Capital Breakfast host Jordan North shocks fans as he reveals painful-looking and swollen eye
Jordan North looked almost unrecognisable as he revealed his painful-looking stye on Capital Radio's Instagram Story on Tuesday. In a new clip, the Capital Breakfast host, 35, showed off his rather red and swollen eye to the camera. According to the Mayo Clinic, a stye is a red, painful lump near the edge of your eyelid that may look like a boil or a pimple. A stye usually forms on the outside of your eyelid, but sometimes it can form on the inner part of your eyelid. In most cases, a stye will begin to disappear on its own in a couple of days. The Radio show's social media team took to their Instagram story to share another close-up, jokingly mocking the star's 'new look', and asked followers to help them 'name the stye'. They captioned the hilarious post: 'The beautiful @Jordannorth1 has a "face for radio this morning" Meet " Harry STYles". They proceeded to share several funny puns, including: 'Live and let STYE', 'Steak and ale STYE', 'Stye with a smile', 'Stya Jama', 'Jordan and the pink eye peas', 'STYE Richie'. Fans also jumped on the bandwagon and began sharing their creative puns with the hit music station. It's been an action packed week on the breakfast show, with Jess Glynne finally meeting the Jet2 holiday voiceover star Zoe Lister on the programme after their aeroplane advert became the latest trend on TikTok. Their viral sound has been all over social media this summer - with users adding the soundtrack over clips of travel fails - and while their advert has become a favourite for influencers, Jess, 35, and Zoe, 43, had never officially met. Now the duo have given their fans what they wanted as they recreated the advert live in the Capital Breakfast studio. Speaking with Jordan and Chris Stark on their morning show, Zoe revealed that she has developed such a close bond with the singer that she feels she is 'in her band'. Referring to the song, Jordan said: 'It genuinely is a banger. You go in any club, and it sounds so good.' To which Chris said: 'But it's wild how you always hear that song whenever you go on a plane, and then it's in the advert. The Radio show's social media team took to their Instagram story to share another close-up, jokingly mocking the star's 'new look', and asked followers to help them 'name the stye' 'And then, for reasons no one really understands, this summer, it just exploded on TikTok. Has it surprised you how massive this has all gone?' Jess replied: 'Yeah, it's a massive surprise, one hundred per cent. It's the most amazing thing to see, though. 'It's mad because I feel like when I do my gigs, I feel like when I go to sing the hook, I feel like they're waiting for me to go ''nothing beats a Jet 2 holiday''. It is tempting, but I need to take this seriously, it can't be a joke.' Chris replied: 'Well, we want to make this moment happen, Jess. I'm not going to lie, we want to do something very special this morning. 'The whole of the UK is so excited about this. I've had so many messages over the weekend. So, we've not just invited you guys. 'Obviously Rudimental are here, Jess Glynne you're here, we've also invited the voice of the Jet 2 holiday advert. She's here, please welcome to the show, Zoe! To which Zoe quipped: 'We're bonded, I feel like I'm basically in your band now. To finish the conversation, Chris said: 'The dream here is getting you guys to do the sound, that everyone is hearing, live together!' It took a while for people to realise that the voice behind the viral - and widely spoofed - Jet2Holidays advert belongs to the British soap actress. The UK-based organisation's ad, which features popstar Jess's 'Hold My Hand', shows a family of four enjoying a fun-filled holiday abroad while the voiceover skips through the offers and discounts available. The high-energy voice that viewers hear throughout the 30-second 'Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' ad has become almost as distinctive as Glynne's UK chart-topping track - but until recently, people had no idea that it belonged to ex-Hollyoaks actress Zoë. Zoe played Zoe Carpenter in the Channel 4 show between 2006 and 2010, making a brief return in April 2017. A writer as well as a performer, mother-of-two Zoe has also contributed to 56 episodes of the soap, which marked its 30th anniversary this year. Other past acting jobs include roles in Midsomer Murders, Crime Stories and Staff Room. According to her management company, Harvey Voice's website, she has been the voice of Jet2Holidays for four years. Yet, it was only relatively recently that the mother-of-two revealed herself as the voice of the ad on TikTok, much to fans' delight.

Duchess Sophie's dad had hilarious response when he heard she was dating Prince Edward
It's not every day that you hear you're about to get the Queen of England as an in-law, so Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh's dad was suitably flabbergasted when he heard the news Although she can trace her family line back to King Henry IV of England, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh enjoyed a solidly upper-middle class upbringing in in Brenchley, Kent. Her father, Christopher Bournes Rhys-Jones, enjoyed outdoor life, and was a keen hunter and fisherman. He was also, says author Sean Smith, keen on 'the indoor pursuit of a good gin and tonic, which had always been de rigueur in Brenchley society.' He normally waited until well into the afternoon for a tipple, but there was one exception, Sean notes in his new book, Sophie: Saving the Royal Family. The writer revealed: 'When Sophie dropped the bombshell that she was going out with Prince Edward, her father memorably remarked, 'It was the first time in my life that I needed a gin and tonic before ten o'clock'." Christopher and his wife Mary quickly became popular figures in the little Kent village. One of their friends, local farmer Michael Noakes, said: "We always tease people that you have to be here for twenty-five years before you are accepted. But this is not so. If you mix easily you are accepted straight away. Christopher and Mary were popular pretty early on.' Sophie inherited their easygoing natures, a characteristic that served her well when, after finishing her studies at West Kent College, Tonbridge, she embarked on a career in PR. She worked for a number of companies, including four years at Capital Radio. It was while she was with the station, travelling to a roadshow trip to Spain, that a playful photograph was taken showing Sophie with her bikini undone as she sat next to DJ, and later Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? presenter, Chris Tarrant. After it was announced that Sophie was engaged to Prince Edward, a colleague of Tarrant's tried to sell the photo to the press, reportedly demanding £100,000 for it. After the snap was published in The Sun newspaper, Buckingham Palace described it as "premeditated cruelty" and made a formal complaint to the Press Complaints Commission. An outraged Chris Tarrant, responding to insinuations that he'd had an affair with Sophie Rhys-Jones, as she then was, told his listeners: "There was never, ever the slightest hint of romance between Sophie and myself, let alone these snidey insinuations. 'Nobody dares stand up and say it outright because it would be actionable. I, of course, am taking legal action today. I have seen my solicitors, I have already spoken to them before this programme at 6am this morning.' Describing himself as 'sickened' by the intrusion, Tarrant added: "Leave Sophie alone. Stop trying to dig dirt up because you won't find any. Edward and Sophie are getting married, they are a happy young couple in love. They haven't done any harm to anybody and there are no skeletons in the cupboard. 'Stop trying to destroy them before they have started their life together - haven't you learnt anything from the death of Princess Diana?' The person who took that fateful photo ended up losing their job, and having to leave the country, as a result. Radio presenter Kara Noble, who had worked at capital alongside Chris Tarrant, later said: "I realise I made the biggest mistake and the most public mistake one could ever make. If I'd guessed the outcome there is no way I would have allowed it to happen," she admitted. Following the scandal, Nobel was sacked as co-host of Heart 106.2FM's breakfast show, and left for California, where she pursued a career as a voiceover artist.

Radio star reveals hotel ‘thought she was a sex worker' before major Hollywood interview
Capital Radio host Sian Welby has revealed she was mistaken for a sex worker while trying to do an interview with the stars of Jurassic World: Rebirth. Speaking on the latest episode of the Capital Breakfast: After the Show Show! podcast, the 38-year-old shared how staff at the Corinthia hotel 'panicked' when she showed up in a 'smart outfit'… clutching knee-high, sequin-covered silver boots that looked like they'd just moonwalked off the set of Kinky Boots. 'A couple of weeks ago, it was the big Jurassic World release,' Sian began, setting the scene. 'I had gone and done an interview after the Summertime Ball that Monday . And you know, we were all in a bit of a state on the Monday, weren't we?' Undeterred by the post-ball hangover haze, Sian powered on: 'I couldn't cancel this interview because it was quite a big interview. It was with Jonathan Bailey, Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, who were all the massive stars from that film.' 'Luckily, because we go to work so early, I still didn't have to check out of the hotel we stayed the night in,' she explained. 'So after the [radio] show, I went in and I had a shower and I got myself ready for this interview. So I dressed myself all smart, but then I had to repack the bag with all my costume in and whatever. And the thing that didn't fit in were my shiny silver sequin boots.' She continued, laughing: 'This interview is in one of the poshest hotels in London, the Corinthia,' Sian said. 'I've got a suitcase and some shiny stripper boots, right? I'm in reception. 'It literally looks like the hooker's arrived. It's Pretty Woman. I literally look like they panicked when I walked in and they were trying to get me out of the way because I was bringing down the whole place.' Jordan North, clearly floored, asked: 'They thought you were a sex worker?' 'Definitely, 100 per cent,' Sian replied. 'It was literally like, 'Right, who's she here for? Get her away, get her out of plain sight!'' To be fair, it probably didn't help that the boots were essentially Studio 54 in footwear form. Chris Stark chimed in: 'Do you think it was the boots?' 'It was, of course,' Sian confirmed. 'I'm talking sequin shiny knee-high boots in my hand and a suitcase.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Sensing she might be slightly out of place, she tried to sit in the hotel foyer to prep – but the staff had other ideas. 'They were panicking going, 'Oh God, how do we get rid of this?'' she said. 'They couldn't obviously say what they were thinking, but they didn't want me in the foyer because of the boots and the thing. 'They were trying to hide me, and they pushed me to a… they were like, 'You could sit here,' and it was like a table hidden in a corner behind a pillar.' More Trending It didn't end there. 'Then after I was writing my notes, they were like, 'I'm sorry, we're about to have the guests in now.' And they were basically like, 'Can you move?'' She was then hilariously ushered away just in time for Scarlett Johansson and co. to glide in without tripping over a rogue glitter boot. Ultimately, the misunderstanding was resolved and the interview proceeded as planned, but Sian certainly learned her lesson about using a suitcase big enough to fit her thigh-high boots next time. It is unclear where the actor died or his cause of death. Gerald is best known for starring as the lead role in the adventure drama Adam Adamant Lives! and then as the main character in Hadleigh. Following his TV career, he returned to his main passion in theatre. His classical work includes playing on Broadway with the Old Vic company, playing Iago at the Bristol Old Vic and Benedick at the Chichester Festival Theatre. Gerald forged an illustrious career on the stage, featuring in various West End shows, including Crucifer of Blood and A Personal Affair at the Haymarket Theatre. Gerald was in his early 70s when Sarah, then aged around 30, became lovers. Sarah was at the height of her own fame at the time, as she was a regular in sitcom Coupling. A passer-by told the Sunday People of Gerald and Sarah at the time: "They were super-glued together! They were all over each other and didn't care who saw them. Capital FM DJ Aimee Vivian rushed to hospital with serious illness just weeks after giving birth to baby girl
Capital Radio's Aimee Vivian has been rushed to hospital with a serious illness just weeks after giving birth to a baby girl. The DJ, 37, announced she'd welcomed her first child, a baby girl with husband Steve Carter on June 15 but was hospitalised this week after contracting sepsis. In a health update uploaded to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, she said there was 'still a lot of unanswered questions' and shared her heartbreak at not being able to see her newborn, Charli. Aimee wrote: 'Thank you all for you kind messages. Little update, I am still in hospital after being admitted on Sunday and developing sepsis. 'There's still a lot of unanswered questions and things to get a hold on, so when I can I'll be more open and I'll be looking into working with mastitis charities to spread awareness on it. 'We know how underfunded women's health is, but seriously things have got to change.' She continued: 'If men produced milk, pushing through the pain of a blocked duct, mastitis etc wouldn't be a thing. If anyone works for/knows charities or companies, let me know as I'd love to touch base once this is all over. 'Not being with your baby in the first month of their life is the most unnatural and abnormal thing. 'Literally count down the minutes in the morning till she gets here and dread her leaving at night. But focusing all my energy on getting better for her.' She concluded: 'Lastly to my superhuman husband, thank you. Without you, I would have broken.' Sepsis, also referred to as blood poisoning or septicaemia, is a potentially life-threatening condition, triggered by an infection or injury. A patient can rapidly deteriorate if it is missed early on, so quick diagnosis and treatment is vital – yet this rarely happens. In the early stages, sepsis can be mistaken for a chest infection, flu or upset stomach. It is most common and dangerous in older adults, pregnant women, children younger than one, people with chronic conditions or those who have weakened immune systems. Aimee announced she'd welcomed her first child last month after fans spotted her missing from the annual Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium. She shared a gorgeous snap of herself cradling the tot who was wrapped in a blanket stitched with her name 'Charli' and penned: 'Charli Carter. The girl who stole my heart forever'. Hours earlier Aimee also posted a throwback from last year's Summertime Ball and said: 'Wishing my @capitalofficial & all of you an amazing Summertime ball day' 'Sad to miss it but as you might of guessed by my silence on here, our new little addition has arrived so we have very much been in our newborn love bubble'. She continued: 'Swapping backstage at Wembley for watching on YouTube with milk in one hand and a nappy in the other this year. Update on baby soon'. Aimee Vivian has been a DJ at Capital FM since 2015, hosting the afternoon show from Monday to Saturday.
