Popular Airdrie restaurant Guidi's on the way back after being destroyed by devastating fire four years ago

Potato firm Albert Bartlett will be rebuilding the restaurant and site will introduce a new Capocci Man gelateria and deli, serving ice cream, milkshakes and more. A popular Airdrie restaurant destroyed by a devastating fire four years ago is on the way back - with an extra tasty treat. Following months of planning, ground has been broken on the rebuild of the new Guidi's at its site on Deedes Street. ‌ Founded in 1983, Italian eatery Guidi's was more than just a place to eat, it was a place where "friends and families created memories, was home to many celebrations and warmly welcomed locals and visitors". ‌ The fire in 2021 was a "devastating moment" for the family business, however the "overwhelming support" of its loyal customers, neighbours and family friends has driven the "desire to return to the heart of the local community". Potato firm Albert Bartlett, which has its headquarters in Airdrie, has purchased the land and will be rebuilding the restaurant, which will include a new Capocci Man gelateria and deli. Now as months of planning move into physical progress on the site, the Guidi's team are "extremely excited" to see the new vision take shape in the months ahead. The new Guidi's - due for completion next year - will blend fresh Mediterranean-inspired design with "the warmth, values and hospitality you've always known the restaurant for". Ricardo Guidi said: "After many months of hard work and planning, I am excited to see activity underway on the new Guidi's. ‌ "A huge thank you to goes to the local community for all of their support and encouragement. "We can't wait to welcome customers back in 2026 to a space filled with exposed brickwork, timber beams and the familiar aromas of our traditional Italian recipes, prepared with the same passion and care that's been our hallmark since 1983; we look forward to making new memories together.' ‌ Guidi's are also "delighted" to announce the site will introduce a new Capocci Man gelateria and deli, serving ice cream, milkshakes and more from The Capocci Man, another of Airdrie's iconic Italian institutions. Ernest Capocci said: 'Ensuring the Capocci brand continues to be enjoyed by future generations of local people is deeply important to me. ‌ "I am, therefore, excited to see the plans for the new development. "The timing is particularly special as it will come to life in 2026 when The Capocci Man celebrates 100 years of serving the Lanarkshire community. I can't wait to see it all coming together.' *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire. Sign up to our newsletters here.
