BJ's to open its first Kentucky location in Louisville Friday. Here are 5 things to know
BJ's Wholesale Club is opening its first location in Kentucky on Friday in south Louisville near the Jefferson Mall.
The one-story, 103,100-square-foot store at 4807 Outer Loop includes a fuel center and marks BJ's 250th location. It sits on the site of the former Sears department store anchor of the mall.
'Our growth is the result of delivering unbeatable value and convenience to families for more than 40 years,' said Bill Werner, executive vice president of strategy and development for BJ's Wholesale Club, in a news release.
Matt Leitao, the company's vice president of market development, previously told the Courier Journal the Massachusetts-based company believes BJ's is "a great fit for Louisville and a great fit for their hardworking families," citing BJ's 25% off grocery prices policy, which claims "BJ's (is) consistently more than 25% cheaper, on average, in total," than other regional competitors, according to its website.

BJ's Wholesale Club, commonly referred to as BJ's, is an American membership-only warehouse club chain based in Marlborough, Massachusetts. It sells fresh foods, produce, full-service deli items, bakery goods, household essentials, home décor, pet supplies, toys, electronics and more.
Louisville residents looking to become members of BJ's Wholesale Club can do so through the BJ's website. BJ's has two membership options: The Club Carb and The Club+ Card. For a limited time, local shoppers can sign up for The Club Card Membership at $55 for 1-year membership with BJ's Easy Renewal and get a $40 welcome reward or The Club+ Card Membership at $110 for 1-year membership with BJ's Easy Renewal and get an $80 welcome reward, according to the company.
The Club+ Card Membership holders receive 5¢ off per gallon at BJ's Gas and earn 2% back in rewards on most BJ's purchases.

As it opens its first Louisville store, BJ's is partnering with Dare to Care Food Bank by donating unsold produce, meat, dairy and more every week.
Additionally, BJ's Charitable Foundation has granted Dare to Care more than $57,000 to support its south Louisville mobile pantry program.
'We're excited to collaborate with BJ's Wholesale Club as a new community partner in Louisville,' Vincent James, president and CEO of Dare to Care Food Bank, said in the release. 'This partnership will help deepen our mission of providing pathways to end hunger in our community.'
BJ's Wholesale Club at 4807 Outer Loop in Louisville is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m Sunday.
