While it was certainty a team effort with 10 of 11 sectors higher, gold stocks were one of the core drivers of gains today. Energy and discretionary also put in some hard yards, rising more than 1% each. The only laggard was utilities, down 0.06%. Too bad for our infrastructure stocks, no participation trophies will be handed out today. Taking the crown for market movers was gold stock Northern Star (ASX:NST) which climbed 4.9%. Newmont Corp (ASX:NEM) also added 2% and Capricorn Metals (ASX:CMM) 5.2%. A little further down the totem pole, Perseus Mining (ASX:PRU) lifted 2.6% and Ramelius Resources (ASX:RMS) 3.7%. While gold prices haven't appreciated much in recent weeks, the demand paradigm for the precious metal continues to improve as US markets anticipate an interest rate cut next month. There was also some strong movement in energy stocks. Beetaloo Energy Australia (ASX:BTL) added 8%, Strike Energy (ASX:STX) 9% and Coronado Global Resources (ASX:CRN) 7.9%. BMG Resources (ASX:BMG) is gearing up for a scoping study at the Abercromby gold project in WA, drumming up commitments to raise $600,000 in a share placement at 0.8 cents a share. Lindian Resources (ASX:LIN) and fellow rare earth stock Iluka Resources (ASX:ILU) have shaken hands over a 15-year strategic rare earth offtake deal. Infomedia (ASX:IFM) moved strongly higher today after an embarrassing blunder by the ASX itself drew wide attention to a takeover offer from private firm TPG Capital. The ASX mistakenly announced publicly-listed TPG Telecom (ASX:TPG) had made the takeover offer, subsequently scrambling to place the stock in a trading halt and unwind the morning's trades once the error was identified. IFM has entered into a scheme of arrangement with TPG Capital, wherein Infomedia shareholders will receive $1.72 per share in cash, a hefty 41% premium to the share's 3-month VWAP. Gold Digger: Producers are in the money as gold prices remain in the stratosphere

Gold producers report strong results thanks to high gold prices Prices remain elevated with potential for more gains Capricorn reported record quarterly cash flow of $85.7m in June 2025 quarter Strong US economic may have tamped some of the excitement around gold but giant Canadian global asset manager Fidelity believes the precious metal could be testing the US$4000/oz mark by the end of this year. This scenario could play out if the Federal Reserve begins to cut rates and the US dollar continues to decline. For ASX gold players, though, what's important is that gold soared in the first four months of this year and have remained elevated within a relatively narrow band since then, a point that has proven beneficial to the bottom lines of the producers while giving certainty to the explorers. A case in point is Capricorn Metals (ASX:CMM), which generated a record quarterly cash flow of $85.7m in the June 2025 quarter, up from $80.8m in the previous quarter. This was due in part to increased gold production from its Karlawinda project, which poured 32,216oz of gold at an all-in-sustaining cost of$1381/oz – representing improvements from last quarter's output of 30,599oz gold at an AISC of $1390/oz. Material movement increased by 18% from the March 2025 quarter, reflecting the ongoing mining productivity efforts that delivered the increase in mining volumes throughout FY2025. For the current financial year, Capricorn expects to produce between 115,000 and 125,000oz of gold at AISC of $1530-1630/oz with growth capital of $30-40m as mining transitions to the Karlawinda expansion project following approval from WA's Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. Full procurement and early site works will commence in the December 2025 quarter. Meanwhile, Ramelius Resources (ASX:RMS) delivered underlying free cash flow of $207.8m during the June 2025 quarter from production of 73,454 ounces gold at an AISC of $1339/oz, well above its guidance of 62,000-72,000 ounce. The company, which has just finished gobbling up Spartan Resources by way of a scheme of arrangement, also noted a sector-leading AISC margin of $3103/oz for the quarter thanks in no small part to the gold price. It wasn't content with just these achievements, though. Ramelius also announced record annual gold production of 301,664oz at an AISC of $1551/oz, exceeding its upgraded production guidance range of 290,000-300,000oz and the bottom of the upgraded AISC guidance range of $1550-1650/oz. For this financial year, the company expects to spend between $80-100m, up from $47.1m in FY2025, to aggressively target high-grade opportunities at the new enlarged Mt Magnet hub. High gold prices also proved to be a boon for Perseus Mining (ASX:PRU), which saw nominal cash flow of $189m from the sale of 131,242oz of gold at an average sale price of US$2977/oz ($4625.60). This offset the increase in AISC from US$1290/oz in the March 2025 quarter up to US$1417/oz in the June 2025 quarter. Perseus adds that for FY2026, it expects to produce between 400,000 and 440,000 ounces of gold at an AISC range of US$1460-1620/oz. Explorers making waves Sunstone Metals (ASX:STM) has seen strong interest on the market since noting in its quarterly that due diligence and discussions with several parties are continuing. These activities cover a range of potential outcomes, including corporate transactions and farm-out agreements on either or both of Bramaderos and El Palmar gold-copper projects in southern and northern Ecuador. Meanwhile, Askari Metals (ASX:AS2) launched regional exploration at its Nejo gold and copper project in Ethiopia to test for high-grade, shallow mineralisation across two major gold corridors. The Guliso trend includes the Soyoma, Dina, Chago and South Chago gold targets and is open along strike in both directions while Guji-Gudeya includes the drill-ready Guji, Komto 1 and Komto 2 gold targets that have seen minimal follow-up despite confirmed gold mineralisation. This breccia is some 600 metres in length with widths of up to 170 metres. Partly infilled old prospector diggings are located at the Southern breccia prospect with reconnaissance rock chip sampling returning elevated copper and gold geochemistry while a second IP geophysical anomaly identified is a blind target under cover. Capricorn Metals to acquire Warriedar Resources in Australia

Capricorn Metals and Warriedar Resources have announced a binding scheme implementation deed under which Capricorn will acquire 100% of the securities in Warriedar by way of a Court-approved scheme of arrangement. This acquisition is structured to provide Warriedar shareholders with a fixed exchange ratio of one new Capricorn share for every 62 Warriedar shares. Upon the implementation of the scheme, Warriedar shareholders will own approximately 4.36% of all issued shares in Capricorn. Based on Capricorn's closing price of A$9.60 ($6.32) per share on 23 July 2025, the transaction suggests a value of approximately A$0.155 per Warriedar share, which represents a 29% premium over Warriedar's closing share price of A$0.12 on 23 July 2025. The scheme is contingent upon several conditions including an independent expert's conclusion that it is in the best interests of Warriedar shareholders. Additionally, customary conditions such as regulatory approvals and the absence of material adverse changes must be satisfied. Capricorn gains ownership of Warriedar's flagship Golden Range project through the acquisition. The project encompasses the Ricciardo gold-antimony deposit and the Fields Find gold project, all situated 90km north of Capricorn's promising Mt Gibson gold project. Capricorn executive chairman Mark Clark said: 'This is a compelling transaction for all stakeholders, and we believe that combining Capricorn and Warriedar represents a unique opportunity to generate value for shareholders of both companies. 'This acquisition is on-strategy and continues the expansion of Capricorn's Mt Gibson exploration and development footprint and adds resource ounces, highly prospective exploration targets and valuable infrastructure, which will further enhance what is clearly one of the best development projects in the Australian gold industry.' In addition to the share acquisition, the parties have agreed on a separate scheme of arrangement for the outstanding Warriedar listed options. Under this option scheme, Warriedar listed options will be exchanged for new Capricorn options at the same exchange ratio as the share scheme. The existing A$0.10 exercise price per listed option will be adjusted to A$6.20, maintaining the same expiry date of 11 April 2028. The option scheme is conditional upon the approval of the scheme for Warriedar shares by the requisite majority. The Warriedar Board has unanimously recommended that listed optionholders vote in favour of the option scheme, provided no superior proposal emerges and an independent expert concludes that it is in the best interests of the option-holders. Additionally, Warriedar performance rights must be cancelled or vested as a condition of the scheme, with the resulting Warriedar shares subject to the scheme. Capricorn also intends to enter into private treaty arrangements with holders of unlisted options in Warriedar. Warriedar non-executive chairman Mark Connelly said: 'In addition to delivering an attractive premium, this transaction allows Warriedar shareholders to retain ongoing but significantly de-risked, exposure to the exploration and development of the Golden Range project, more diversified enterprise with a strong balance sheet, cash flow generation and technical expertise, all of which will support the successful exploration and development of the Ricciardo gold-antimony deposit.' Longreach Capital is serving as financial adviser for Capricorn, while Corrs Chambers Westgarth is the legal adviser for the scheme. Warriedar has engaged Discovery Capital Partners as its financial adviser and Thomson Geer as its legal adviser. In May, Sabre Resources completed the sale of its Ninghan gold project tenements in the southern Murchison region of Western Australia to Capricorn Metals for A$1.6m. Capricorn Metals lobs a $188m bid for gold explorer Warriedar Resources

Mark Clark's Capricorn Metals has used its share price muscle to make a $188m move for an explorer with a large landholding in a gold and copper hotspot. The all-scrip bid for Warriedar Resources — a 29 per cent premium to the junior's Wednesday closing price — revolves around the Golden Range gold project located about 90km north of Capricorn's Mt Gibson gold development in the Murchison region. Golden Range has a 788 square kilometre tenement package and is surrounded by three gold mines run by Vault Minerals and Ramelius Resources, as well as 29Metals' Golden Grove copper mine. 'This acquisition is on-strategy and continues the expansion of Capricorn's Mt Gibson exploration and development footprint and adds resource ounces, highly prospective exploration targets and valuable infrastructure which will further enhance what is clearly one of the best development projects in the Australian gold industry,' Capricorn executive chairman Mark Clark said. Warriedar's board has backed the offer. Capricorn's shares last traded at $9.27 after hitting a record of $10.80 last month. Despite the decline, its stock value is still 70 per cent higher than 12 months prior. The West Perth company runs the Karlawinda gold mine in addition to developing Mt Gibson. In May, Capricorn's then-chief executive Paul Criddle resigned from the role despite aggravated assault charges against him being thrown out.
