Virginia
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals (VASSP) names Candice Welch as this year's Outstanding Middle School Principal of Virginia.
'Candice Welch's leadership reflects the York County School Division's commitment to ensuring every student is valued, supported, and challenged' says York County School Division Superintendent, Dr. Victor Shandor, in a release.
Welch is the current principal of Queens Lake Middle School. Holding more than 16 years of education experience, she has spent her career creating high-quality instruction, strong partnerships and opportunities for both students and staff, a release states.
'Her dedication to student achievement, school climate, and family engagement has made a lasting impact at Queens Lake Middle School. We are proud of her achievement and appreciate her efforts in shaping future-ready graduates' says Dr. Shandor, in a release.
Welch is set to be honored at the 2025 Virginia Middle and High School Principals Conference on June 23-26. Additionally, Welch is also set to represent Virginia at the 2025 National Principals Conference on July 11-13.
